Banned was obviously the wrong wording. I responded in frustration to the ridiculous claims here of Apple being Anti-competitive coupled with what the Colin Kaepernick being fined for wearing Beats during the post game.

Bose is being anti-compeitive signing a deal with the NFL to only display their headphones on the field. I thought there were anti-competitive laws in place. Guess not.

I really don't follow your logic. Bose paid to promote their brand with the NFL. How is that anti-competitive? If GM sponsored the NFL would you expect the players to drive on to the field in a Ford? The whole point of sponsorship is that you get to associate your brand with that sport. Beats could have ponied up the cash to sponsor the NFL if they wanted to.

There is a lot of tacky junk in Apple stores. It is tough when you have to simultaneously pretend you are both cutting edge technology and latest social trend all in one.

Bose is to that other audio gear as

A) as snappy is to sluggish
B) as iOS is to Android
C) as classical music is to gangster rap
D) as Steve Jobs is to Tim Cook

when in doubt choose "C"

Care to mention what tacking junk are you referring to? If you're gonna start by saying Beats, I agree with that but what else?

Should Apple start selling Android based phones in their stores?

I think you'll find it's a bit different to that scenario, for instance Apple has never ever sold anyone elses phones bar their own.
Yet they have sold select manufacturers audio products for years, so to then buy out one of these manufacturers and then remove a direct competitors products from sale in it's stores with NO explanation is different.

I would certainly expect BOSE to slam Apple for this, and if it really does have anything to do with some NFL sponsorship thing then it really is Cook and Co throwing all their toys out the pram like some 2 year olds tantrum. Very childish.
But I believe they have simply come up with some excuse we are not accustomed to in order to remove a competitor to their new business adventure from sale.

Overpriced junk shouldn't be sold in Apple Stores regardless of what you think of Beats.

Beats are ok...but very overpriced.

You can do much much better for your dollar.

No highs, no lows, must be Bose!

But can they go home on their Ferrari or they must drive for 90 minutes on a GM brand car and then switch to their car ?

Really??

There is nothing anti-competitive about it, Apple or any other retailer has the right to remove a product from it's stores whenever it wants and for any reason. Nobody cares if anyone hates Apple or Beats or Bose or the NFL, personal feelings mean nothing when it comes this.

The deal between Bose and the NFL is the problem and needs to be challenged by the players and coaches. Part of being a figure in professional sports is the players personal branding, which attracts fans to sports teams and players.
Like any organization, the NFL is focused on making a buck whenever possible and worry about the employees later.

as if Bose cannot be purchased elsewhere like at Target, Bestbuy, even Nordstrom.

it's just like back in the day when Coke and Costco had their dispute going on. Bose will realize how much sales they'll lose from not being in all Apple retail stores, apologize behind closed doors and boom! Bose will be back in retail stores. or not. and those who desire the Bose will be forced to purchase elsewhere.

I read it and it doesn't border on anything. You can make all the bold and italics you want. But nothing the NFL does with regard to regulating what NFL players wear borders on taking away players rights more than does having to wear a uniform to work at McDonalds.

Their uniform is the football gear on the field and maybe the warm up gear. Any accessories; (rings, necklaces, shoelaces, headphones) "shouldn't" be dictated. With your logic a person's fiance who works at McDs couldn't wear an engagement ring from Tiffany's because McDonald's has a deal with Jared.

There is no law stopping the NFL (and there never will be one) from not allowing their players to wear what they want but that doesn't make it NOT shady business...

I for one cannot agree with a company that puts on a half time show and expects the performers to pay to play.

You're clearly an insane person with some undying love for a this organization so I'm walking away from this conversation. Enjoy your delusion.

I don't think I'm an idiot (who knows though?), and I recently attempted to buy a B&O through the Apple Store. Same price as at the B&O store, same price as on Amazon.com, same price as everywhere. From Apple it comes with extra Apple-centric accessories that aren't included from other outlets. In the US we have silly local tax ordinances. By having it delivered to the Apple Store closest to my work residence but in a different city, rather than the residence itself or the Apple Store in the same city, I saved 1% which isn't insignificant on some B&O products.

