Why did everyone upgrade from a 3.5" iPhone to a 4" iPhone again?
And you'll be back, like so many Android users who continue to visit and comment on iPhone-related forum.
nice wallpaper on the iphone.
You do realize that the iPhone screen size never changed in the one dimension that defines its ability to be hold in one hand? Do you!![]()
Two new models of a great phone, and (finally!) with a decent screen size too!!
Too bad I went over to Samsung already.![]()
After 3 months with a Galaxy S4 I'd welcome an iPhone with a 5 inch screen, maybe a little smaller but definitely not bigger.
I traded the S4 for a 5S, iOS is still much better IMO. Although Android has improved a heap since I last checked it out with an S2.
Phones got smaller for a reason (from the 1990's).
Who would buy songs on iTunes when you can download them from Napster?
Why a touch screen on an iPhone when Blackberry and Nokia use keyboards?
Who needs a giant touch screen iPod when we have netbooks?
Your comment will be forgotten just like the rest that expressed doubt.
Agreed.
Don't want, don't need.
Next step up is a phablet.

And the benefit of this curvy thing is...?
OK, maybe I'm nuts, but I don't see the point of a bigger iPhone. The issue isn't that Apple could't do it. It's really not that hard to make something with a bigger screen. The issue is... why? I have average size hands, I mean, I can play a piano and get an octave spread so I figure that's average. I find the 4" screen on the iPhone 5(s/c) to be barely too big. I want to be able to use my phone with one hand. If I wanted to use two hands to use a phone, I'd say just stick cellular voice capability into the iPad mini and it would be great (I have big back pockets). Why make some phablet size?
Now, I understand that there are people with big hands who can palm a basketball and they would love a larger phone. But if you take a survey, I'd think Apple designed for the average sized person.
I believe if Apple went to a bigger screen, they would do it with edge-to-edge screen technology. In other words, the entire device would be the screen, at least the front. Of course this would require some intelligence to prevent false taps, etc. Such a think could be made out of sapphire since it would be more prone to wear (especially if it curved at the edges which could be possible. Also, it would need to be a solid sheet of scratch-proof material to contain the TouchID and camera which would be situated in the screen. How is this done? Pure Bleeping Magic I suppose.
It will be interesting to see what Apple does, but I can guarantee you they won't make the screen larger until they can maintain the same form factor (one-handed use) and ample battery with a favorable weight.
Just get an iPad mini and be done with it!
And instead of answering it, you covered it up with more questions.
The curved screen DOES NOT have any logical reason to exist at all, unlike those three you mentioned.
My Nexus is curved a bit like that picture. The curve makes it:
- Easier to fit into a pocket than a flat chunky phone.
- Follows the curve of my thumb motion better.
- Helps protect the front from face down falls.
Most people who've used a curved and/or larger screen phone, understand their appeal.
Even when Sir Johnny later making his typical iPhone video, and suddenly saying 4.6" iPhone is perfect for your thumb to reach from "here" to "here" ..?
So you were not upgrading from 3.5" iPhone to 4" iPhone as of today? I thought Steve said 3.5" is the bestest phone display ever created? Just like 9.7" iPad is the only appropriate size for tablet? Turns out they were all wrong, were they?
Agreed.
