ECG and Irregular Heart Rhythm are all missing in Canada still. Ahhhh, Health Canada is always useless.
Ya, wtf! Still nothing for Canada? Although I read an article when a4 was released they said it would take weeks to approve but apple didn’t talk to them yet. Maybe that’s still the case? Very frustrating though. I would very much like that feature!

So I’ve updated my Series 4 Watch to 5.2 and I can’t see an ECG app. Am I doing something wrong or should it just appear?

I got my watch second hand in England and I’m starting think it might not be a UK model :(

Is there a way to find out what country my watch is from? It says in settings it’s a model “A2008” which when I’ve googled it says Europe and Asia.
Have you opened the health app to set up the ECG app?
Anyway if you want to find out where your watch is from, you should look at the model number that starts with MT instead of the A2008 one (click model again to revel it) The last one or two letter of that MT number should indicate where it’s from, think the UK is B? Just google it

Am leaving apple n switching to android they havnt released ECG for india and i dont think so that they would release ever ☹️

Health Canada says they still have not received an application from Apple.
I remembered when Apple introduced series 4.0 with ECG feature, they stated that the feature will be available later in US first and then Canada. Now with what you just stated, someone misled the public. Disappointed.

A bit of inconsistency here

This website says we do not get ECG in Norway
https://www.apple.com/uk/watchos/feature-availability/

But this website says do get ECG here in Norway
https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019...-available-today-across-europe-and-hong-kong/

Hope we get ECG here in Norway this remains to be tested when the update is complete

Very disappointing indeed although I don’t remember Canada being specifically mentioned.

Apple has to get permission from Indian regulatory body before getting approval for the ECG feature. Getting permission in India is a time consuming thing. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization is the Indian regulatory body for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, being the equivalent of the FDA in the US. India is yet to permit Apple to open a Apple owned store in 9 years. So it might take awhile before the ECG feature comes to India. My guess is next release will be in Australia/Canada/NZ etc.

Does this mean my AirPods 2 won’t work with my AppleWatch unless I’m running WatchOS 5.2?
Yes

If you start the update and turn off bluetooth on your phone (turn it off, not just from control center) the watch will download the update via Wi-Fi which is a hell of a lot faster than Bluetooth.
Omg thank you! I’ve always been frustrated with the slow downloads for watchOS. I wonder why it’s so much slower when connected via Bluetooth.

I have installed 5.2 but the ECG app won’t open. I’ve set up the feature in Health on my phone up to the stage where it tells me to open the watch app, but the icon on the watch is greyed out and will not load. Not sure what I’m doing wrong?

That someone just might be you ;)... who said Canada would be the second country to get ECG capability? I don’t remember anyone at Apple predicting the order of regulatory approvals.

As to when Apple might submit for approval in Canada, it’s possible they were waiting for EU approval to issue. Navigating the regulatory landscape of the many public health agencies worldwide is not trivial. Often, the strategy is to get EU and US through first, since having those approvals can fast track the process in other countries.

In my case by turning off bluetooth it jumped from 2 hours to 3 to 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 hour to r0 minutes ...
Thanks

You need to go into the Heart setting in the Watch App on your phone, then go through both the setups for ECG and Heart Rate Notifications. It should then work.
