Anybody ele noticed the RAM is upgradeable to 4GB instead of 3GB now? I'm also somewhat disappointed that Apple removed the 7200RPM 100GB hard drive option from the 17-inch model.:(

Also, I'd like to buy one while the site is still glitching and giving you the higher res disply for cheaper, but I have to wait until the end of the month.:(

Problems!

Ok here's the deal, the UK minimum price is £1299 that's $2592. I can't believe that difference in price! Its criminal. Even my educational pricing of £1104 is $2204, this is wrong. Sod the DRM stuff and consumers complaining about being locked in etc (I always buy of iTunes anyway) but these price difference are insane. Time to move, but i can't.

this is what i've been waiting for

time to call apple and tell them about my ught oh! 4th hardware problem on my now last generation macbook pro and finally i will get a replacement after the 3 trips to applecare rule. Now I wonder how long i should wait, if at all to give me a better chance of getting one of these bad boys

This update seems pretty sweet. Would have liked to see some 512mb graphics options (honestly 128mb for the lowest mbp. That should be criminal at 1440*900).
Seems to be no mention of intels turbo memory?

Now i'm just waiting for them to release a 12" version (like the powerbook) and I'll be sold..

This is all well and good but when will we see a case redesign already?!?!

MBP looks gorgerous as it is, it does not need a re-design. Of course if :apple: has something cool in it's sleeve, then sure, but it's not like the current design is ugly or dated.

Just ordered the 15" from the UK store. 7200 drive added 3-4 weeks to delivery estimate. I also went with 4 gigs. I don't mind waiting, and I have the cash to blow away.

I'm a happy man.

I am going to wait for the next two revisions and maybe a redesign with the magnetic latch.

Solid updates...but I'm going to wait for preinstalled Leopard. Maybe they'll bump the 15" resolution by then too.

And I am definitely waiting for Leopard to come out as well.

Oh and by the way, all the glitching with the prices is fixed when you add to the cart. It gives the real price. At least when i checked on the developer's store with high res 17 inch and 7200 rpm hard drive.

Are you taking VAT in to account? European prices include VAT; US-prices do not.

Lol

LOL the price has dropped, with the student card i can get the the midle MPB for 20500kr (around 18000 dollar) :D

What does this say about Leopard?

I think we need to look beyond the updates at face value and work out what this implies about Leopard and its needs/abilities.

These specs have something of the Vista about them .... maybe Leopard is going to have closer integration with Windows OS's and apps?????

Shinanigans on Apple

I think this is all a sham. They pulled the same crap last summer with the Core Duo's. They introduced the new Core Duo last year... with a the FREE IPOD NANO!!! Oh yeah, three months later they had the "Core 2 Duo" with improved motherboards... Okay? Anybody see a pattern? They wait for college kids to take their old inventory and sweeten it by offering an iPod nano. Think about it, they upgraded the MacBook Pro's and MacBook's with "faster chips". No real structural improvement. I don't even think it is Santa Rosa!

lol I can't believe people are still saying "meh, I'll wait until feature X is ready".

If there's any time to buy one, it's now people.

Hey that's not so bad, I was afraid with the updates that I'd start being envious of the new specs and want to upgrade. But my 2.33/ghz is right in the middle of the new machines as far as specs go.

Yes, it's all a big conspiracy