Unfortunately the "Ships to store in 24 hours" means it leaves for the store, and in my case it takes 10 days to arrive. So I canceled the order and bought it at the B&O store the next day.

Hope that answers your question and helps to reduce your apparent predilection towards generalizations/generilisations.

B&O products are simply not discounted, they are considered a high end lifestyle brand. B&W is also another high end lifestyle brand that also has audiophile products that are largely not sold through discount stores either. Same as Martin Logan.

Bose is just way overpriced.

Talk about hype. That's any Bose product in a nutshell when it comes to real, measurable performance in sound. They get clobbered by many competitors for far less money.

This is not going to hurt Apple Store sales one bit. :apple:

Also, as a business, Apple will of course push Beats. Why wouldn't they!?

You can start complaining when Apple do away with the headphone jack and fit all Beats audio with a lightening connector :p

Meh. My headphones have a more or less proprietary connection. Why couldn't Apple's?

Who cares?

It's not anti-competition or anti-consumer choice. Apple can do what they want with their own product line and in their stores. If you want Bose, buy it at a million other locations.

It would be nice if all these Bose/Beats/NFL threads had a "hide all posts of a 'Beats are trash'/'Bose are trash'/'both are trash' nature" filter.

Oh, one of these Anti-Freedom of speech, huh?

Why? Is it that you are afraid that others disagree with you?

This is part of the problem with the masses, they are afraid of hearing something that contradicts what they are manipulated into thinking.

If you want to get out of being brainwashed by Bose and Beats, you have to go elsewhere to investigate what's REALLY out there.

I had a friend of mine that bought a Bose 5.1 system for $1200 and I told him he should have gone to a stereo store that specializes in audio equipment because there are other things on the market that sound better for a similar price. He ended up bringing back his Bose 5.1 system that he spent $1200 on and bought a Yamaha receiver with some Paradigm speakers that spanked the living crap out of the Bose system for the same amount of money. It wasn't even a contest. Plus, since I know the owners of the audio store, they also managed to give my friend a discount which helped even further, but even the cheapest Paradigm speakers kicked the Bose up and down.

Feeling the Sonos Love

Bose missed the boat. They could have had the wireless audio market. They stayed complacent thinking the bose docks would last forever. Sonos came in and out performed them. AirTunes never worked 100% solid, it would cut in and out, unpredictable. Sonos has great products from easy, none audiophile to integration with audiophile gear..

At last, some love for Sonos. The Play 5 produces stunning sound for its size. The Play 1 and Play 3 aren't too shabby either. But for a really immersive sound stage, blow a huge wad of cash on a playbar and sub-woofer. Listened to that set up in a local store - the sound was incredible.

I've used, and own Bose. Good products but their AirPlay implentation, in my experience, is poor.

As for Apple no longer stocking Bose. Big deal, so what? Load of fuss about nothing.

Plenty of places dictate what "accessories" you can wear. Trying wearing a nose ring any many places of employment and see if you aren't fired. The company's reasons for you not wearing them has no affect on your rights.

Henry you're misinterpreting the Bose sponsorship. They signed to be the official headset/headphone sponsor for the NFL. They were already the official home audio sponsor. With that official sponsorship comes exclusivity. That's not a Bose thing. It's an NFL thing. It's spelled out clearly in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). There's nothing anti-competitive about it. They outbid Motorola who had the contract for 13 years.

It's funny you mention GM because they happen to be the official car and truck sponsor of the NFL. And you're also right that Beats could have bid for the sponsorship. They could have and lost for all we know. Rumor has it Bose paid 2.5 to 5x what Motorola paid for their last contract. That number could be skewed because Motorola only had sideline headsets and Bose threw in a few more million for headphones as well.

Hmm...Interesting. I guess there's money to be made from beats than Bose.

Not a bad call though. Maybe they'll increase exposure for audio brands for the same demographics Bose usually sells to. Bose is pretty much beats for adults

Then explain to me why Apple is discontinuing their relationship with Bose?
