I'm not a purist, but the current iP5 form factor is just about the limit for comfortable one hand use. Also comfortable enough to go in my pocket jeans, jacket or suit. Anything bigger is just going to be difficult to use one hand and forget trying to put it in my pocket or suits. I just hope Apple doesn't fall into the Marketshare trap and start building ginormous phones.

Who would buy songs on iTunes when you can download them from Napster?

Why a touch screen on an iPhone when Blackberry and Nokia use keyboards?

Who needs a giant touch screen iPod when we have netbooks?

Your comment will be forgotten just like the rest that expressed doubt.

Do you have an actual answer? What does the curved screen do?

Iphone Mini :Mid -Range iphone 4inch
Iphone Air: 4.7Inch Smartphone
Iphone Pro : 5.5 Inch Phablet
I love Big screen iphone With Pen .

Some people (like me) just prefer a slightly bigger phone that run iOS. What's wrong with that?

Fragmentation. Besides, when you have more than one flagship iPhone, it kills off the "iPhone collectors". Those people who buy THE latest and greatest iPhone every year. The first iPhone should have had a 4" screen, too. The 3.5" vs 4" thing is a problem.

I agree with you, and I don't even think they need to shrink the bezel. The iPhone is perfect as is (which is why it outsells all the huge screened Samsung phones put together: Samsung gets its big sales numbers from small screened el-cheapo phones.)

Yes, and even though 'everyone wants the Nokia (whatever they said)', the iPhone remains the number one stolen phone. If the Nokia crap was 'all that', their crap would top the list, right?

/tangent:
I just put the 'New Windows(TM)' on my HP notebook, the one that sits on a shelf and I have to charge up the battery every time because it sits so long unused that the battery dies, and 8.1 still sucks dead monkey butt!

'Oh you will love it if you get one' the female AT&T salesdroid purred last night. 'The Nokia's are FAR better than the iPhone'... 'For every one iPhone we sell, we sell 15 Nokia's' the male AT&T salesdroid droned... 'They really are that good' he cheekily said in front of the customer who was just finishing buying what looked like a gold 5s.

Sure. I have to wait until the end of 2014! to get a new phone under the AT&T plan. Sure, I'm going to buy outright a Nokia and have to keep it for TWO YEARS? Nope. I'll wait for the iPhone 6, thanks. At least it won't smell of stale monkey butt... :D

Looking forward to the release and the comments from all those iPhone purists who have been laughing at any screen bigger than 4 inches. :D

Including the biggest iPhone purist...Apple...that claimed "it's not just bigger...it's just right" in relation to a 4" screen!

I can't wait to see how their marketing department spins that!

How does a curved screen help anyone with anything?

iPhone_6_curved_screen.jpg

Cool! ?

Well, I'm placing my money on it NOT being a good year unless something changes quite soon. I wouldn't even need to see the article on Steve Jobs's death to know that he's not alive anymore.

You assume that he would have made different choices... Interesting... This is getting way to messianic...

We probably would not have the iPad mini. We probably wouldn't have the Lightning connector. We probably wouldn't have the new iOS. We perhaps wouldn't have the new Touch. We most likely would not have three different models of the iPad selling at the same time, but who knows...

I'm a girl with baby hands, one handed use is nice but doesn't really work for me without a strain; admit it, portrait typing can be painful even for those with small hands. I actually liked typing landscape on the Galaxy. The best one handed phone I have had is the blackberry bold and that's because it's short, it's also the most pocketable.

I wear tight, tight, skinny jeans and the Galaxy S2 with a case fit. So... I kinda question what people are wearing that a bigger iPhone would be too big.

That said, I'm for the option of a 4.7 iPhone that's slightly wider and overall smaller than the Galaxy, and while I don't want it, people should have the option of having a Note size phone. I kinda don't care about curved glass but I'm sure when Apple releases it (probably 2015 or so), they'll make it useful.

What I really care about though is a digitizer, preferably on the iPad. The Note series has it and it actually makes me consider going android again (which was horrible and makes me want Apple to take a spin on it).

what's the point of a curved screen? Larger screen? I can see that, but do not understand what a curved screen is for.

Alleged iPhone 6 prototype

A) That's a really old mockup.

B) You're oracleing it wrong. Take an object approximately the size of an 5.5" iPhone and put it into your pocket. What happens? It's so large that it snuggles around your leg.

So, I'd say that, in order to comfortably fit into your pocket, it'd need to have a concave screen and a convex back instead of being convex on both sides.

Like three of those on top of each other.

To me, 4 and 5 inch iPhones make sense.

People who like the smaller screen size will still be able to have it at the same specs of the 5 inch, yet people who may want a larger screen will be able to get that.
Good point. 4.7 sounds a bit big for those that prefer one handed operation. Hopefully Applw gets this right

I have no idea what the point of a curved screen is, other than to say, "look how cool this curved screen is!" Form over function IMO. If anyone can offer one plus a curved screen has over my iPhone's flat screen, I'll listen.

Now, the screen size is another matter. That IS the biggest issue I have with my iPhone. It's just too slim. Add another half inch horizontally and maybe it's a decent starting size.

A 5.5" screen (with a new aspect ratio/the iPhone 5 is way too skinny) would be sweet. iPhone 6 with new design, larger screen, faster CPU... iOS 8???? Yeah, I'm so on board. I was unlucky enough to get a 5 before the 5s came out... didn't think VM was going to get the phone in a timely manner. I was wrong. Then I smashed my screen in a fall, so bad all around. iCan't wait for iPhone 6!!!

If Apple releases a phablet, it should be 5.7" not 5.5".

I've said it before, 5.7" happens to be exactly half an iPad mini screen, which would give it a resolution of 1536x1024 at 326DPI.

It would make it easier for devs, and make split-screen multitasking easy on iPads since it would be possible to run two phablet apps side by side.

Like I said before, why not just combine the iPad, iPod & iPhone lines and offer sizes in something like 4", 7" and 10" (and maybe 13"). All sizes have 3 options: Wi-Fi only, Wi-fi + Data, and Wi-fi + Data + Voice. That way, people can have the size they want and the features they want.

Because they can't can they? For me, and I'm sure others, 4" is too small and 7" is to large for a phone. Where as 5" would be perfect.

Wtf???

A curved screen???

Who's F'up mind did they retrieve the mushrooms from for the person who typed up this nonsense??

I wish Apple would quit toying around with these devices and focus more on iOS and bringing their apps up to speed. I know the App Store has 3rd party apps but the icons all look like garbage and they really make the beautiful interface pointless. Apple should really focus more on improving their apps and adding more gestures to iOS, like a system wide touch hold and really making the functionality more dynamic.

Now how are you supposed to hold it??
