Not only that, but some of us like to hook our computers up to our home theater systems. This is where Macs fail, as they don't have HDMI or blu-ray capabilities. I hook my Windows PC up to my home theater system via a single HDMI cable all the time to enjoy videos and games. But I can't do it the same way with my Mac because I need a mess of cables and adapters and I have to run Windows to get support for what I want or need to do.

Buyer's remorse, eh?

1. Sell your Mac.
2. Use the money to buy a PC.
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!!!

I mean seriously, instead of kvetching on an internet forum, sell the damn thing if you don't like it! Macs have such excellent resell value, you should be able to get a good percentage of your investment back. Unless of course your "Mac" doesn't actually exist and you're just trolling hardcore.

Is it easy to open up the imac? Anyone done it yet? Where is the HD located and is it easily replaceable?

Seriously, go buy some film for $20 and be done with it. I don't get the big complaint here.

Exactly:) +1

For all those whining about them to have a non glossy screen the above answer should be enough.

Oh yeah, and for all those other whiners who continiously garbage many forums with their complaints about not having Blue ray, just take a hike.
Most people DON'T care, its good to have but if not so what.
You should be happy about what Apple brought up this time, great stuff, not 100% for some of You who wants expensive BR and expensive top notch Graphic cards but definatly perfect for 95% + of Users.

Not sure about the first question, but the RAM is really easy to upgrade. Look at this page on the Apple website. You see that section along the bottom of the screen, in the middle below the Apple logo, with the screws on either side? Just unscrew that piece and you can install the new RAM.

Thank you Ivan!

I was curious if they had kept the ram slots underneath the logo since there is now 4 of them. It's good to know they are still there.

Educational Discount

Can customers get an educational discount even through buying a mac through the retail store?

43 years in the computer industry but still don't know how to build your own PC?

Never said I didn't know how so please do not assume what was not written. Yes I have built PCs and I am A+ certified. I was referring to the ones I've bought. However, when I was younger I always did things for myself including tuneups, brakes, etc on my cars. As I've gotten older I pay for someone else to do it because I can. Yes, I could build bigger, faster PCs at less cost but I'd rather spend my free time doing other things such as building models and landscaping on my train layout, photography and other hobbies. I just don't get the satisfaction about building a PC that I used to. It has become boring.

Thats kind of how i feel. I want the quad core, but i'm not sure it'll fit on my desk. Eh

27" is just the right size lol... i do a lot of stuff on my iMac (20") simultaneously but have to make everything really small e.g. Quicktime X, Keynote*2, Safari, Transmission, Finder etc... plus HD content would look freakishly good - love to watch heroes in HD :D :apple: cant wait to buy one... need to save lots of pennies want that i7 processor!!!

I hear it varies from store to store. Ask about it - the ones that honor education discounts will require a student ID.

in the UK there are 3 different tiers of education discount - non uni students get a bit... whereas uni students (with valid ID, e.g. Library card and/or NUS) get **** loads (i got £200 of the lower end Unibody 13") :apple:

I was talking from a USA standpoint, as I've never been to the UK Apple Stores. This is good to know, though - thanks!

im actually glad they didn't put blu-ray in it... they probably couldn't fit 4 Ram slots or a top end dual core/quad core processor in it... 27" display woooooop

I'm due for an upgrade at work… this has come at a brilliant time. Everyone has 20" models, I don't think it would look very fair if I sprouted for the 27" lol.

Is nobody else bothered by the stupid mini keyboards they're selling now? I'd happily change the wireless one back for a full sized wired one. Although, this new mouse looks sexy!

To dear MOSX and everyone

I can't believe how happy I am right now!

I had an HP DV5030us notebook. I had so many problems with it. The motherboard finally croaked after not even a year, and it decided to kill external devices that were connected at the time.

So I take it down to Fry's because I have a warranty there and they'll give me a "loaner" while my system gets repaired. The loaner gets tested in the store. I get it home and try to open the DVD drive. Guess what? The DVD drive is malfunctioning! I traded one dead computer for another! *sigh*

So I have to take it back and get another (you can bet I will, I paid for that warranty and I'm going to get my moneys worth!).

