Curious what other users think about the overall performance. I've been using it on a 2013 15 inch MacBook Pro and it's been very smooth, but many on here have been complaining about it.

I uninstalled it after Public Beta three, can anyone comment on whether they've improved the systems overall legibility?

I've used every beta successfully (after verifying that my primary apps -- Parallels, iWork suite, Safari, Pixelmator, Xcode, and Skitch -- all worked acceptably. For me, the GM candidates have been rock solid on my 2013 MBPro w/ 16 GB RAM, and late 2009 iMac w/ 4 GB RAM.

Busted Finder

To the guy with the busted Finder -

I feel your pain brother. I too get this, the black rectangles and all. Not sure if this fixes it, It doesn't show up straight away.

I also get graphic corruption in the Bookmarks menu in Safari where the icons change colour when you hover over them. This hasn't been fixed either. Will probably clear my machine entirely and install Yosemite from scratch when the final comes out. Feels like an update went wrong sometime during the development process.

This is great! Public Beta means more users, which means more bug reports, which means more frequent updates! Now they need to do the same for iOS. :)

The reason Apple is releasing all these GM is to secretly test their new proxy cache servers replacing alchemy.
Once that's perfected they will use these servers to deliver ATV channels on demand.

It is the complete opposite for my MacBook Pro 2010. Yosemite on mine runs better than all of the previous version 10.6 - 10.9

same here. Mavericks was a constant headache with my 2012 mbp. Yosemite however is much smoother and responsive

Continuity and handoff now work flawlessly for me. As soon as I open up Safari on my iPhone, I see the icon on my Mac's dock. As soon as I close Safari or put the phone to sleep, the icon disappears. Also, SMS messaging is back for me.

Edit: Also, there appears to be icons in the top right corder of the Safari icon for Handoff depending upon if you're using an iPhone or an iPad.

I'm not seeing this icon in my Dock. Did you change any settings on your Mac?

There are legitimate reasons for wanting to turn off transparency, such as making the menu bar not transparent.

Having said that, very few percentage of people would bother to turn it off. It's certainly not a showstopper bug to be sure.

Yosemite's voracious memory consumption, on the other hand, would be one such bug IMO, one which I hope is addressed by this candidate release.

Yosemite does use more memory on my MBP, but doesn't seem to on my iMac. Helvetia on the iMac bothers me a lot, though. A lot. I think it looks awful.

They wouldn't release another candidate just to fix a UI bug. I don't think at this point they are busy with UI bugs, they are more likely ironing out more serious bugs so they can push it out ASAP. UI bugs are the most harmless ones, they can always be fixed later.

And Apple isn't as perfectionist as they once were about the UI. OS X has tons of UI bugs.

Examples? Just curious. I can only think of a couple.

These aren't GM's. They are GM Candidates. Don't know why this is so hard for some people to understand.

This is like when dealerships stopped calling used cars, used cars- and started calling them "pre-owned"....it's semantics.

"Gold Master Candidate" may as well be called "Beta"....otherwise what's the difference between beta 1, 2, 3, etc. if there's just going to be GM 1, 2, 3, etc.

Don't be so excitable, again, it's semantics.

ugh.. really looking forwards to a new public beta.
Also, and i know this has nothing to do with this thread, but can anyone tell me what the 'location' option is for?
I don't think that's always been there, or has it?

It's probably another way to access this thing (which I never quite got the purpose of).

Woah, actually never have noticed that. I assume that saves several settings for internet adapters, useful for switching between DHCP at home and maybe static IP address at work so you don't have to reset every time? Not something a ton of people would want, but definitely potentially useful.

Say you have specific settings to use the network at the office, but it's open slather at home, by using "locations" you don't have to remove proxy settings when you get home and then re-add them when you get back to the office...

Edit: Perhaps explained better above, yet been in the system for years... think PowerPC :p

Might be a coincidence but WiFi seems a hell of a lot more responsive for me.

In terms of speed or uptime? My connection freezes a lot (I even get an exclamation point on the Wi-Fi icon) and the only way to fix it is disabling and enabling back.

Because betas are supposed to be feature complete, every beta is theoretically a candidate for gm. If they find bugs, they release another beta. When you're done fixing bugs, you release a gm and send it to the press. Releasing strings of "gm candidates" is mockery.

Six pages and no mention of Safari's snappiness.

Seems stable and solid. And, yes, snappy. My 2012 rMBP seems happy with this build.

I have GM3 installed on about a dozen different macs and all are having significant email problems. Mail is extremely slow to both send and receive and messages are occasionally missing. After being archived or moved to a different folder, they occasionally reappear in the inbox. There is also long lag periods for email to show up in auxiliary boxes like sent etc... Anyone else seeing this?
