Its the airpods that get the press attention, not the beats. If the airpods sell badly then its apple's vision of a 'wireless future' that is ridicluled. I am well aware that the coffers are the same, but that is not how the press works.
And also sarcasticOh right, flagship headphones. I forgot that was a thing. I remember all those times I walk in to Best Buy and say "Excuse me, where do you keep your flagship headphones?". Or when I go to Google's or Samsung's online store and I sort their headphones from flagship to non-flagship.
I'm not sure how I forgot about that. About how when a company makes an accessory, they sell a flagship version of that accessory and a non-flagship version. Like iPhone cases. The leather iPhone case is the flagship case and the rubber one is the pleb version. And Apple sells a bluetooth magic keyboard which is their flagship keyboard. But their wired keyboards are the non-flagship version of the keyboard.
Oh yeah, I remember now.

Hey look everybody, this guy is confused![]()
Well, because it's not a Mac but accessories. Tim Cook's central focus.
Actually, these are the ones people were genuinely interested in. AirPods were the ones Apple apparently wanted us to be interested in. Given that there really is no logical reason why they should be delayed (lets face it, aside from the W1 chip which is working fine in the Solo3 and PowerBeats Wireless3 sets, there's nothing new or revolutionary here) we are left with the conclusion that this has to be intentional on the part of Apple. Was he really so upset that the AirPods were poorly received that he'd push the BeatsX back just to prevent them from eating the AirPod's lunch? One would think nonsense like that wouldn't be possible, but given the way 2016 has panned out for the house of fruit thus far, can we really put it past him?Apple announces wireless headphones. Everyone says they suck and won't buy them.
Apple announces said products will be delayed. Now suddenly everyone wants them and blasts Apple for not shipping them on time.
Make up your minds, people.
Yeah.. the company that couldn't even put current gen CPUs in their flagship Pro laptop and couldn't put an updated CPU in their Pro desktop is somehow, magically, so far ahead of the game in Bluetooth? Nope. No way.
For one thing the kaby lake cpu's that are release are the ulv ones not the 7700k desktop ver and 7700hq mobile ver so those could not be put in yet the desktop chip is like early 2017 release
Because the AirPods are their flagship earphones, BeatsX are the poor man's headphonesWell, Apple still seems dedicated to the Mac. However, they are also keenly aware that there is a limit to how well Mac sales can go, and likely decided that it simply wasn't worth the resources to update it so frequently. Most people are also not replacing their Mac computers every 2 years, and Apple's update cycle will probably reflect that as well.
When you look at the new MacBook Pro, there's a lot that has changed. Apple could have simply given it an updated processor and called it a day. Instead, we got a larger trackpad, touch-ID, touchbar, better speakers, better screen, thinner and lighter redesign and thunderbolt 3, plus they bothered to partner with LG for new USB monitors. That's a fairly significant redesign, and it's clear a lot of time and resource went into updating the MacBook pro for it to just be causally dismissed as "Apple doesn't care and is just humouring us." Next year, we will hopefully get a price drop, the kaby lake processors, 32gb ram option (for the people who want them), more widespread adoption of USB-C peripherals and better support for the touchbar. And everything will be right as rain.
Why would Apple care about sales of BeatsX cannibalising the AirPods or vice versa? The money still goes into Apple's coffers at the end of the day regardless of which model you buy.

