Can anyone explain to me why it is anticompetitive? Or why they feel that this is another competitive? I don't see Samsung stores carrying Apple products nor Microsoft carrying Apple products. Not being a troll. Just really curious why forum members like to say these things about Apple

Like I said in another post. This is an accessory that works with one of apples main products. In this case, headphones. Apple isn't carrying surface pros or note series tablets. However, apple is still carrying headphones made by other companies. They have however, just dropped a brand they've been carrying for years because that brand made a deal like many others do with the NFL.

How is it tacky? Bose got Apple's Beats headphones banned from the NFL. Have you been watching the news? Apple SHOULD discontinue their relationship with Bose. It's counterproductive to keep a business relationship with a company who just had your product banned from being seen on TV.

Did you even bother to read the story? Bose didn't get anyone banned. The NFL banned the players from wearing Beats headphones. The NFL not Bose. It's NFL policy to only allow players to display branded goods from official NFL sponsors during press interviews, etc. Walking down the high street the players can wear whatever they want.

Very Petty Apple. I'm still not going to buy those Beats shiite. Got a set of Bose headphones and speakers. Brilliant sound quality. I'll just buy them somewhere else next time I want to upgrade. No big deal. Less money for the Apple Store.

Beats is **** but Bose has brilliant sound quality?

From recent reviews of the Beats Solo 2 it seems that Beats is actually improving their sound quality beyond anything Bose produces. The only thing Bose has going for them is their noise cancellation and comfort. Sound quality is out of their reach.

You can still buy Bose hardware pretty much anywhere if that brand appeals more to you and others.
To me Beats is a bit overpriced. Still like more Pioneer for serious headset. Bose audio systems for cars are awesome though.

This the funniest comment I have read in a while.

Have you ever had a job? There are restrictions on what you can do and wear at almost any company. Wearing Beats headphones is not a right that NFL players have when they are at work. They are free to wear Beats anywhere else they want. No rights have been violated especially when the players agreed to not wear competing products during and after games.
It depends competing products is a moving target. People draw the line at clothes and food. I think that is the appropriate line. I think the NFL crossed the line in dictating what electronics can be used by players at games. Most people will agree with that.

Exactly. What Bose and the NFL did was a business deal. What apple is doing is basically a business equivalent to a child throwing a temper tantrum.

I do agree with you to some extent, but I don't think it makes Apple look bad, at least not long-term. It is stretching the free advertising and the story they got from that $10k fine. I guess it depends on how you want to look at it.

Bose also begain the process to sue Apple for copyright infringement in the noise cancelation tech that Beats uses. This was done as soon as Apple, a company with deep pockets, received ownership. Perhaps this NFL thing was icing on the cake.

It's one less purchasing opportunity for Bose to have. I agree with the NFL as it relates to uniforms, drinks, food and other essential football and stadium gear. However, non essentials like headphones I think its crossing a line. It would be like Apple telling employees they couldn't come to work if they use a competing product like a Galaxy Phone. Even then I can understand Apple's concern with this scenario because it's a direct competitor. However, the NFL isn't in the headphones market so....

Okay than take issue with Gatorade. Because they were one of the first to do this over 20 years ago. Yet no outrage has been seen their way yet.

I bought mine for comfort.

I never said it was a bad move. I really don't think it will hurt apple. I do however think it just looks childish. While apple and bose may have their issues with the noise cancelling tech. I don't know enough about it to comment on who is right and who is wrong. Here however, I do know why Apple removed Bose. I mean seriously, apple is still using samsung to produce their parts yet they've sued the hell out of eachother over the years.

Bose gets mentioned.. Thread instantly fills up with Anti Bose sheep. Predictable! lol

Re-read and then edit your post. People can't drink water from another vendor because Gatorade is a sponsor. Lets see how well that will go over. The general public has a threshold for which they will tolerate this stuff. Clearly headphones crosses that line and it's getting media attention.

Read up on the NFL's breast cancer awareness campaign. The NFL is raking in billions from this campaign. While it is raising awareness which is great, companies like Beats (now Apple) are benefiting from it hugely. It is not truly some altruistic gesture for sure.

