I'm calling it bogus for these last minute rumors. Next thing you're gonna tell me is that Apple is releasing a 15 inch iPad and packing it with a keyboard and a case !

Yep. Right before the 3rd gen iPad announcement rumors were it would have haptic feedback. Last year it was a blog post from someone supposedly in the know claiming Apple was working on Surface-like keyboard covers. I'm sure nu this end of the day we'll have all sorts of crazy rumors.

A logo with slightly glowing edges could be cool for notifications. I know I'm gonna catch a buttload of fire for this, but I did like that little notification dot on my Nexus 5. Knowing what was waiting for me without having to touch the phone was convenient. If the Apple logo glowed different colours or different pulse rates for various notifications, I'd be down with that.

Fire away.

D.

I also wish Apple had a little led light to notify of voice mails / texts / etc. without having to hit a button on the phone.

I like that feature of some Android phones, it's long due for Apple.

It's definitely time Apple updated their logo. It may be "iconic", but they've had the current one, in various variations, for like 30 years now. It's getting old and tired, like some of Apple's product lines.

It's pretty simple actually. If you don't want to lend any credibility to sites that don't have any credibility, don't report on their news. If no one fans their flames, their stories go nowhere and the don't get any visibility.

It seems that MacRumors, instead of focusing on the sheer volume of news they can report/link, should vet the stories better and actually produce fewer posts with more content and more validity. The site could actually go from the anything that sticks formula that has been used to a more legitimate news platform.

It couldn't be very 3D. The MacBooks are already pretty thin and only getting thinner. I don't understand the rumor though. Are they saying that the backlight would shine around the edge, making an outline of the Apple logo? That would match the thin icon design aesthetic brought by iOS 7 and later. Or would the center be laser cut deeper, and the edges would be beveled and chamfered to be shiny?

Glowing edges? You mean like this?

Why even bother posting a front page article from a " site has a sketchy history"?

Seems a bit desperate for news to me.
ru·mor - noun - a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth.

Seems to fit the "news and rumors you care about" tagline of the website.

I know I'm gonna catch a buttload of fire for this, but I did like that little notification dot on my Nexus 5..

So I just went from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy S5 to an iPhone 6. The blinking dot was the first thing that made me say "You know what? I'm gonna like Android!" But I don't miss it at all. Everything made that damn light blink. Between my S5 and my girlfriend's Note 2, the bedroom looked like a freaking rave at night. "Ooo the phone is flashing! Never mind, someone made a comment on Facebook. Didn't I set it not to do that? Doesn't matter, that light has to flash!" It drove me crazy.

"It's been far too long..."

I wonder if this is a hat-tip to the old multicolour Apple logo...

Where are the mockups on this?

/s

You know, you say that, but with all the high quality mockups and clones out there, it might be a way to distinguish between a fake and the real thing. If it's using lasers, it could be a holographic type finish that the clones can't duplicate. Much in the way paper currency does.

Of course, I mostly have no clue what I'm talking about.

Guys, don't get your panties in a twist. You are not going to get the green field and leather stiching stuff on your devices anytime soon :D

Yep. It's a bit like that glowing sleep light that used to be on all Macs. It seems like a good idea at first, but in reality it's a pain in the ass. Especially if you're trying to sleep.

While I agree with the Mac sleeping light issue, the notification light on a phone has an easy fix and one I used quite often with my Nexus 5 at night. Turn it over. A face down phone does not a nightly rave make. ;)
