Wait, Bloomberg posted the wrong rumor. What they really meant to predict was the iOrb, a transparent sphere projecting 3D holographic images inside, to be released in 2024. Made of sapphire, it will have a single button on the bottom and a clever scheme for veiling internal components to give an appearance of emptiness. The device will include a breath sensor, so that when combined with iOS 21 (code named 'Wizard'), users can blow away a "misty lock screen" to reveal the image of Sirinoush, Apple's AI-driven oracle-like personal assistant. The iOrb will have a 2.78" radius, making it perfectly comfortable for one-handed interaction. In a surprise move, Samsung will be releasing the Phorb two months sooner, boasting a 5" radius to give users a more "gripping" experience, and a lock screen simulating the eye of Sauron.

Apple samsung and any/everyone else can make a 10" phone for all I care. I personally won't use/buy a phone bigger than iphone 5 (which IMO is still a bit bigger than what I'd prefer). I don't have baby hands. I don't have huge hands either. Typing and even browsing on the 4" iPod touch is miles better (only taking single hand accessibility into account) than my note 2 which is collecting dust as I went back to my trusty old dumb phone which atleast fits better in my shirt pocket and doesn't need two hands just to make a phone call. For anything else, I already have an over 3x bigger screen than the note 2, ie my ipad, most of the times anyways.

The only way I'll buy a phone with a screen bigger than 4" is if the screen folds/rolls in half making it no bigger than the current iphone when not in use. Samsung should have one within the next couple of years or so and apple should be closely behind too hopefully. Until then, 4" is as big as I'll get.

Why does anyone think one size fits all. There are so many comments in this thread justifying apples choice of one size as the max a phone should be.

I'm an apple fan but I consider their choice to stick with one small size albeit a great one as a massive mistake.

They did a 5C mistake big one, when another size 5-6 inch would have been preferable and more profitable and please the many many people who consider the iphone too small. It's not about copying samsung or maximising profits the consumer deserves a choice.

When the iphone make 50% of your profit why the hell is there only one size available when laptops and tablets enjoy multiple sizes. Madness.

That's not the point.

I just love this constant bitching going on, from all sides, the minute any news about any possible plans that Apple might have is surfacing!! It is just hilarious... What is up Guys!? Why so much passion about a screen size!?? And why so much hate towards people that likes the current screen size!? Its called personal preferences... you like this, they like that! Give it a rest will you!?

And secondly... I am also amuzed at how the discussion regarding screensize, is ALL about screensize! What I dont think you get, is that people that prefer the current size of the iPhone, like myself, wouldn't mind the SCREENsize to increase... AS LONG as the size of the actual phone doesn't change!! If you can squeze your 4.7 inch into a form factor that is the same as the current iphone 5S, then I, and I am pretty sure I speak for most of the people you call Apple fanboys (for prefering what is in our hands!), wouldn't mind the screensize to increase at all! No bother... it's all about the form factor Guys!! And the minute Apple has worked out how to do this... I am pretty sure you'll get your larger screens!!

untill then... Give it a rest... please!?

I think screen size of up to 5 inches is accpetable for a phone, but if they call it a phone and i can't use it with one hand while i'm standing in a bus or train then it's not a phone.

LOL -

Apple's iPhone in 5.7" screen size??! You already know how pathetic that will be (see iPad mini/ipad air sizes) - what a waste of space.

Android and bigger screens is like honey and tea. Apple's iOS and bigger screens is like fly on ******.

It doesn't work and looks pathetically ugly unless iOS 8 does differently with the hone screen configuration. iOS works perfectly with tiny screen sizes only.

I actually own the new Note 3 after selling my iPhone 5 and let me tell you I will never go back to an iPhone again even if it is 6" screen size if they keep iOS the same way.

Android 4.3 is just great! Android phones > iPhones. iPads > all!

Because they can't can they? For me, and I'm sure others, 4" is too small and 7" is to large for a phone. Where as 5" would be perfect.
Totally agree. Before deciding on the Note 3 (go big or go home! :)) I played around with a LG G2, and that is as close to a perfect form factor as I've come across yet. Lots of screen to work with, but still fits really nice in an average size hand, fits great in my front pocket, etc.

For front pocketing a phone, I've had worse experience with the iPhone 5 form factor than any other phone I've owned. It's tall and narrow, so it falls over sideways. My Nexus 4 was great, even my Note 3 tends to ride in the pocket better than my iPhone 5.

Lol looks like Apple is going to copy Samsung and go with larger screens. I'd love to hear what the fanboys are going to say about this one.

This ^^. I usually wear t-shirt and jeans or, if I'm in a meeting, shirt and jeans. If my phone won't fit in my jeans pocket it becomes a burden. I've moved on from carrying a case full of papers/notebooks/pens etc and can live happily with just my phone for notes, recordings, internet access (as well as calls/txts!).

Do people buy clothes with big pockets specially to hold these large phones?
How come Desktops, which for me can be any size that takes everything I want, be getting smaller (I'm looking at you nMacPro and new "thinner" iMac) yet mobile stuff, which I want to be smaller, is getting bigger? Something wrong with the universe here. Or is it just me. Answers on a postcard please.

Who would buy songs on iTunes when you can download them from Napster?

Why a touch screen on an iPhone when Blackberry and Nokia use keyboards?

Who needs a giant touch screen iPod when we have netbooks?

Your comment will be forgotten just like the rest that expressed doubt.

I didn't take his comment like that. I took it as actually asking, what makes a curved screen better!

I truly believe that the next iPhone will keep the 4in display and we won't see a bigger display. They just raised the screen size last year, and even though basically a iphone 5, they introduced a new iphone. This doesn't sound like apple. What made then successful was focusing on a few great products and the last time they deviated off that track we all know what happened. Oh, and that was a Steve job-less time as well.

A larger screen iPhone is coming, it's not if, but when. Perhaps they will keep a model of the current size too and people can chose either size.

Just get an iPad mini and be done with it!

iPad mini is huge compared to the Note 3, the note 3 fits into the average pocket with ease, I'd like to see an iPad mini fit into a Jean pocket. The iPad mini also cannot make cellular phone calls.

Not to mention this rumoured 5.5 inch screen is still smaller than the note 3 so why do people keep making rediculous comparisons like this?

Hope this is true. I went to a Nexus 4 and now the wife wants a nexus 5. All because of the iPhones crappy little screens.

And this is a house that it filled with an excessive amount of Apple products. :)

"The main problem with a large screen is it doesn't fit comfortably in the hand. At Apple, we've been searching for a solution that will allow us to bring a larger screen to the iPhone, without compromising the experience. Using a revolutionary new technique, we've been able to actually bend glass and create an iPhone that not only gives the user a larger screen, but also fits the contours of the hand. Nobody has been able to do this before. It's simply amazing." -Johny Ive, Sept 2014

Haha! Just read that in his voice. Perfect.

Why does everyone want bigger screens? I don't want a huge phone in my pocket, thats going backwards. That samsung phone looks ridiculous.
