Can you name something truly useful that Apple Intelligence has brought to the table so far? I turned summaries off. The rest of the features largely don’t exist or aren’t inherently visible to me; I can’t even think of a single useful one. At the same time, I can’t even search my text messages for a name that’s already in my contacts.
I thought my sarcasm came through…..

Apple does not respect your privacy any more than Google does and anyone who says otherwise is either selling you something or grossly misinformed.

Apple is beholden to shareholders and their only goal is to make as much money as possible. There's no such thing as enough money to investors. They always need more and if they run out of ways to make more money they'll sell your data too.
If you don't think so you're just fooling yourself.

Disappointing to see more ads. Surely it will bring in more revenue for Apple but not a nice move for customers. Hopefully with all the ads, the map user interface and overall experience is not compromised.

I’ll move to another maps app if this becomes reality. Apple Maps is missing so many businesses and points of interest anyway.

And as someone else said the Yelp integration is outdated. Does anyone actually use or care about Yelp reviews anymore? It’s so lame when I’m using Maps in CarPlay and it tells me that the grocery store I’m looking for has 4 stars on Yelp. Who in the flying F cares how many stars a grocery store has?

What innovations? The only innovation that wasn’t on Steves product roadmap was the M chip series and Tims supply chain optimization. The last years have been a disaster in terms of products for Apple and software got worse over the years. Even right after he died most new product were a disaster. New MacBooks in the 2010s had massive issues, trashcan Mac Pro, current Mac Pro, weird first gen Apple Pencil, magic mouse (yes the port on the bottom was after Steve), iPhone 6 bending, HomePod, Siri, Maps, VP, AirPower, AI etc. Airpods were successful but thats it. Everything new flopped and because they put so much effort in the stupid VR headset they fell behind in the AI race.
And the car that never launched.

I give you: Maps+
Apple one subscribers don’t get ads in Apple products?

Terrible but I could see this happening in the end.

‘Nice ad free map experience you have.

Shame if anything should happen to it.

But if you pay us for Apple One each month, there’s nothing to worry about. We’ll look after you.

Everyone else? Too bad.’

If they were innovating and creating new products people actually want, it wouldn’t be an issue.

On the other hand, maybe we have enough technology. Maybe what would really improve our lives (especially in America) is public healthcare, less pollution, more green space, and more time with family and friends

It seems like the new technology coming out (like Vision and AI) take us further away from the humane lives we would be happiest living. And maybe that’s why Apple can’t seem to move forward on anything
That’s a really profound comment thanks, even though it makes me sad.

Here we all all are, careering into a dystopian cyberpunk present / near future.

But at least we’ll have cool toys (with ads).

Time to watch the original robocop again & start another play through of cyberpunk 2077, to help get myself ready for all of this.

I’d buy that for a dollar!

Apple Maps could feature integrated ads as soon as next year, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.

iOS-26-Maps-Glass.jpg

In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple's plan to bring more ads to iOS is moving "gaining traction," with the Maps app being next in line. The project will apparently give restaurants and other businesses the option to pay to have their details featured more prominently in search.

The system is said to be similar to Search Ads in the App Store, which allows developers to pay to have their software appear in a promoted slot above other results for relevant queries. Apple's approach reportedly leverages AI to deliver relevant and useful results, in a better interface than similar offerings from Google and other companies. Gurman warned that the move risks some amount of consumer backlash.

Well, that’s one way to get people to stop updating their devices…

Let me get this correct. I buy a product, then pay a service fee every month to use that product (cell service). Then pay another monthly fee to use that product at home because cell service sucks inside (internet). Then pay another fee for the cool stuff that my device can do (iCloud+, streaming services, etc). Then the companies I paid money to for years decide to take that money and build massive data centers in my city claiming they will provide hundreds of jobs, only to jack up my energy bills by 200+% because they use so much energy. Then they put ads everywhere saying they need revenue to provide great products. All while bringing in more money than even oil companies. Explain to me why I should keep my devices now? How about we all just ditch our devices and go back to using cash?
Cellular, Wi-Fi not Apple fees so doesn’t really ad up to what Apple ask, the cloud+ is not needed for Maps so again it does not count on this Maps thing.

I am all again at Ads especially when you buy a product partially because of that, it is nice to have a bloatware free os, but claiming all this expenses on Apple…. They would apply to any manufacturer.

Besides, if you download of that apply ex as you would be using GPS for free…

“We make money when we sell devices. We think the user experience should be the product, not something you exploit."
"Our goal is to make the best devices in the world, not to make money off our users."
-Steve Jobs
The same buy who promise iTools free for life then making it paid later on right?
This quote is out of context, of course they want to make money, it’s a business, what he ment was that if you make quality product people will want to buy, you will succed.

Besides, givi g services that cost money for free is not a Smart business move, would you prefere them to make you pay a Map+ at 14 dollari a month to remove ads?

It is not like Apple Maps was good to begin with. So ads will make the app even a little bit less relevant for users...

I cannot write that I will "move away" as others did, because I never adopted Apple Maps in the first place. It sits here, I use it once in a while when other options do not work, just in case (and rarely see it give me a useful piece of information that I do not already have).

A company that never used ad's in their products but have now started to, do so for one of two reasons, company survival due to lack of money or greed. You decide which one Apple fits into.

Wow.
This makes me very, VERY sad.

Clearly there is never enough money for Apple. They are moving more and more to the Google model every year.

It's the same in the other direction - Google having moved into HW.

The bottom line is that that's the system of capitalism - it's never-ending growth regardless of the consequences.
