Why do you think this drama is?
Its not because we all hate apple, its because we all Love Apple for years and years now,
they have bin selling us the best products in the world for years.... but now days
Chinese knock offs feel more reliable. When your best friend in the world is trying to sell you overpriced junk. stuff that over heats or breaks because a spec of dust came in. and you cant service the machine your self but charges you the price of almost a new machine to fix it for you.. FIX is a strong word . you stop seeing your friend as a friend and more as a sales repp after a quick buck . Nothing changes if you sit on your old @$$ and nothing ..( that not true but you get the point , enough bad reputation will change even APPLE.
While I understand and feel your pain, imvho this is what happens with fanaticism and corporate rah rah rah. Customer loyalty is thing of the past nor will I ever understand such strong love for inanimate objects.
I dont think I felt sorry for trading a Chevy for a Volvo, a Volvo for Audi and then to a Ford to Vw back to ford or PC to macbook to surface or windows phone to android. I have enjoyed them all.
I truly wish I could really understand the cult of Apple, same goes for guns. I dont understan the fascination with an object made for only killing. To me they're all just things.
I'm sending you all positive vibes, thoughts, and karma in your time of need. Peace love n chicken grease

Found this interesting too. Much more blunt, aggressive taglines. The price increases obviously don't help, but people just don't update their phones as often any more. It's getting harder and harder to sell people something which is only marginally better than what they have.
I don't remember something like this in Apple's taglines before, just a sensation

Why do you think this drama is?..
Because people haven't recognized this is 2018 not 2007. Because people who have been buying apple products for a long time, believe the board of directors should have a direct line to listen to them because they know apple best. Because Steve Jobs is no longer with the world and that has created much cognitive dissonance for those who idolized his words. Because people who have been with apple for a long time believe they know apple better than the current management. Because Tim Cook makes sure Apple is doing whatever part it needs to for humanity.

Last but not least. Because Tim Cook who has done a great job (imo) is not Steve Jobs and people dislike him for that. He has had to move the Apple needle forward in a different direction than long time customers agree with. Apple with 250 million customers will not please everybody.

Perhaps Apple should invest more aggressively on cloud services. Currently iCloud is basically a backup unit. Apple Music can't stream to Chromecast like Spotify and other music apps. Sometimes you need to be more flexible if you want commiting people to your ecosystem.
Their ecosystem is Hardware. And Apple long ago provided the ability to stream their service. The others don’t want that because that would mean will compete with them on their own platform.

Going strictly with your logic.
- OLED isn't innovation because it's been around since 1985.
- SD reader certainly isn't innovation
- IR Blaster isn't innovation
- FM radio isn't innovation
- NFC isnt innovation

So by your own definition android has had no innovation, ever.

Sure... But Apple is not innovative... Somehow people still think Apple is innovative. Truth is Apple is just selling old technologies for good amount of money and slowly adding other old technology each year for Apple fans to buy. Android people are enjoying these technology for years.

lmao, it seems that simple yes. I really wonder how it would turn out if all Apple products would cost, let's say 75% of their current price and if upgrades (more storage, ram etc.) cost 50% less.

I wonder if they'd have more money because of more sales. I like to think they would. Because if someone, because of the lower price, buys a iPhone and likes it, he might also opt for a MacBook because of the good ecosystem. So that's another 'unexpected' sale. And so more products would follow for one person. But if a person can't jump on the Apple train because of high prices, he obviously won't have the chance to buy more than one product.
I think without a doubt Apple wpuld rule the world. After buying a 2015 MBP for over $1500 and realized it did the same thing as my 1yr old satelite pro that cost $750.00 both have an i7 MBP 256ssd, TSP 512 ssd. Btw I found mac store to be barren compared to windows store as well.

Yet they fixed the software so you can use your old devices for a much longer period of time now. My iPhone X feels like it just came out of the box when it was released in 2017, performance-wise. You could argue they did this only because they got under pressure concerning batterygate, yet, they've reacted in the best way possible.

I’m still on my X because it’s not worth paying another $1300+ for XS.

If they would keep the prices around $800 I’d upgrade every year like I have been doing.
Why on this planet would you upgrade your PHONE every year? What are you doing with it to justify this? It is crazy that people even consider this. These phones should last 3-5 years, maybe with a battery change half way. you do basic websurfing and texting people. These phones have more computational power than toy story was rendered on. consumerism has gone mad.

And yet I just read a thread here at MR dated oct 31st where Apple was throttling phones again specifically the x and 8 series over batteries. Really why doesn't android have to throttle phones?

Happy enough to do business in China but conspiracy theorists are a step too far apparently..

apple is flogging a dead horse:
you would think at some point everyone would own a functional working cell phone and land lines would be dead.

