So if Kaepernick was given a fine for wearing beats on Sunday, how these guys weren't given a fine for wearing them on Monday..

How is it tacky? Bose got Apple's Beats headphones banned from the NFL. Have you been watching the news? Apple SHOULD discontinue their relationship with Bose. It's counterproductive to keep a business relationship with a company who just had your product banned from being seen on TV.

are you serious?

I see comments like these a lot, but nobody mentions any real alternatives! I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I'm just curious:

What are the best, highest quality headphones/speakers money can buy?
What are the highest quality headphones under $40?

Grado! for headphones, and made in Brooklyn.

both brands are overpriced, but I would much rather buy Bose than Beats.

Frankly I find what Apple is doing here is anti-competitive. but hey, I don't buy accessories from Apple store anyway, so it doesn't bother me.

Anti-Competitive? After reading your ridiculous post now I know people just want Apple to fail at any costs.

Bose just had Apple's Beats headphones banned from the NFL. Why in hell SHOULD Apple continue a relationship with a company that is screwing them over? Are you kidding yourself?

It's called marketing and protecting the brand. You wouldn't see Sony stores selling the X-Box or Microsoft stores selling the PS4. Apple owns Beats now so selling a competing brand in their own stores is not good marketing.

As far as the NFL, Bose has paid mega millions for their exclusive deal..and yes..when a player is on camera representing their team, they're also representing the NFL..which has an exclusive deal with Bose. So they have the right to not allow NFL players to wear Beats product while representing the NFL. If a player wants to do a commercial for Beats on their...they can. They just can't say "NFL" use or the name of their team.

I worked on commercials for AT&T with an NFL quarterback. Because of the NFL's deal with Verizon, he could only say "hi I'm _______, quarterback". He could not say the name of his team. This is the way exclusive deals work.

Sooooo does this mean they are going to ditch Bowers and Wilkins products too then?

You know cause Beats products OBVIOUSLY sound sooooo much better than anything B&W has made  [Sarcastic hat on there BTW]

Seems like an utterly stupid move by Apple, the Bose 2.1 system seems to be very popular with Apple folk. But as they now have to directly compete with every other Audio product manufacturer then I guess this is inevitable.
Good luck to them, they'll certainly need it!
Clearly this was a retaliation for the Bose NFL stuff. I would do the same. Who wouldn't do the same? It's called business.

Why on earth are people baning on about NFL sponsorship deals for?

This is ENTIRELY Apple's MO, it simply removes all competition from sale if it can to increase it's own market share and profits, it's what all corporations dream off!

You can still buy Bose hardware pretty much anywhere if that brand appeals more to you and others.
To me Beats is a bit overpriced. Still like more Pioneer for serious headset. Bose audio systems for cars are awesome though.

Bose is going down though. They used to make premium equipment but now their stuff looks so cheap.

So if Kaepernick was given a fine for wearing beats on Sunday, how these guys weren't given a fine for wearing them on Monday..

I think the issue is Kaepernick was wearing the headphones during a press conference that was less than 90 minutes after the game. They certainly can't wear them on the sidelines during the game (if they aren't playing). My guess is pre-game, they aren't technically on tv so the NFL isn't really pushing the issue there as much.

Beats is still advertising. Players just can't wear them before, during, or 90 minutes after game if doing interviews. Beats can still run an ad during the game or anytime they want.

Yes.

But the advertisment from the players wearing the head phones while giving interviews to the media that will get shown all day/night and into the next morning on all the evening news and sports channels will be lost.

This will not be made up from a ad during the game.

Very Petty Apple. I'm still not going to buy those Beats shiite. Got a set of Bose headphones and speakers. Brilliant sound quality. I'll just buy them somewhere else next time I want to upgrade. No big deal. Less money for the Apple Store.

Can anyone explain to me why it is anticompetitive? Or why they feel that this is another competitive? I don't see Samsung stores carrying Apple products nor Microsoft carrying Apple products. Not being a troll. Just really curious why forum members like to say these things about Apple

THIS ⇑⇑⇑ is a very good post because it's idiotic for anyone to call this move from Apple Anti-competitive. Why keep a troll on your store shelves? Apple also sells Bang & Olufsen, Bowers & Wilkins, Denon..etc. These are all premium brands.

Bose screwed up by getting the Beats headphones banned from the NFL. Bose just isn't where they used to be and they're the ones being anticompetitive and will take a huge nose dive from their antics.

im just baffled by who in their right mind would use the term "banned from" when this revolves around two consenting parties (nfl and bose) signed an exclusive contract.

so childish.
Exactly. What Bose and the NFL did was a business deal. What apple is doing is basically a business equivalent to a child throwing a temper tantrum.

As I said, it's within their rights. But it's shady business and borders on stepping on an individual's freedom (not by law, I know I know).

Have you ever had a job? There are restrictions on what you can do and wear at almost any company. Wearing Beats headphones is not a right that NFL players have when they are at work. They are free to wear Beats anywhere else they want. No rights have been violated especially when the players agreed to not wear competing products during and after games.

Apple probably has quite limited number of stock keeping units, so it makes perfect sense to get rid of redundancy (and less profitable) lines. This seems like a logical and good move.

And?? What's your point?
It's one less purchasing opportunity for Bose to have. I agree with the NFL as it relates to uniforms, drinks, food and other essential football and stadium gear. However, non essentials like headphones I think its crossing a line. It would be like Apple telling employees they couldn't come to work if they use a competing product like a Galaxy Phone. Even then I can understand Apple's concern with this scenario because it's a direct competitor. However, the NFL isn't in the headphones market so....

Not only the NFL stuff, but don't forget that as soon as Apple bought Beats, Bose began the process to sue Apple for copyright infringement in the noise canceling technology that Beats uses. Bose did this move as soon as a company with deeper pockets owned them.