I've read and lived plenty of it, thanks. My aunt (2nd mother) passed away after a decade long battle with Breast Cancer. I do extensive research on any charity I give to or companies that claim to do so. This is a great tool for those of you who care to do the same. http://www.charitynavigator.org

It's not a secret and most people already know this. https://sports.vice.com/article/the-nfls-pink-october-does-not-raise-money-for-cancer-research

That's true for all of the NFL's "Awareness" campaign and their contribution (in the past) of 5% of all PROFITS from the sale of related goods.

Correct

Exactly. What Bose and the NFL did was a business deal. What apple is doing is basically a business equivalent to a child throwing a temper tantrum.
It depends on whether...

a) this is happening

b) this is happening at Apple's instigation, rather than Bose's

c) this is happening at Apple's instigation as a general consequence of the Beats acquisition, and has been planned for some time

d) this is happening at Apple's instigation in direct response to recent publicity surrounding the NFL/Bose deal (which predates Apple's acquisition of Beats)

Difficult to argue with b) unless Apple are demanding ridiculously low prices from Bose (quite possible).

I'd say that c) is possible but I'd have thought Apple/Beats would have made sure they had a much fuller range on sale first.

The Pinkbeatsgate nuclear option d) seems hugely unlikely, because it makes Apple look like arseholes.

I'm calling shenanigans, and declare this story to be completely fabricated.

Re-read and then edit your post. People draw a line at the clothes mark as far as what they think can and should be regulated at the work place. There is no rule saying Players can drink something other than Gatorade if they so chose. Sorry but people draw lines at a certain point.

They can't have a drink with a different companies label on it at NFL games

I think the issue is Kaepernick was wearing the headphones during a press conference that was less than 90 minutes after the game. They certainly can't wear them on the sidelines during the game (if they aren't playing). My guess is pre-game, they aren't technically on tv so the NFL isn't really pushing the issue there as much.

That's weird because according to the original article posted by macrumors, it's anytime before the game also..

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1796037/

"Thanks to a new marketing deal with Bose, NFL players will no longer be allowed to wear Apple's line of Beats headphones around television cameras, according to Re/code. The restriction is in place for TV interviews during training camp, practice sessions and game day, running from before the game or event through 90 minutes after play has ended."

Endorsement deals? You mean the ones where they got free advertising by players wearing their products in press conferences without the endorsement of the NFL? Beats can still advertise like every other company by actually paying for it. Beats will continue to advertise like they always do, they just want get free advertising as much.

What Beats have contracted with the NFL players is their business and the player's business.

I'm sure there is money exchanging hands there to so they are buying the service of the player to endorse their product so they are essentially buying "ad space" on the player's head/back of their neck.

Some of us own Bose speakers. I've stated on more than one occasion that I've purchased mine because of the comfort and not the sound...and that was months ago.

Bose WiFi SoundTouch series is very nice. Pretty much the only quality TRUE NATIVE Airplay system out there. Nothing to configure/install etc. Other systems with "Airplay" are noticeably not native Airplay systems.

Not as good as a traditional high-end stereo system with powerful amps of course but for smaller spaces they sound very nice and can be linked via wifi to numerous speakers around the house. Truly native Apple Airplay. I'd say a (tad) overpriced but there are no other WiFi NATIVE Airplay systems the come close. I'm surprised that this move considering that there isn't a "higher-end" native Apple Airplay offering by Beats. Again I'm talking Wifi not Bluetooth native Airplay systems.

I'm not an expert but I can tell you that I've been very happy with my Bose purchases. The Soundlink mini is by far the best mini iPod speaker I tested and I think I tested most of them. My brother got the Bose Soundbar for under his TV and he says the sound quality is excellent. I love my Bose headphones. They're really comfortable and I think the sound quality is excellent. I've tried the Beats products and I'm sorry but I though the sound quality was crap. They look smart but I'm not interested in that.

I remember putting on some dreBeats over-the-ear headphones in 2011/12 just to see what all the hype was and when they were turned up they tickled my ears from all of the vibration. I immediately put my Bose back on for my comfort.

I have recently, though, bought the new Beats wireless in-ear headphones and they're awesome for running/working out.
