About as bad as those iPod nanos that got scratched effortlessly.
Which generation? I had the second and fourth generations. No issues with scratches. I did use a case for a short time with my 4th generation Nano, but I decided to take it off. Both were Product Red.

The thing with climats friendly leather replacements is: thes need to be as durable and pleasant as leather itself. I for one have replaced my fine woven with 3rd party leather after half a year - that is probably the worst possible co2,balance of any apple product ever produced.

That would be wild for Apple standards. But writing has been on the wall since initial reviews.

The writing was on the wall shortly after they released these cases.

Exactly when was the writing was on the wall?

A) Shortly after the case release, but before the initial reviews
B) Shortly after the case release and after the initial reviews
C) Shortly before the case release, but after initial reviews
D) I don't read the comments, so I'll chose "D"

Mine still looks and feels great after regular pocket and desk use. Not sure what others are doing to theirs.
When you’re this far in the minority probably not best to accuse others of being wreckless with their cases. Maybe we’re not all type A about our products and baby them like you do. Pocket and desk use? Dude you need to get out and do something more active and you’ll see what EVERYONE else is complaining about.

SMH WTH was the defensive point of this post?

You want to know what all the current leather iPhone cases have in common (including mine)?

None of them have the Apple logo on the back. I know they hate that.

Getting rid of leather was a huge mistake. There was no reason for that what so ever other then standing on some imaginary soap box to appease the %.001.

I’ve never found a decent case for an iPhone other than the QuadLock which is useful on a bicycle. Everything else obscures the colour of the iPhone and ends up getting discoloured presumably due to heat and the case being some plastic/rubber combination.

Suggestions welcome!

Hopefully they will take a pause and fire whomever tried to "save the cows" and bring back leather cases. High-quality d-brand grade leather cases (they won't because hostile peta employees?). Not using leather, which will ALWAYS be a by-product of human beings, is the highest virtue signal, aka peak stupidity.

The best case (combo) around is a PhoneFin Wallet used in conjunction with a K Tomoto bumper. The silicon bumper feels great in the hand and grips nicely so that the phone isn’t slipping all over the place. Not sure why Apple never offered a silicon bumper. Bumpers are better.

Just start producing the leather ones again for christ sake. It's not very green to ditch (whichever way you look at it) a by-product of the meat industry. A lot of people like to eat beef, and what better way to use more of the animal than to make leather products. The more manufacturers that ditch leather, the more that will go into landfill as waste.

Now what do you replace this with when you have little time to act but want to improve on quality? Off-the-shelf vegan leather?
Fruit leather. When it gets too beat up, you can eat it!

I use a RhinoShield bumper with a MagSafe wallet (3rd party). Tried to go back to a standard case after trying this combo and it felt unwieldy.

Bumpers ARE better!

Still don't get it why people don't just buy a $10 cover from a third party that lasts the entire lifespan of the phone. Is the Apple logo on the back of the case that important?
Apple cases are usually well made--perfect fit and buttons work well--and are available at new iPhone launch. And they're easily returned or exchanged if there's a problem. I'm happy to pay for the convenience.

So bad that they stop production but apparently good enough to keep selling. Apple please be consequent and pull the trigger all together if you know the product isn‘t really good.
