Elegant user interface..

..? Certainly not on Windows. The fonts look way too ugly on Vista and the Mac UI does not blend in well with the Vista UI.

But no worries - there is FF3 kickin butts both on Windows and Mac.

Pithhelmet appears to work after applying this treatment gleaned from their site.

Open the /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/PithHelmet.bundle/Contents/Info.plist and change the MaxBundleVersion key.
I used textwrangler to change it to 5526 and it all seems tickety-boo!

YMMV, of course! :)

MotoGP.com still doesn't render correctly. Meh.

For those having problems with 1Password, just install the latest beta version by enabling beta updates in the 1Password preferences and it'll work again.

You can now enable the Developer menu in Preferences > Advanced. It is more well-organized than the Debug menu before. (But it seems to lack some of the features previously present in the Debug menu.) The list of User Agents is also updated.

When will we be able to use the WYSIWYG editor here at MacRumors using Safari? :)

shocking  I didn't realize this, how come MacRumors forum doesn't fully support safari?

PS. anyone noticed text box resize doesn't work anymore with safari 3.1? or its just me?

broken Imac - blue screen

Hey Guys,

Just on the phone with a friend who did the safari update to 3.1 on their new imac they bought last month, i believe it is the mid-level. She installed the update, it prompted to her to restart. She did, and when restarted it was swapping between the grey screen with apple icon and a blue screen with loader wheel. about 5 minutes later she decided to force restart it, when it restarted, it just did the same thing.

I got her to boot off installer and repair disk permission and the the disk. she restarted and still the same thing.

Anyone else have this problem or a solution.

I agree with all those that say FireFox 3 beta 4 is MUCH faster than Safari. When that is final I don't know why anyone would use Safari as the default browser.

FF3 Beta 4 blows Safari 3.1 out of the water!

These are a bit immature these arguments, there will still be plenty of reasons to use Safari once Mozilla Firefox version 3 is finished. Firefox 3 and Safari are more evenly matched than you make out.

Is that why there's no "quick links" menu in the macrumors forum on windows in Safari (pre and post 3.1)?

IDK, Im scared of apple's windows app, so I don't have safari for windows.

However, its hard to imagine safari for windows would perform differently as far as standards are concerned.

Firefox 3 and Safari are more evenly matched than you make out.

pros and cons are always there, different users also have different concerns, "evenly matched" may or may not be true, but as long as we state facts reasonably, ppl can make their own choice :). hopefully EVERYbody understand this.

What are those reasons? I am curious.

Firefox is tied to keychains, much more customizable (which is good not bad) and has a massively larger installed base (if you add Windows/mac/linux)....

Safari is cute but for serious users it doesn't compare to Firefox 3. And javascript doesn't work perfectly well on Safari. Some complex sites don't really work on Safari. Joomla control panel is one example.

I agree with what you said, but firefox isn't using OSX keychain as of now, I think, correct me if Im wrong.

OSX keychain only store one password/username for one website, while firefox has to support multiple IDs.

I'm not having any issues here's my pic, you should check your computer.

That page is fine for me too, and always has been. Under "Schedule" (box on the right) click "Champ Po." then choose 250cc. Click on Matteo Pasini and you'll likely get the same f'd up page that I did above.

P2 - Support for third-party Identity management systems
P2 - Provide extensible Identity management API
P3 - Full Keychain integration (Mac OS X only)
P3 - Integrate password management with keychain

I just copied that from the developers page for FireFox 3 beta 4

The current FF 2 might not support keychains but the new version does (beta) and uses a totally new OSX look.

LOL, interesting, it did do that. I dunno, it did work fine in Firefox. It's hard to tell why that part of the website doesn't work in Safari. That's why we have choices I guess. :)

Even though the given speed figures might be correct - I don't really FEEL anything. Which is a precondition before I give up the great Firefox.

Me neither. Safari may do well in the tests, but for whatever reason
it feels slower than Firefox. I would guess they test the browsers in
artificial conditions (e.g., with extremely fast internet connections,
the like of which most people don't have).

I do like both browsers though, and tend to swap between them a
fair bit.
