ROFL, just played with my mates new iPhone 4g in Australia. Put my thumb on the little part connecting the antenna. BOOM No effect (hardly), turns out that Australian mobile network is more powerful than the American one? Who would have known.
Take the case/bumper/whatever off.
LOL.
The videos were doctored. E.g., n97 mini was in energy saving mode in which the antenna software behaves differently than under normal operation. Droid X was apparently not in 3G network in the first place.
Hell yes go away. I just cannot believe how many folks come to MacRumors who have not interest in owning anything Apple. I went to several Android forums and just expected the 15 year olds that are Apple fanboys would be posting all sorts of negative crap. But no, hardly a one. Is it that these Apple haters don't have jobs or what? It is incredible. Just go to other phone or computer forums and look for Apple fans to be posting crap. Hard to find. It is actually a waste of time to read MacRumors forums, most of the posters add nothing. Sorry I wasted my time again. Really.
Explain the unabated, frenzied demand.
It's because, deep down inside, those "folk" really want an iPhone badly but for whatever reason - wife won't let them, stuck in a Verizon contract, iPhone perceived as somehow emasculating - they just can't get there. So, when you really hate the life you have, one way to feel better is by trying to make others feel as inadequate as you.
That's really all it is. Today while I was in my car I looked up a fun song I heard earlier and downloaded it to my iTunes while I was playing other music in the background, checking the weather satellite, and responding to an email from my business partner. The iPhone has excellent multitasking, the best smartphone UI on the planet, and it's one damn sexy piece of hardware. Unless you're locked into a contract on another carrier, married to a witch, or prefer geeky over practical and effective, why would anyone ever choose an Android smartphone over an iPhone?![]()
Those people would have found a way to bash Apple regardless of the response.
It's what's know in intelligence analysis as a "signal". The surface message may have been "all phones exhibit this problem". But the signal was "You wanna play dirty? Bring it on. Or if you value your rep, keep off the grass".
Nokia and Moto were embarrassingly slow to get this and got sucked in when they did not need to be. They did Apple's' PR job for it.
Nope - what we have here is a design flaw that no other smart phone has.
agreed... other smart phones require a "death grip" the iphone 4 requires a simple touch with a single finger. hardly the same.
I wonder if they were pressured to retract this?

Was there any point in keeping them any longer.
Apple essentially killed "antennagate." iPhone 4 sales are through the roof. problem solved. Why continue to call attention to competitors' poor iPhone imitations?
Your blinkered fanboy hyperbole is embarrassing to watch.
For bumpers? Or for the phone, the waiting time for which is about the same as for the DroidX.
Again, numbers and continued demand for the iPhone 4 render your overstatement of any issues with the iPhone 4 moot.
Correct decision, Apple. They made a mistake and they fixed it.
(Now to redesign the 'phone.)
Sales prove very little.
Just because Transformers 2 grossed almost 1 billion doesn't make it a good movie.
Just because Microsoft has a market share of over 90% doesn't make it a good company.
Just because Fox News has the most viewers doesn't make it a good news outlet.
Just because everyone listens to Lil Wayne doesn't make his music good.
Just because everyone read Harry Potter doesn't make it good literature.
Just because the iPhone has a continued demand doesn't mean it's a fully functional phone.
If anything, it proves that people are very very dumb when it comes to spending their money and time.

Tried a friend's brand new iPhone 4 the other day. Used both hands to completely enclose the edges with my fingers but could not get it to reduce it's signal. Tried holding it every way I could think of but it would not drop a single bar. Is it only some iPhones that do this or does it require a poor signal to get it to drop (had 5 bars when I tried it)? No matter what I did, this one had not issues with signal loss... No bumper or case on it.
[...] there are things in life other then:
Steve Jobs is he who gives Manna from Heaven and Apple with the iPhone, Ipod Touch, Nano, Classic, Shuffle, Macbook, iMac, or Macintosh is, that manifestation.
Or:
All thing that are evil are to be found in Steve Jobs, The Anti-Christ, Beelzebub. all Apple's products cause demonic possession, iTunes is the home of online wickedness.![]()
