Even with public beta and everything the overall OS seems glitchy even on new machines.

Perhaps in the earlier builds the last 3 builds have been relatively solid.

10.6.8 - fastest, most stable, most reliable OS Apple has released. Snow leopard is the mac version of Windows 7. :)

Myth. The same has been said about Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Panther, Tiger etc.

Confirmation bias galore.

#3 No sound on SOUND keys as in you can't tell how loud you're increasing the volume from the keys.

They turned this off by default. Go to sound-->play feedback when volume is changed.

Also, I am pretty sure I saw a Spotlight indexing indicator when I installed beta 1, underneath the search bar.

Compared to 10.9 it sucks. Too many things are obsolete in 10.6, too many under the hood improvements in later OS.

Agreed. Tiger is the best OS ever launched by Apple.

My mother still uses TIGER and her PowerMac Quicksilver 867. If not for power outages, the machine has never crashed for over a YEAR! HAHA!

I did upgrade it to TenFourFox as Safari is too far out of date. But otherwise her MAIL program works better than mine! LOL

It has a copy of 10.5.8 on it too, but I never realized until installing that how slow the machine is with Leopard. At LEAST TWICE as SLOW!

For now she's happy. Apple needs to get back to its roots. Nobody likes BLOATWARE!

It might have been there in Beta 1, but it's not now on my Beta 4.

Can somebody please try changing audio output devices in system prefs/sound/output and let me know if switching between say internal speakers and line out plus maybe some others actually works properly? In all previous versions of 10.10 for me you could not reliably select a particular output, it did't work and the results were totally random - thanks

Oh one more problem I forgot but many might not care.

Many FLASH enabled websites I go to won't work in Safari.
Have to use Firefox or Chrome instead.

I realize Apple wants to KILL FLASH, but this is NOT the way to do it Apple.

Sorry.

?? Working ok here considering how bad flash is.

Thanks for that tip! :)

But the sound is awful compared to the old one! LOL

You obviously don't stream much, especially foreign websites.
While Youtube works, I assume that's because it's automatically pulling the HTML video. So if that's your point, then you're wrong.

It has problems with FLASH ONLY websites, especially sports websites. Some of these websites are sites people PAY TO WATCH!

Just tried it with an external drive, it's still there for me:

for the most part the previous beta was fine on my system except from time to time it would stall loading web pages in safari and i would have to close and reopen to get it to load. hope they fixed that.

iWork icons issue

I cannot get the new icons for GM 1 to show up. What actions do I need to take to get them to show up?
These are the icons I have right now in Yosemite GM 2.

Autumn is such a great time for Apple customers. New desktop OS, new mobile OS, new phones, tablets, iMacs, Apple TV (please!). Those months leading up to September are rough. :)

In Australia, our's is the winter of discontent. Made glorious spring by the ceo of cook.
