WOOHOO! I was starting to think Series 1 and 2 support was being reconsidered. Awesome news.

the REAL question is will Apple offer a decent trade in credit for S1/S2 for recent watches? It’s been about 4-5yrs now. Great support still.

I was one of the lucky ones whose HomePods successfully updated yesterday without getting bricked. I won’t try my luck today. I’ll wait a bit before installing on my watch.

smart move I’m worried about updating my HomePod

You don’t know how happy I am (even though the bug really angers me) to hear I wasn’t the only one with this problem. It’s a real pain to go walk the dog and see that any downloaded podcasts I had have been deleted.
Yeah, it's really annoying. I usually wake up and listen to a podcast on my phone for roughly 15-20 minutes before my walk. The I grab the watch and airpods and take my dog for a walk and I want to resume listening to the podcast on the watch without the phone. I hate that it deletes the podcast and have called Apple to report this. I so hope it is fixed in 6.1.

Apple Watch Series 2 A1758 updated to 6.1 . Took around an hour overall and was promoted to enter the PIN during the installation for whatever reason, then the installation continued :)

I don’t want to brick or bracelet anything... so I wait a few hours.
then I punish my wife with her update and see how it goes.
Tomorrow is my b-day so I can’t have it with my watch not giving me balloons :p

Birthday balloons, ha, okay...

Being married myself, I’m sure there’s some inside joke at work here, so I do hope it goes well with your wife’s Watch. It wouldn’t be good to get a real brick for your b-day 😉 I do my own updates so my husband knows better than to try anything on my devices. He can brick his own stuff, and he is not allowed to touch mine.

Happy Birthday 🎂

With a little luck this improves the screen response on my Series 4.

With OS 5, a small touch and the screen would show ... now ... I have to really tap it hard for any hope of showing anything. Same with the knob turn.
I’ve been going over comments to see if there’s any issues still with 6.1 before I update my S4 from 5.3.2.
I don’t want to make my watch an inconvenience to use so I will hold off as long as possible until I know watchOS 6 is actually stable.

To all series 1&2 users: be glad you did not get to use WatchOS 6 and 6.0.1. It was worth waiting for 6.1! My series 3 became sluggish, lots of frame drops while going in and out of the app menu and my biggest annoyance was that the display often did not turn on when flicking your wrist or simply by touching the screen. I had to push the crown a couple of times before my watch responded: That’s. All. Gone After tonight’s update.

My watch is finally smooth and responsive again and everytime I raise or flick my wrist the screen goes on again, as it always did with OS5. I’m happy!

Seems snappier. Does anyone else have emails that came in as "no sender" "no recipient" that wont't delete?

This is my concern. My S2 is so slow from updating that I don’t think I’ll bother.

it’s still early, but my experience on the last 6.1 beta on my S2 was amazing. It actually has me rethinking about buying an upgrade the winter. I believe this release is the same build.

Obviously you may have a different experience. But for me, this was a worthwhile install.

Exact same issue and sequence of events! I listen on the phone, and expect it to sync properly to the watch when I take it along with the AirPods - it ends up in the Recently Played section, which is stupid coz now its not in the Listen Now section

At least an hour updating an AW4 but GTG now plus the watch is back to displaying a screen when raising my wrist.

Thanks.

My wife is not a tech geek. So I always joke and handle her HW. She just enjoys using it.
It’s an old series and anyway I plan to buy her the 5th gen in January on her birthday :)

Anyway, update worked and everything seems smooth so she will enjoy the new watch faces.

I just updated my Series 5 using iOS 13.1.2 to WatchOS 6.1. No issues so far. Siri shortcuts on the watch is not working still; I believe it is re-enabled via iOS 13.2.

Updating my iPhone to iOS 13.2 now.

Update: After updating to iOS 13.2, Siri Shortcuts over Apple Watch is now working.

I just want my series 4 to not take multiple taps and pushes just to get the time in theater mode.
It doesn’t. While in theater mode, just turn the crown. The display will light up gradually and you can see the time right away.

By "recently played" on the watch, do you mean you select the podcast feed and it shows the latest episode as played, or is there an actual "recently played" section somewhere?

Is this one of the good updates, or one of the updates that bricks the device? Asking for a friend.
I will wait for a day and then update.
I was lucky yesterday with HomePod update as it didn’t brick mine.
don’t wanna ride on my luck for long
Just came out, who knows.......
Have “your friend” install it and then report back to us please
Ok with Apples recent track record, who’s going first 🙂
I’m waiting on this one. I got lucky with my homepod update yesterday. Plus most people don’t update their watch during the day if they don’t have a charger so I’d recommend giving it a couple of days to get more end user feedback.
After yesterday's debacle with the HomePod, I'm going to wait a couple of days to see what happens first.
Report back and let us know if you get a brick or a bracelet....
Not installing until feedback is out. Too many sloppy updates from Apple this week.
Wow. Lots of hesitation.
I’ve upgraded. 6.0.1 was a hot mess. 6.1 went without a hitch and so far seems better, but I’ll give it few more days before I’m fully sold.

Upgraded my series 4 to 6.1 no problem from iPhone SE on 13.2. Watch appears stable, faster connection on internet and Siri is improved over not working to working but slow response and losing connection every second request. 🙄

The hearing devices complication (and crown triple-click for Hearing Devices) still doesn't work. I'm on a Series 4. Does it work on Series 5?

It was 3 years in September. And the last time I looked they offered about $50 I think for series 1. Laughable.

Problem seems to be fixed in 6.1!
