No 3G in Western Mass. for ATT

Still no 3G service in Western Mass.... I'm bailing ATT as soon as my contract is up and switching to Verizon. Even if ATT gets 3G service here before then, they already blew it as far as I am concerned.

AT&T sucks....

I was without service for about 30 minutes today, despite three bars. I don't have a contract, so I am ditching my iPhone ---thank God I have an iPad --- for another PAYG plan.

I will think about the iPhone again if, and when, it comes to Verizon.

i'm one of those who will jump ship if verizon gets the phone. i'm tired of at&t and the reception issues. i think at&t is smoking something if they don't think many people will leave. i hope verizon has a good data plan. if so, it'll make it really easy for many people to leave at&t.

I love reading the comments in threads like this from AT&T users that are now saying things like, "Good, I'm glad! Just let it come, so everyone can stop whining about it!" You know that it's going to happen sooner rather than later, and now you're just pissed that you won't feel as special, with more people carrying around iPhones than before.

No, we are just honestly sick and tired of hearing about it. (and yes, I DO speak for all of us :D )

Well if Verizon comes along with the iPhone that will be great for all of us. Hopefully compettiion will force AT&T to lower their plan prices and make it more affordable.
As far as AT&T service is OK for me, Verizon should be alright, so I don't really care who the service provider really is, I want cheaper prices for plans. :D

There are just so many things wrong with this story.

The biggest being that Apple would allow the CEO of Verizon to announce the iPhone at CES.

If Apple creates a CDMA iPhone it will be only for the China market.

Apple does not want to explain to customers that they can't jump from AT&T to Verizon and still use the same phone.

Also they refuse to release a product with another companies branding on it, which is what Verizon wants, they want their logo on the phone.

I for one would love to see the iPhone on Verizon, just so that this non-story would go away.

It's funny that Verizon has so many different Android phones on their network, yet the phone that gets the press for them is the phone which is not on their network.

How badly would it hurt Android if the iPhone came out Verizon?

LOL, you should compare Verizon and AT&T's plans. They are very similar, with the few exceptions where Verizon is more.

Fuel on the fire.

I'm not sure if anyone knows this but the Verizon early upgrade promo is not just for Droid X's but it's for ANY Verizon smartphone. Also the promo happens to end August 31st 2010. Interestingly enough the Apple event is in September.

On another note Verizon mad ALL 4 of my lines eligible now, even two that are not eligible for upgrade until next spring. I found that quite odd.

I'm sorry if someone has already answered this, but would the iPhones that we have right now be able to be used with verizon or will we need to buy new phones?

I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to phones and carrier specifics. :)

No they would not. Current iPhones do not contain the need chips for the CMDA networks.

Well that pisses me off then, personally. I've been dealing with AT&Ts bull crap for almost 4 years now (had a Razr before iPhone) and jumping ship to verizon would be very beneficial to me. I just feel like it's a kick in the teeth that they would scheme to lock us into AT&T with not only our contracts, but on the hardware aspect of it.

Blah Blah Blah

This will NEVER happen.

Verizon is moving away from it's antiquated, slow CDMA network.....LTE is the future. Apple will not manufacture a CDMA iPhone...ever. That means that Verizon won't get an iPhone until it's 4G-LTE footprint is big enough not to rely on CDMA as a backup. Verizon has said that this will not occur until 2013-2014.

If anyone is next, T-Mobile is. They use the same 4G technology. Sprint uses WiMax and are once again, clueless.

The real question is, which carrier will Steve use?:p

or more appropriate which way he will hold it :D

change the radio in the iPhone or lose out 3 years of possible revenue, which is easier?

You do know that CDMA backup will be there for the next 10-20 years. Verizon will require their phones to have that fall back for a long time.

Just like on GSM players with 3G they still have to support Edge and GPRS

Lose what revenue? Apple's iPhone is a global product because they did not choose CDMA. They can't make them fast enough. Production limits is holding them back, not potential Verizon customers at this point.

And that limitation last for how long. Oh yeah a month or 2. After that they have plenty of phones to meet supply.

Limit you time to new blackberries released since the first Storm. All those released since then are world phone and contain both.

Blackberry 8530 says hello. :)

Really? Exactly what 4G technology do they currently use?

Sprint uses WiMax and are once again, clueless.

Yeah, about that.... http://newsroom.clearwire.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=214419&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1456462&
