No, it is not @ ignorant. He said "imo" which means "in my opinion." He clearly indicated that he was speaking for himself, not the world. You are simply applying it as a blanket statement made about the world and therefore projecting your own ignorance as his.

Just because someone slaps an “imo” at the end of a false statement doesn’t give them immunity from criticism.

Same. Would have been an instant buy from me if it was OLED even if it was over 1k for a base 11”

Hopefully next year!

I think it is more likely Apple is working with partners to try and go in big early on MicroLED. OLED at the size needed for an iPad Pro likely just is too expensive and has too low production yields.

Face ID is now on the iPad Pro, so you can log into the iPad, unlock apps, pay with Apple Pay, and more, all compatible in any orientation that the iPad is held.

Is this a software trick then? If so, can they retroactively enable it on iPhones as well?

Some of the liveness tests (e.g. looking at screen) are done by the camera sensor array itself, before getting to the A12. It could be that these iPads have different hardware in the sensor array that would be needed to support that.

But - here's hoping

In hindsight, although it annoys me that I will have to jump up to the 256gb iPad ... considering the price of the iPhone Xs, the price of the new iPads is par for the course. Considering the size of the screen, the multi-directional capability of faceid (thus needing to offset the R&D) etc. I can even consider it as cheap. Still think the entry-level should've been 128gb though.

You're entitled to criticize whomever you want. Just as he's entitled to think however he wants. You were just doing so based on a false premise / misperception. Just as I similarly misperceived the other person to be speaking relevantly, and stood corrected. We all misperceive things.

This is what i’ve heard as well. No OLEDs for iPads. Apple is waiting for microLED to be ready for use in future ipad pros. It’s the better technology.

You are just locked into your thinking. Trapped in your bubble. Clinging to what you know, and afraid of change. That’s all. Do you even know how many professionals have ditched their laptops in favor of iPad pros? Do you? Obviously not. Cause it’s a lot! So they are all wrong? Hmm? Just admit that you prefer a laptop and leave it at that. Cause you sound extremely ignorant, and frankly foolish pounding the table with your blanket statements saying the iPad Pro is a toy. Seriously foolish. Us professionals who use them don’t take offense to posters like you...we just find it funny. I’m trying to help you here. You sound like an old curmudgeon complaining about kids on your lawn. Lol.
Tell me what serious work you do on an iPad.

I think they're lovely but very expensive and the headphone jack removal is a deal breaker for me. Pass.

This is true. I begrudge no one of their personal choice of device. It’s all good. It’s just that it wasn’t just this poster, but a chorus of posters lately who have echoed a false & misleading belief that the iPad Pro is just a toy. It’s become a knee jerk response. It’s gone beyond mere opinion and become a generalization that I and many others feel needs to be corrected from time to time. Especially for those thinking about getting an iPad Pro instead of a laptop. In the end, I am not trying to convince anyone. Just trying to provide a counter point to all this “toy” nonsense.

So you were speaking irrelevantly. Cool.
You apparently don’t understand the meaning of the word “irrelevantly”. If people in this thread have stated, as I relate to in my thread, remarks or words to the effect; that the iPad Pro is not Pro, or a toy, or Pros don’t use it, then my post is relevant to those remarks and opinions on the iPad. (Hint, this thread is about the iPad Pro). It is not necessary to quote a particular poster in the thread to speak relevantly to the subject matter of the thread. However, in the case of your seemingly troll-like remark (that means: sow discord by posting inflammatory comments . .) about me “speaking irrelevantly” to the subject of the thread, I thought I should quote you.

Really wanted to go to 1TB, but couldn't justify the $400 price jump over the 512GB.

Love the new pencil, love Face ID, love the form factor, love the USB-C connection.

Won't miss the headphone jack (I can't remember the last time I used wired headphones).

EDIT: Oh, and the camera has "stuck out" like that since at least last year's update. My 10.5" Pro from last year (that my wife will be taking over) has the same bump... and the iPad doesn't wobble when you lay it down.

Tell me what serious work you do on an iPad.

I use it for drawing models and concepts (very often on photos) for nearly everything mobile (presenting projects, calculations, documents, 3D-files; looking at and annotating documents) and many more. I wouldn’t write whole documents on-screen, can’t make whole 3D models or professional audio/video-editing, can’t (yet) work with photoshop but there are very many use cases for pro uses where an iPad Pro has a way better workflow than other tools.

No headphone jack and no home button = no sale. I just bought the iPhone SE a month ago for the same reason I am going to buy the existing iPad Pro...ASAP!!!

Well yes some people have jobs that they can Use a tablet to do work on. I find it frustrating to do any kind of real work for what I do so I think for me at least it’s a glorified toy. If it ran Mac software it would be completely different for my use case. I treat iPads as consumption devices

Sometimes we battle with things so much, that we perceive there to be battles where there are none. But sometimes it's beneficial to truly be understanding of those we are trying to get to understand.

Now that the ipad pro finally has a flat edge (as opposed to tapered) they got rid of the headphone jack.
