I've had leather cases. The silicone ones are better. There is no value that I can see to have leather. Love to know what it is.The irony of it all is that this environmental virtue signaling has been decidedly detrimental to the environment. Everyone that wanted a leather case just got theirs elsewhere. Those that were persuaded to try this purchased and either immediately returned or tossed in the trash, resulting in more carbon emissions and waste than if Apple had just stayed in its lane in the first place. Will Apple learn its lesson? Of course not. But wildly amusing to watch.
Anything to suggest they did?Did apple really think by stopping using leather, people were going to eat less beef? lol
Oh yes. I’m well aware of the nuts that hold these companies hostage. I’m still going to complain just the same. Amusingly, I won’t be surprised in the slightest when the successor (likely hilariously still plastic) is worse than the current FineWoven options.unfortunately when it comes to the "save the earth" and "be kind to animal" folks there is no going back. I'd imagine they will have some vegan leather alternative like lots of companies, or another alternative material.
The Finewoven products didn’t protect phones? Wow! Apple have always said their product wont look the same after use. Shame on people expecting them to.Apple should be announcing an official recall on all FineWoven products, accepting no questions asked returns and refunding all sales of the product, it was never fit for purpose. They should also be taking back all of the product and recycling all the materials. Damn shameful, Apple.
You're probably right.. they had better intentions..You can't fault Apple for trying, but the downside remains the hefty price tag for what it offers.
DisagreeAll I wish to say is that this news brings me so much joy.. The fact that it was selling in an Apple Store just didn't feel right.. and yes, it's the worst cover for a phone that ever existed. Literally nothing comes close.
Animals are a reusable resource if farmed ethically. Plastic is not.So environment be damned?
This really isn’t the flex you think it is. Yeah maybe we don’t use fire as a primary means of survival anymore like our ancestors did for thousands of years, but it still is used quite a bit in spite of our modern technological era. Fire still heats most homes today but with natural gas instead of using wood. My water heater also utilizes fire in the form of a pilot light to warm the water coming into my house.Too right. I should just go start a fire, to boil a pot of water so I can have a bath and wash my clothes. Because life and the things we use doesn’t evolve in the real world.
Those are one of Apple’s most beautiful products ever created.About as bad as those iPod nanos that got scratched effortlessly.
AFter years of using various cases and being a avid Apple leather case fan, I can say there is something about the fit and feel and slimness of an Apple original case that 3rd party cases don't offer. Somehow end up buying 5-6 cases for each iPhone but always end up sticking with a Apple original case. Currently using a Apple Silicon case for my 15 Pro MaxStill don't get it why people don't just buy a $10 cover from a third party that lasts the entire lifespan of the phone. Is the Apple logo on the back of the case that important?
Flex? 😂😂. I’ve not denied Leather is still functional. I just said things change. I'll never buy a leather iPhone case again, because I prefer the silicone. Something that wasn’t available in the middle ages. We grow up and we move on. BTW, The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that the incidence of leukemia was five times the U.S. average alongside a tannery. You may not care. But we can try and hang on to the past, or we can explore better ways of doing things. You make yours choices, I make mine, and companies, Hippie or those stuck in the 19th century can makes theirs. This really isn’t the flex you think it is. Yeah maybe we don’t use fire as a primary means of survival anymore like our ancestors did for thousands of years, but it still is used quite a bit in spite of our modern technological era. We may change the way we harness natural occurrences and materials through more automated means thereby affording us more convenience, but it’s still that same primitive technology at the heart of it all. Leather is no different. Just because it’s used these days to protect our phones rather than the working hands of a 19th-century farmer doesn’t negate its tried and true quality of long-lasting durability. The wanna be hippie tech companies can pretend leather is a thing of the past and that making products out of recycled plastic thread, or whatever tf they used for this piece of junk case, is cool and high quality but centuries of using leather would say otherwise.
I think you’ll find many leather phone cases are generally not biodegradable. Apple Leather MagSafe cases are made with leather, plastic, magnets and copper wire.Apple leather cases were the best. I had to change mine only once in three years when it got damaged from a nasty fall with my 12PM. It did protect my phone but frame of case got damaged.
I never even bothered to look at finewowen because I don’t like to pay premium price for plastic cases. Animals are still being killed for meat and skin is a leftover. I don’t think that Apple case manufacturers killed animals only to make cases. And leather is biodegradable.
Humans are animals too, Mammals same as a horse, cow, pig, cat, dog.Because cows are animals and humans are humans. There is a pecking order in every aspect of life, and this is no exception.
