It's not that unusual for stores to sell own brand and premium brand products. The less choice there is the less incentive there is to shop there.

Are you saying you wouldn't go to Apple Store to buy Apple products, because there is less choice there now with removal of Bose products??

Apple are THE PREMIUM BRAND. They are not Tesco or Aldi or Walmart, who carry their own brand and also premium products.

If Bose wants to give consumers choice of buying their products, they should be incentivizing and encouraging Apple to carry their products in their stores. If they do not, then Apple has no obligation towards Bose...

It is an Apple Store and their primary focus is Apple products. Everything else is secondary sales...

I'll stick with Bose, thank you.

Had a set of Beats Solo HDs. They were well built, but uncomfortable and the audio was muddy and distorted.

Listening to all you "experts" talk about audio equipment is so boring. Do you all have your listening rooms filled with the proper mahogany bookshelves and foam on the walls? You guys all sound like the Android people that come in here to run their mouths. If you like Beats, buy Beats. If you like Bose, buy Bose. Or if you think you're cool for spending $4k on some headphones, do that. End of conversation.

Then explain to me why Apple is discontinuing their relationship with Bose?

This is only me spit balling but I see three reasons with higher priority than the NFL spat. I personally see that spat as ancillary to the other reasons I will list.
1. Bose/Beats patent lawsuit. Bose is notorious for suing over alleged patent violations. You probably don't want to sell products from a company that is suing you.
2. The watch needs display space. I think Apple will go all out to make it a success.
3. Since the acquisition, Apple wants to feature Beats more prominently. Consensus seems to be Apple acquired Beats for the streaming service but why wouldn't they increase the exposure for a high margin, highly profitable, and highly marketable consumer product that leads it's category?

Couple those 3 with the NFL issue and you have a perfect storm. Seems more plausible than Apple throwing a hissy fit over NFL Policy.

By your logic....

So I guess if Apple goes to the DOJ and asks that Samsung phones be banned from entering the country, it's not Apple to blame. It's the DOJ to blame if they enforce it. Ok.

out of all the bad posts this brought the most lolz

Sane advise has no place on MR..... sit back and enjoy the ride....

Where have I EVER said that Beats were any good?

I have never owned a Beats product and unless they change to being about sound quality rather than just banging bass then I never will.

You do know Beats make specific headphones that are not bass-heavy, right? Wait, you didn't? That's OK, we could tell.

Disclosure: I currently own Senns, A-Ts, AKGs, and B&Ws, each for its own purpose. YMMV.

This is my point. By your own admission you have little to no experience of Bose products. And I'd wager a lot of anti Bose people posting here also have no experience of their products.
Me? I own an old set of Bose acoustimas speakers. They still work and sound great. I've also worked with their professional PA systems and the larger systems at least, were very good.
On top of that, I own a set of PMC studio monitors, Kef studio monitors, and a pair of Beyer Dynamic studio headphones. Plus i've worked in several recording studios (as well as my own) for over 20 years. So I know what professional sound is about, and I know from actual experience that Bose generally make gear to sound good, rather than be sonically accurate. Because accuracy doesn't always mean "enjoyable to listen to" believe it or not. Case in point, my PMC's have superior specs to the Bose by quite some margin. Yet, the Bose rig is nicer to listen to.
I can't fathom how you can say all these statements in the same paragraph with a straight face. So, "good" is better than "accurate"?? What are you playing through all these speakers? Because voice, synth, horns, strings, etc, all sound hella different. So, which of them are better with Bose "good" instead of sounding like the original sources?

Believe me, I've auditioned many, many speakers, including lots of Bose. I'm not saying anything from a lack of ever hearing them. What are you doing in these recording studios?

Apple is a premium computer/mobile device mfg, but they aren't a premium audio company or audio specialty store. That's where the difference lies. Apple/Beats doesn't make headphones that cater to the high end premium market when it comes to audio because that market is VERY small niche market. The mass market for headphones is the $45 to $350 and it ends there. The Premium market for headphones is $350 on up to about $5,000 and since that demographic is VERY small, they make very small quantities, they use high cost materials and a lot more precision, hence the higher price to the consumer. There are some of the higher end mfg that are bringing their headphones down to more realistic price points because they mfg them in China, but they still use higher quality materials, etc. But the local Apple store when it comes to audio products is still a mass merchandise market, but they slim down what they carry because of shelf space.

