Awww.

You're making me think of my old baby. Stop it, I'll get teary-eyed.

er... ...so much for "The Flat Look"....

And I heard it'll look like a REAL apple with a bite taken out of it! You know it's all good as long as they stay away from skeumorphism... oh wait...

I also wish Apple had a little led light to notify of voice mails / texts / etc. without having to hit a button on the phone.

I like that feature of some Android phones, it's long due for Apple.

You can set the camera flash led to do that in accessibility settings.

According to these anonymous sources, Apple has been developing new cutting and etching technology that will give the Apple logo a "3D-like" appearance.

*3D effect can only be viewed with separately sold 3D-glasses..

It would make sense actually. I think on Sep. 9 Tim Cook officially declared his reign is in complete control. No more Steve products. And I'm ok with that unlike most of you guys, I like what I see so far.

Because after the Watch was revealed. They completely changed the Apple.com website ui which they didn't in years! It looks like they are revamping everything! So a new Apple logo would make perfect sense.

Also a hint why the invitation says "Its been Way Too Long" because they want to revamp everything old!

It's interesting, the Apple Watch doesn't even have an Apple logo at all. I wonder if it will when it's finally released.

I guess Apple could use optical fibers inside the device to collect some light from the LED behind the screen, route it around the internal components and light up the logo at the back. That would require no additional LEDs...

The scary thing is that I wouldn't be too surprised by Apple actually going that far...

They wouldn't, because its the tackiest tasteless idea i've ever heard.

You're not alone. I love the new Apple. With the exception of some quality control hitches this year, and maybe thats because they're doing so much, I'm very impressed. The little missteps can be fixed. I love what they're doing.

the logo up to now has been clean elegant and sophisticated. There is a possibility it could get tacky. ..again.

Remember the rainbow logo? The chrome one?

..and let's not forget Ive sans Jobs was responsible for the tackiness that was IOS 7 and the clunky Watch.

So while we have have to wait and see, there is still concern they could be slowly inching toward brown Zune territory without Jobs hyper critical eye.

While I agree with the Mac sleeping light issue, the notification light on a phone has an easy fix and one I used quite often with my Nexus 5 at night. Turn it over. A face down phone does not a nightly rave make. ;)

D.
umm, the fix for the mac is simple too: just shut it down rather that put it in sleep mode. Problem solved!

This is about the physical logo, not the software logo. They're moving towards flat software.

I'm imagining some kind of faux 3D logo... like it's actually flat, but somehow gives the illusion of not being flat.

The only problem is that we've had holograms like that for decades... there's no need for Apple to invent it.

I knew you could do that for a phone call coming in, and that's nice.... but I'd like something where if I had a voice mail 20 minutes ago, there would be some signal on my phone (like a blue or red led or something) telling me to check my voice mail.

Steve Jobs discontinued this to cut costs.
Tim Cook and co are turning their back now on Jobs cost cutting measures. A shame as even with 150+ billion in the bank, Apple should still be looking for ways to save money.