Apple personifies "fail" now, accept it.
...For the life of me I cannot understand why anyone would feel they need to hold out for the Airpods, though admittedly I have several friends who are doing so. Aren't they going to fall out/get lost almost immediately??
A bunch of overcapitalist bozo's knocking a healthy CPU business down, the best there was. That took decennia to be built. Alienating their customers, betraying their visionary company founder.I agree there are cracks. But what if these cracks are there by design? What if Apple is cognizant of the fact that if it wants to take the path it is currently on, certain sacrifices need to be made in the short run, and Apple management is fine with say, longer Mac update cycles because they think it makes sense in today's business environment?
Let's begin.
Most people won't care. 5 years is about time to upgrade your laptop anyways, and people don't miss what they don't need.
Here is some news for you things change. I asked you to tell me how all these points don't affect the user experience and all you can come up with is its my fault or i am holding it wrong? Then settle on a quality you are comfortable with upfront. Or use external storage. Again, most consumers are not going to be cracking open their laptops to tinker with the hardware inside, and so it's a non-issue for the majority of users.
That's what AppleCare is for.
Really? Is that all you can come up with?If you are going to replace the ram, storage, battery, the works, may as well get a new laptop while you are at it.
Yes I hear that a lot, lets save space at the expense of experience.Stuff like soldering parts on is likely done to save on space, in a bid to make the laptop thinner and (possibly lighter). Apple is increasingly marketing the MacBook Pro at the general consumer, who for most part are not going to bother cracking open their computers to upgrade the internals. They will likely just run it into the ground, then shop for a new computer.
You are thinking about it all wrong, its about the experience of being shafted when you go to an Apple store and they tell you its a new laptop you need when your $500 RAM goes because it also has a $1500 SSD and a $300 WIFI cardYes, I acknowledge that there exists a group of more tech-savvy users who wish to be able to modify their own computers, but they are more the exception than the norm. Apple has clearly made a decision to favour the needs of the many over the needs of the few.
Again where is the user experience today? I have no USB-C devices, I do love USB-C and will get devices, but heck, give me a single/2 USB-A port to plug in a permanent USB-A device (Backup Thumb Drive, Mouse dongle)They could, but it would have defeated the whole point - which is to push users towards USB C and help spur adoption.
I give up 5 usefull ports today for 4 useful ports tomorrow. I live in the today, not the tomorrow. Its also a strawman argument.I wrote a very long post in defence of this some time back, and don't wish to regurgitate the same points again. In a nutshell, you give up 5 different, single-purpose ports in exchange for 4 multi-purpose ports which can be used for anything.
And Apple taketh away the magsafe. One of the best inventions ever. For example, I can now charge my laptop by plugging the cable in to the right or left side. I can dock everyone to a monitor or hub and connect everything to my laptop using just one cable.
Again crap experienceIt can make for a better experience, but you must want it. I am not saying the transition will be a smooth or painless one, but that it will be worth it in the end.
Not for a long time until they added multitouch to the mouse. What's wrong with it? You can still right click with and do everything you could with a normal, 2-button mouse.
I just told you I do charge and listen at the same time. I'll give you one example, I am using Waze on my phone in the car and listening to Audio over 3.5mm AUX and because the navigation sucks battery, I need to charge it.The point is that you don't (charge and listen at the same time). And the one dongle on kickstarter that promises to do this is very likely a scam (it's way too cheap for what it promises to do).
No, perhaps in quicktime pro, but that would be a poor experience let alone having to purchase another piece of software, but having to export and spit clips would be like eating razor blades, yes it can be done but why would you want to.No comments on that either. Can't you do something like that using QuickTime?
Aperture was Apples Pro Photo management software that was a competitor to LightRoom. No comments on that, as I am not familiar with aperture and its functions.
You have a valid point there but on the face of it thats what it looks like.Apple isn't perfect, but it's not run by idiots either, and it's counterintuitive to paint the people who run Apple as such.
When all Apple gives you is lemons...I'm sure there is some kind of meme in there...There's constructive criticism, and there's the kind of rancid comments you get here.
All in all, I feel Apple is doing a very good job despite its numerous apparent missteps. By all means, criticise Apple when it's deserved. But also give Apple credit where it's due. And I find the latter sorely lacking here.
Sure, there are lots of great alternatives out there, but Apple is no doubt losing sales hand over fist because lots of people would have preferred to buy the AirPods or BeatsX instead if they were available.
When you shell out for a competing brand the odds of buying one of the aforementioned ones at a later point in time are probably small for most people. Personally I have used the reasonably priced Sony SBH-80 for a couple of years now, and I am very pleased with them - great battery capacity as well, use them every day for my commute and charge maybe twice a week.
Don't think Apple would want these coming out before their proprietary AirPods anyway. Intentional?
Your lame attempt at blind, idiotic, Apple can't do no wrong fanboyism aside, it's not unreasonable for people to expect Apple to have it's act together and actually have several wireless headphone options available when their stupid Phone is released. Considering it was half the keynote and their W1 Processor a major part of it. Yeah it takes courage to trust a company that hasn't been able to do much right in the last few years. This is just another example of really poor planning. I no longer care that they removed the headphone jack, but if they are going to do it AND promote their new "amazing" bluetooth chip, it should be timed with the phone. That's BASIC business.
Yes there is a lot that Apple has given me and they do make sexy products, but their brand sucks to me at the moment.
Huge disappointment. I really wanted to buy these before my trip home for Christmas.
I think you'd notice if they fall out no? Similarly to how you notice if a wired earpod falls out of your ear.
Secondly, there is a charging case which you can put the pods in when not in use. You may argue you may lose the pod, but you could also lose your iphone, your wallet, your keys etc.

[doublepost=1481549528][/doublepost]A long time ago there was an upcoming tech company that dazzled and wowed all of the best minds in the industry. Then they became too large and were slowly but surely surpassed by smaller and hungrier companies.
Apple's new BeatsX wireless earphones remain listed as "coming this Fall" on its website in the United States, despite just nine days remaining before the first official day of winter in the northern half of the world.![]()
Now, we have reason to believe Apple may miss this target. In an email to a customer this weekend, authorized reseller B&H Photo Video said Apple has informed them shipping will not begin for at least 2-3 months. If the timeline holds true, BeatsX shipments would not begin until around February or March. Apple could still release BeatsX earphones on its website ahead of time, before providing shipments to B&H Photo Video, but a 2-3 month gap before third-party sales begin would be unusual for an Apple product.
Apple announced the BeatsX at its iPhone 7 event in September alongside its AirPods, which were also delayed beyond their planned late October launch and have yet to become available. Apple pundit John Gruber cited manufacturing issues at scale with AirPods, so perhaps Apple is facing similar issues with BeatsX pairs.
In terms of AirPods, Gruber loosely said he has heard from at least one source who pointed to a launch in the next week or so, although Gruber is not ruling out a launch in January or later. Listen to the latest episode of The Talk Show podcast, where he and guest Glenn Fleishman discuss the topic around the 76:35 mark.
New versions of Beats Solo3 and Powerbeats3 headphones powered by Apple's new W1 chip were released in September and October respectively.
