i don't understand..are all the people who bashed Samsung's cheap plastic going to rush to buy this phone?

I know every time at launch, people say fail and it's gonna fail and not gonna succeed and then it will outsell the previous generation by a lot, but this is iPhone 5 (wrapped in plastic and colourful)..how many are going to rush to buy this...

The fact that they are hiring twice as many marketing peeps is a sign that they will evolve nicely.

I think this is actually a terrible sign, up until now Apple has let the product do the talking and the subtle, classy ads have been plenty. Now the product seems to be stagnating and they're hiring a bunch of additional Marketing people to try and talk their way into your pocket instead.

Every great company I know of that has shifted emphasis from engineering to marketing has produced lower quality product as a result. The biggest one I can think of is Mercedes from the mid 90's - up until then their bombproof build and reliability was the reason people bought them, after that the emphasis went on Marketing and they started making far worse cars.

The new iOS sucks...

The new iPhones suck...

The new website sucks...

The new ad sucks...

I'm really wondering what goes on inside this company. Is Ive on drugs, does he have a midlife crisis, is the water in Cupertino poisoned?

ROTTEN-AAPL, huh? Gee, I wonder who paid you to come here and troll. Let's see, what company has paid people in the past to spread FUD on websites....I think it was something out of South Korea...

Can you tell us what the right direction than should be? If you know it's the wrong direction, than you must have some kind of opinion where they should be going, right? No attack here, just interested..

Sure:

- I don't care that some cheaper iPhones are made out of plastic. But the colors SUCK!

- iOS 7 likewise uses a horrible color palette and has much weaker usability by not having clear buttons, etc. In addition, it is boring, all the quirky little whimsical features have been annihilated. A facelift was required, but throwing the baby out with the bathwater is stupid! Sadly, OS X will meet the same fate...

- iTunes 11 is/was a disaster with many useful features of iTunes 10 missing (some where reinstated with updates, some not). Also, the design is ugly.

- The new MacPro form factor is ridiculous. Not only does it look like a garbage can, but if you want to extend it you end up with separate boxes and a lot of wires on your desktop. Pathetic!

Overall, Apple should focus on adding FEATURES that are missing such as a Finder in iOS, a MicroSD card slot in the iPhone, a replaceable battery, a click-on keyboard so that one can actually TYPE, etc. Instead they are "disimproving" the operating systems and the hardware shells. Idiotic!

My 2 dollars...

You're either with us or against us. If Android serves you better, then you are persona non grata to our community.

There is already enough Fandroid trolling on this forum as it is.

That quote is absurd, I'm neither against you or with you. If I like an experience I have no problems in admitting it. Just because I happen to have switched to Android doesn't mean I don't love Apple products anymore.

There are still great stuff coming out of Apple, but I'm not so blind not to admit things that I don't like. It's not about taking sides, its about giving your objective opinions.

I actually love technology in general. I love trying new platforms, and am often excited when new stuff comes out, even more so with Apple. I've bought countless Apple products, especially computers, got my parents to switch as well.

Even owned an iPad first gen. But all Im saying is what I've been seeing lately hasn't been to my satisfaction, not like it used to be. Like when the Macbook Air was released, the iPod, & iPad etc..

Oh the irony. Plastic is the new HIP thing from now on, why? because Apple "perfected it".

I have no desire for any new iPhone until it's made in 4.5 inch or 5 inch and with better OS, not some rainbow colors and copy features of all mobile OS. Hit me up when you can innovate, Apple. (450.12-14.78 (-3.18%)

For some strange reason, no one brought up the 3G and 3GS when Samsung is criticized for using plastic.

Unless you have been through some winter hibernation, many people here have mantioned 3G and 3GS, not once but numerous times, when other's have bashed Samsung for using plastic material. Still IMO Samsungs Galaxy phones feel very cheap, and these removable/breakable stuff on the back are so 19'th century.

I like it. What program would you produce that sort of animation in?

Most likely 3DS Max/Maya, Blender or some variation. Great programs and used in the the CGI you see in films but take a LOT of expertise to get great results with... :)

I effing love Sleigh Bells. Good to hear a bit more life in the Apple ads instead of all that plinky plonky piano/incipid girly nonsense. Reminds me of the old days of iPod ads with Ting Tings.

As for the plastic argument - plastic is not all plastics in the same way metal is not all metals.

An engineered, reinforced, unibody block of polycarbonate is different to the multiple, brittle parts other manufacturers glue together to make their phones. Anybody who held a Nokia N9 when they were first released will know what I'm talking about.

I kind of agree with you. For starters, I just don't like the feel of it. But also, it will probably be at least half way through the commercial before people even realize it is a commercial for a phone and/or Apple product. And lastly, the music seems too low-key to me. The iconic colorful iPod commercials always seemed to have really energetic music playing.

Is this music energetic? http://youtu.be/JX90-tGTIE8

No - it's simply that Ive no longer has a nearly insane perfectionist to satisfy.

There's no longer anyone to say "Jony, that's not good enough".

It's good, but it wouldn't have been good enough for the turtle-necked one....

Means selling twice as many $99 dongles!
Bu hey these were good enough for the perfectionist, right?

And lets not forget it was the perfectionist who wanted an upside down Apple logo:

And signed off on these iPod mini colors, which we all know if these colors came out today everyone here would be slagging them off as ugly (and probably saying Steve would not have approved):

Tomorrow all those fools who stupidly sold their stock the rich people bought on the cheap will figure it out in the coming days since China sold out of it's iPhone 5s shipment in a matter of a few hours.

Nah they'll just say this proves that supplies are severely constrained.

Every time I see a picture of the puck mouse, I get this urge to throw something at someone.

Why in the hell would anyone who has experience using a pair of hands on a day to day basis think that thing was good idea is beyond me...

I still don't understand why, when we have 5 usable digits that Apple insists we should only use one on a mouse...

But Steve loved it so you can't say it was a bad idea. Didn't you know Steve never had bad ideas or questionable taste?

hey thanks for your feedback. i'm sure apple will take an opinion like ours into consideration

ya i'm confused why they didn't wrap the 4S around the same 4" shell. My assumption is that the 4S chip can't handle the 4" screen graphics

A5 can handle 1024x768 iPad Mini resolution just fine.. No technical reason for it to not be able to handle 1136x640 on 4" display (it's also used on current iPod Touch)

It's just the way they make profit

I like the 5c. But since I buy my phones unlocked. The price is too damn high. I mines well buy the 5s.

the ad is OK. But the beginning looked like a juice commercial.

What... am I seeing.

It's like I don't even know anymore.

FFS, just be straightforward and honest, and say it's a budget phone and it comes in colours. Don't try telling us you've reinvented plastic and because of that, it's suddenly acceptable again. Magical. Magic plastic budget phone. WTF.

If people didn't think Apple was a little up their own arse before, this will surely fix that.

FFS? FFS where does that ad say that they reinvented plastic or use the word magical? I think you are looking at the wrong arse.

I gotta say... I like the commercial. I like the music--may buy it on iTunes. (And I checked out the original Funkadelic tune also: not quite my taste but still good.) And I like the iPhone 5c. I would seriously have considered this for my 15-year-old daughter if it had existed a few months ago after she toilet-killed her old iPhone 4s and we had to get a Sam's Club on-sale iPhone 5 to replace it. Heck, I might consider the green one if my contract were up. (Probably not really; it would kill me inside to know I'd signed on for the "not as technically good" one in the end, I'm sure.)

Regardless, I think these will sell well to teenagers and families and those that really don't know or care about the tech inside and just want a cute/cool looking phone.