If only you had the option of not "listening" to the internet. Sad times....

BTW, if you want to talk about high-end listening rooms, there should be no bookshelves. Those would be outside to not create random reflections. Duh.

People buying Bose and Beats equipment are clueless.

So are everyone supposed to be audiophiles and get M50s or yamaha studio monitors?

ridiculous. i have Beats pros and they're nice, it has good bass which i want for rap and has crystal clear sound, i can hear every instrument. Yes the m50s vocals are much clean and crisp WITH an AMP. but I'm not going to carry around an amp everywhere and i want clean sound with hard bass. M50 doesnt provide that.

i have a Bose bluetooth speaker, that gives me great sound everywhere i go, its much better than a jam box or beats pill (beats pill is the worst)

i cant carry around a studio monitor + amp when I'm traveling.

good luck with your tunnel view thinking. I'm sure you dont seem like a stubborn ignorant individual to others with that type of thinking.

and bose headphones generally dont appeal to me because i like bass, bose has a crisp clear sound that also focuses on vocals and instruments.

it has bass but not enough for me.

so is everyone supposed to get m50s like you say or they're imbeciles? what are you going to say when m50s get bigger and they start getting investment and raise their prices?

you'll be saying the same thing. my friend likes the m50s and he stick with them, i like the beat pros so i stick with them. its not like he cant afford it, his preference is the m50s.

so is everyone supposed to go with YOUR preference?

hey theres a swap meet shirt that looks just like a burberry shirt, so should everyone stop buying burberry and get 20 dollar swap meet shirts?

Opinion
I go to the Apple store to buy Apple products. I don't care if they carry other sound equipment.

Reaction
I would expect them to carry the Beats stuff because they own the company and everything else they carry is per their choosing regardless of why. If WalMart bought Jockey, and then stopped carrying Fruit of the Loom I'd be just as surprised as I am at Apple making this move. Even if the NFL was sponsored by Fruit of the Loom and everyone was walking around in Jockey shorts.

Comments on what this thread has become, not having to do with the original "news".
As for the quality vs price of either brand's offering. I think most posts here are in agreement that neither are at the top of the sound industry. Hopefully we all know that arguing their position of quality vs. price is in almost every case 99.9% opinion. And hopefully we all know what opinions are like.

Overpriced junk shouldn't be sold in Apple Stores regardless of what you think of Beats.

Beats are ok...but very overpriced.

You can do much much better for your dollar.

Apple stores should just fall over then. Everything in there is overpriced.

beats have already featured quite prominently in their stores for years. the ipods are becoming a smaller segment with the classic just discontinued so space is opening up there.

also from points 2 and 3 one could assume that this would apply to other companies as well.

Your sarcasm detector is broken.

For the record, it's that whole "sweeping domestic violence incidents under the rug" thing that's corrupt.

I'm talking about the corporate sponsorship issue. It seems people want to bring up other facts to put down the NFL that have nothing to do with this issue. Not one person has shown any proof that this is illegal. In fact, the NFL has been doing this for over 30 years.

I'm sticking with Bose

Bose is ****. I have a Bose bluetooth speaker and I regret it everyday. I have to re-pair it DAILY. Plus the sound sucks.

I have two Bose Soundlinks: The Soundlink I and the Soundlink Mini. I have them paired with an iPhone, an iPod, an iPad and a MacBook Pro. I never have to re-pair them and the sound is great. You may need to visit the Bose customer service website to update the firmware in the speaker.

Apologies, but I am not quite sure what your post is saying. Comprehension tends to decrease with age, sorry. I was giving Henry my reasons for the removal of Bose. Is that what you're talking about as well? Again, the lack of understanding is most likely mine.

Hah! Been actually thinking about deleting myself off here and just checking the front page without diving into the cesspool.

You don't have to dive into 'cesspool' at all...

Once you learn to detach yourself from all the insults flying around, you will find there are many MR members who are really great in helping people who have genuine problems with their Apple products. Just follow their posts and you will find the experience more enjoyable....

A lot of people who trade insults on here, would be very civil to each other if they ended up meeting in real life... But it is easy to insult others in the net...

Ahem, without corporate sponsorships, sports could focus on "sports" again.

That ship has sailed. Without these sponsorships, salaries would have to significantly decrease and ticket prices would have to increase.
