WARNING!
BETA 5 still has a DOA issue for Mac Pro users...

Connecting/Disconnecting an iPhone will often wipe out your bluetooth completely. Yes, no magic mouse, wireless keyboard.
Basically it bricks your Mac and you have to reboot.

Yosemite is not ready for Primetime until this is fixed.

I've filed complaints for 2 months to Apple and they've done nothing, tried various Apple and non-Apple cables. STILL, same issue.

To repeat... YOSEMITE IS DOA! NOT RECOMMENDED!

PS: I'm typing this on a wired Apple mouse and old keyboard since my Bluetooth was wiped out. Now I'll have to REBOOT and lose everything! :-(

You're joking right?

Nope. That setting hasn't been there in over a decade, I can live without setting it to "on", and if it was set to "on" I could live with black corners around the volume icon.

I leave transparency on so I never see the glitch.
There are legitimate reasons for wanting to turn off transparency, such as making the menu bar not transparent.

Having said that, very few percentage of people would bother to turn it off. It's certainly not a showstopper bug to be sure.

Yosemite's voracious memory consumption, on the other hand, would be one such bug IMO, one which I hope is addressed by this candidate release.

Well, the reason they had to add it was because they added a ton of translucency in 10.10. I liked the translucency in mavericks, but I think they went way overboard with it in Yosemite, especially in the window chrome.

3.0 but not the third candidate for a GM full installation

Golden Master candidate 3.0, but it's effectively the second candidate from a full installation perspective.

(GM Candidate 2.0 testing was limited – 2.0 was a delta that required the first candidate. Better to test a full installer.)

Please fix the freezes upon wake up.

That's another issue I reported. Beta 5 seems to have so far fixed that.

But a related bug is still annoying.

Yosemite will not remember your desired display to boot up to requiring you to turn on a 2nd display, in my case my HDTV. This is just completely unacceptable as I told Apple in the bug report.

The combination of the bugs I reported make Yosemite completely unusable in my opinion.

I'll recap... Plug in iPhone, bluetooth gone, no mouse, no keyboard, & to add insult to injury, reboots to wrong display! I swear this is like The Keystone Cops!

It's just you.

Nope, me too! I feel like I'm in a house of mirrors...

WOW. I know what you mean, I gave up as well. Forget it, i'm just going to move on to another thread.
Maybe it's Apple's way of telling people not to ***** with the transparency settings.

Yosemite GM candidates have been solid for me. '13 13" rMBP

Wait, people actually turn the transparency off? That makes Yosemite look even worse than it already is imo. I tried it and it just looks terrible.

If you're worried about distractions, dark mode + a dark background is the best way to get work done and not worry about white menus blinding you.

Everyone has different tastes. For me, it reminds me of Aero in Windows. No thanks.

What's wrong with this? Now it looks like on iOS.

But there is a glitch on the Time Machine screen.

The black around the rounded-corners is visible when the UI is set to "lower transparency". Makes the whole thing look like a square instead of a rounded one.

These aren't GM's. They are GM Candidates. Don't know why this is so hard for some people to understand.

This new annual release cycle with GM "candidates" is rather unprecedented (until 10.7 and Federighi came along). GM had always simply meant, "Golden Master", which was usually the same version released to the public. Making these "Candidates" simply gets Apple off the hook if they need more work on a GM release. They're rushing out annual releases that are less polish and more, well, .

Maybe there are so many frequent updates because of all the extra "testers" there are this time around with the public beta.

They didn't have this much feedback before Mavericks.

And lastly one more bug Apple hasn't fixed...

THE FEEDBACK ASSISTANT itself knocks out your internet while collecting data, at least on Comcast Xfinity internet. I don't know why or how, but I have to reboot my router/modem after each Feedback report.

If you add up my complaints, you can see why I'm NONE TOO HAPPY with Yosemite right now. :(

Time to reboot again. :-( This time I'll try zapping PRAM, but that never worked before.
Keep in mind, no issues here with Mavericks on anything I've posted here.

Dude!! maybe it's time to do clean install. Do you notice how nobody is joining in on your rather odd collection of complaints. Perhaps it's you.

Continuity and handoff now work flawlessly for me. As soon as I open up Safari on my iPhone, I see the icon on my Mac's dock. As soon as I close Safari or put the phone to sleep, the icon disappears. Also, SMS messaging is back for me.

Edit: Also, there appears to be icons in the top right corder of the Safari icon for Handoff depending upon if you're using an iPhone or an iPad.
