That isn't the way the league endorsement rules work. Just like socks, hats, shirts or anything else, the league gets a crap load of money from certain companies to endorse their products and players have been fined for years for wearing or using other companies products. Kaepernick can endorse Beats all he wants - just not right before and after the games. And he really should keep quiet because if it comes out that Beats paid his fine, that is blatant violation of the NFL CBA rules and he could get in trouble for that.

I believe the CBA does not allow teams to pay player's fines (for obvious reasons), but why would it not allow a third-party?

Overpriced junk shouldn't be sold in Apple Stores regardless of what you think of Beats.

Beats are ok...but very overpriced.

You can do much much better for your dollar.

Cool, I learned something new, thanks.

Comparable windows hardware costs just as much as Apple hardware (except the insane markup on factory installed ram)

I know this is a thread about Apple removing Bose products from its stores... but the 10K fine thing AND the deal the NFL made with Bose still blows my mind.

NFL gets a non-profit organization tax break. $9Billion a year in revenue, and they go about signing endorsement deals, and fining players for wearing something during an interview? The league needs to start paying taxes.

The low end audio market has too much crap to begin with. I don't think there are too many companies that cater to the Bose and Beats price range that are any better or that much worse. Low fi is low fi.

I would like to see Apple at least maybe start carrying Sennheiser HD800's and other higher end Sennheisers, but unfortunately, Apple Stores aren't high end audio dealers and that's why they don't carry a lot of higher end audio equipment that the specialty audio stores carry.

There are other higher quality products they might consider, but they don't cater to the low end $99 headphone market with those cheap little micro boom boxes.

So if Apple EVER signs a deal that bans players from using Samsung phones and Windows mobile devices, going so far as to fine players $10,000 per occurrence, I fully expect you to support that move. To the point where you should be wondering why Microsoft and Samsung don't have their sales reps cheerfully and enthusiastically selling iPhones, iPads and Macs in their stores.

If Apple EVER signs a deal that fines its own employees $10,000 for being filmed on national TV walking into their venues (Apple Stores) using Samsung and Windows Mobile devices, I'll be right there with you, my brother.

That's how these endorsements work. Bose is more of a marketing company which is how Bose got to where they are. Marketing. They don't have high end audio products. They've always marketed the crap out of their products.

I think Bose fired the first shot, with the NFL debacle. It's unfortunate because Bose makes some decent stuff. Certainly not the best, but definitely better than the beats crap.

But they didn't fire a "first shot". They, along with any other headphone maker, should be allowed to gain NFL sponsorship. They outbid Apple for the right to display their goods, plain and simple. It wasn't a "shot" at Apple. If anything Apple should be mad at themselves for not outbidding them because they certainly have more resources to do so.

By your logic....

So I guess if Apple goes to the DOJ and asks that Samsung phones be banned from entering the country, it's not Apple to blame. It's the DOJ to blame if they enforce it. Ok.

What are you even talking about? You realize players can't wear or display any competing product before the game, during the game, or after the game. The Beats "ban" was not even told to the players because it is normal practice when the NFL has an exclusive deal like they have with Bose. You won't see players wearing Reebok clothing on the sidelines or during press conferences. This is is all legal for the NFL to do seeing as the players agreed to it.

B&O is awesome but I prefer Bowers and Wilkins. One of the industry leaders!

Their US$399 P7 is certainly worth consideration:

I like their choice of near rectangular speaker housings.

Also for US$399, the B&o H6:

Which can be daisy-chained should there ever be a need.

My overall preference is for the H6 in part because all the wiring is hidden and the support for speaker position adjustment is better integrated. I may order a pair although they would be used mostly only to avoid hearing my neighbor's weekly excursions on his riding lawn mower.

I'm fine as long as they carry better brands than Bose like B&O and Bowers. :)

It looks like all the players showing up for work today are getting new Bose headphones. I'm guessing there will be quite a few guys wearing them pregame Sunday.

Believe me, this will get around to the league and they will investigate if this happened. If it did, the league won't screw around and will take the necessary action. The next step would probably be a suspension and I don't think the Niners would take that lightly.

Meh.
It's Apples perogative to promote and sell brands that they have an interest in.

For Bose, I'm not sure it's going to be a huge issue for them, they target a professional and audiophile market, consumers are second. Just look at how much PA equipment is Bose.

Personally, I think it's a dumb idea. Bose appeals to a different market than Beats. I'm a Bose customer, not a Beats customer. That means there are both types of buyers buying Apple. Why remove a product that appeals to one group but not another?

Honestly, it probably doesn't really matter to me much in the long run, since I would probably never buy either brand in an Apple store.

I would going to say almost the exact same thing - I have Bose AE2i headphones for my travel bag (and I did buy them in an Apple store) because while they aren't the most incredible headphones ever (I like my Sennheiser HD600s a lot more at home) they do sound good and they are comfortable and not the most overpriced headphones out there. Bose has a more refined brand identity that appeals to a different consumer than Beats - though honestly they probably rank about the same to me in terms of quality and relative cost-value. Apple shouldn't get rid of Bose from their stores.

removing a popular brand from your shelves is as anti choice as it gets.

beats was already quite prominent in the apple stores but you are just speculating here on the reason.

And telling employees that they can't use their equipment of choice is equally "anti-choice". By your logic, New Orleans Saints players should not be allowed to drive anything but Mercedes-Benz, because they play their home games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, or Dallas Cowboys players can't have anything but AT&T phone plans, because they play their home games at AT&T stadium???

The NFLPA endorsed/agreed to the current CBA that contains language about FOOTBALL equipment because it has to do with the code of uniformity and safety, but says nothing about deals the NFL has made for NFL-specific Operations. And yes, I'm privy and I own Bose equipment and don't ever plan on owning anything Beats...

Bose is Suing Beats (Apple) for Stealing Noise Canceling Tech

More likely reason for this action is Bose is Suing Beats (Apple) for Blatantly Stealing their Noise Canceling Technology! something Apple probably didn't know about before they stupidly bought, IMHO, the pretty color headphone company. I'd guess the NFL ban on wearing Beats was just the final straw.

Bose makes far Better Sound (Through Research) equipment than Beats ever will, again JMHO.

The NFL in itself is non profit. Because each team in considered an independent business. All the money the nfl makes goes to the teams. And those teams do pay taxes.

I believe the CBA does not allow teams to pay player's fines (for obvious reasons), but why would it not allow a third-party?

What he received in compensation will outweigh the fine or he may have received a "bonus." Anyway, saying he's wearing it for breast cancer awareness is pretty low class when it's obviously for a pay day.