Apple is a 40 year old company who would do well to concentrate on an apple original movie or two, maybe a few tv series. Maybe acquire a keyboard company

Okay, with that in mind, there has been virtually no innovation in the mobile phone sector, since the late 1980s when this entire industry started taking off. We can all point to prior art for much of the consumer goods we buy today and then place a label of "no innovation" on them.

Umm, they are more than other companies these days. Edge to Edge screen (who started the notch and everyone copied?), faceid that is more secure with that 3d camera. No one else does it that way. iPad with 120hz screen, first to do that. First to have a watch that does EKG. Enough said.

Excuse me, but have you been using a Galaxy S8 , or any other given Huawei/LG/insert a random Android phone brand device from 2017 lately? You would have your answer by doing so.

Because Tim Cook makes sure it's customers are happy and that is reflected in the valuation of the company. Whether or not you personally like the job Tim Cook is doing is for you to voice on online forums as he is steering the ship in the way he wants it to be steered.

Because they won't and the phones just die. https://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/867672-why-does-my-phone-shut-down-70-a.html

Nope, went from a MS Lumia 950xl to a lg v20 to a S9+. Skipped 2017. Ima 2-3 year upgrade type on phones and computers I hold forever as long as they work fine and aren't slow af. Btw, I've never had phones just shut off or die.

Hire me.

“Lower the price”

Done.

When they hire you, you should also hire me... I promise to do the following things:

  1. Make Apple a private company (no push from shareholders to earn more each quarter)
  2. Let Tim be a logistic manager
  3. Hire a great visionary with passion for technology
  4. Hire good designers who understand the need of design and power without sacrifice
  5. Say thank you and goodbye to Johnny Ive
  6. MacOS on ipads with touch and pencil
  7. Hire enough persons to make Siri listen properly and do more than one command at a time
  8. Focus more on marketshare to stay relevant than on profits
  9. Streamline the whole soft- and hardware
  10. Put more profits into R&D for a better future and future products
  11. Make the Mac a thrust worthy platform again as a good alternative to Windows
  12. Hire people that investigate what customers want and are missing
  13. Make Apple the brand for the rest of us
  14. Give a meaning to ‘think different’ again
  15. ...
I could probably make it to 1000 :D

What has that got to do with Apple "doing whatever part it needs to for humanity." ?

If Cook wants to do something for humanity why doesn't he speak out about the human rights abuses going on in China instead of popping over there to schmooze?

It's not going to work and can deal a fatal blow to the app ecosystem if not enough units are sold that devs start not caring. iOS is about to hit below 10% market share globally. I know some apps/services in some countries they already don't have iOS version because there's too few users to care.

Apple absolutely cares about marketshare when it comes to iOS, because there's a point at which developers will stop developing for your platform if you become irrelevant in the big picture.

Just to be clear... the term "market share" refers to the percentage of new devices sold during a particular period. In a quarter, for instance. Think of it like a report card for the smartphone industry every three months.

As for developers... there are a billion active iOS devices out in the world right now. It's a term called "Installed Base" and THAT'S who developers are making apps for.

If you must talk about market share... let's not forget that iOS has NEVER had a large amount of market share at any given time. They started at 0% a long time ago and eventually reached a high of around 20% at some point.

So statistically... developers should have never been too excited about making apps for such a small percentage of the world's new devices. Why bother... right?

Think about it. Why would a developer make an app that, at MOST, only 20% of the new devices on Earth can use?

And yet... the iOS App Store has always been a phenomenon... making TONS of money for developers. Agreed?

Conclusion: I think you're incorrectly conflating the relationship between "quarterly market share" and "developer engagement"

The truth is Apple's App Store has been a huge success no matter what their market share happens to be during a particular 3-month period.

I think what you meant to say is... if Apple's sales keep falling... there will be fewer and fewer new Apple devices being purchased... which will eventually lead to fewer Apple devices in the world. That's a valid hypothesis.

But as I've already said... developers are making apps for Apple devices even though there are 5 times as many Android devices out there.

I understand what you're saying though. But remember it took 11 years to get a billion iOS devices on Earth.

Those devices won't disappear overnight... nor will developers abandon the platform anytime soon. Those devices are still making developers plenty of money.

I can't imagine iOS becoming an "irrelevant" platform in the foreseeable future. :p

I love my XR. Got a great deal on it when I traded in my iPhone 7 with Sprint. I hated Sprint back in the day, too. The battery is fantastic. The only thing I don't like is it's missing 3D Touch (which will probably be negated by a future iOS update) and it's just a tiny bit too wide for my hands for me to swipe back and forth.

We've got human rights abuses happening right here in the US under the current administration.