Finally years of frustration of dealing with Windows and poorly built Windows PCs is just too much for me. I walk over to the Apple section and get a Mac! :D

I've got myself the white MacBook with SuperDrive. I haven't been this happy with a computer EVER. It simply just works and it doesn't come loaded with spyware and adware! I was able to turn it on and start using it! Not like my HP where I had to turn it on, wait half an hour for all the trial software and ads to load, reboot with XP DVD and reformat and not actually use my new PC until 6 hours later.

There are literally no words to describe how happy I am right now :D

So are there any killer apps I should be looking for? ;)

In your 2.5 year ago previous post, you was complaining that your lousy HP laptop...spyware...malware..blah blah...AND THAT'S WHY U TURNED YOURSELF TO MAC...what!?

AND NOW...in this post....You was saying that Window is damn safe after Win 95 in this post, but 2.5 years ago when you start using your macbook white, you are so pleased that the Macbook/MacOSX was clean n easy n safe.

You are contradicting yourself.

I'm really sorry for you....you don't enjoy any machine that you use...

the mini keyboards annoy me. I mean, WTF?

the new mouse looks cool, but it's a wait and see approach until we all handle it.

Uh... a slot-load Blu-ray drive is no bigger than a slot load DVD drive. What are you talking about?

Graphics card are not that expensive. The ATI 4670 costs £60 or less. BR is also not expensive £50 for a reader with DVD-RW. However when you buy a computer for £1599 you expect this would be included. Watching a DVD on a 27" screen with 2560x1440 will not be fun. Somehow I think you will want blu-ray on that.

Nope, I haven't used an Apple keyboard since, well, ever. The first thing I do when I purchase any new Apple system is go to Fry's and pick up a full-size, ergonomic, non-chicklet keyboard. Not a big deal, though, because I can add whatever keyboard I want to the system (unlike Blu-ray).

Excellent work uncovering this! :D

Sounds like he was trolling. "It simply just works"? Who else besides Steve Jobs actually says that?

The new Apple keyboard is by far the best I've ever used, but it's ludicrous that you can't get a wireless one with a 10-key. What the hey, Apple?

I'm part of the camp that believes a computers functionality is far more important. Computers aren't meant to be fashion accessories, they're meant to be tools. Like the rest of the world, I'd rather have a top of the line monitor sitting on my desk and the far more functional tower tucked away somewhere else.

I don't even have to build my own system to beat Apple at price. If I go to Dell or HP or any other number of manufacturers I can still build a system that outperforms the $1,999 Core i5 iMac for several hundred dollars less.

Oh please, this "size" argument that Apple fans try to use has never worked and it never will. Maybe if Apple gave consumers actual CHOICES then it could work. But right now if I want a desktop I have 3 choices from Apple. A Mac mini, which is extremely low-end and extremely overpriced for the power. Theres the iMac, which is a laptop on a stand. Then theres the Mac Pro, which is also extremely overpriced and offers extremely limited expandability.

Again, a PC is not a fashion accessory. A computer is a tool.

How depressing. Bean counting, criticising what's on offer and having no regard for design and aesthetics just shows you to be the antithesis of an Apple consumer.

If everybody thought like you, Apple wouldn't exist because people would just be buying a tool which matches their checklist of features. Luckily there are plenty of people who buy things that make them happy and disregard the expense side of things. Things are only expensive if you think they cost more than they're worth. Apple products aren't inexpensive, but people buy them because they think they're worth it.

And this rolls over to second hand products. Your Dell will be worth little in 3 years time, whereas I'm in the position of getting £500-£600 off any Apple computer because that is what I will get for my current iMac on the second hand market.

I'd hate to think what your house is like - no nice objects, just dull, functional boxes.

Saying a computer is only a tool is like saying a car is just an object that gets you from A to B.
