This ad captures how iPhone camera dominates most important markets:

casual (street, beach, walking, Facebook oriented)
sports/active;
urban photography (because iPhone is unobtrusive, its great for urban shots),
low light/night (I assume Lumia 920 is better, but iPhone is a second best here and much more widespread).
kids and youngsters (think Instagram, most popular network among youth),
Flickr (where all photographers gather - iPhone is far biggest presence camera there http://www.flickr.com/cameras),
and where is traffic, there is market.

And in addition, a simply wonderful ad (no screams "buy now!)

Best ad in a long while. Love that some are focusing on lack of specs or unique features. That sort of narrow-minded thinking will never cease to crack me up. This is the kind of ad that resonates with most people whether they understand the tech or not.

This ad shows how tech, Apple tech, seamlessly blends into your life.

And that's Apple's ultimate calling card.

Very, very, very well done. Don Draper would be proud.

P.S. I don't disagree with those who say the VoiceOver was unnecessary. I think it would've been as good or better without it, having just a lone Apple logo popped up at the end. But I don't think it really hurts it either. It's just a great ad, plain and simple.

Shame it doesn't have a larger more richly saturated screen to enjoy those photos on ... or an SD slot so I can pop in more memory for when I do want to take more photo's!

Oh well, good job I swapped my iPhone for an S3 :)

Very emotional. Every iPhone owner could relate to this ad in one way or another. It is the sort of ads Apple should be doing.

Compared to being assaulted by the Four Seasons by Samsung in the S4 ad, this is a great piece

How can you expect Apple to release a new iPhone just 8 months after the iPhone 5?

How about because the competition are whooping their asses with better phones ... or do you think it best apple continue trying to flog a staid, boring phone for another 4 months! (although that's probably what Apple will do - hence the reason their share price is falling!)

----------

Yes, because the camera of a phone released half a year ago by the doomed and un-innovative Apple is still better than the camera of the new shiny Jesus phone from the almighty Samsung.

And you base that judgment on one lousy picture? How about I dig up some dodgy iPhone 5 images!

That aside, even if the camera is slightly better on the iPhone, it pales into insignificance when you use that beautiful Samsung screen ... and enjoy the knowledge you can keep snapping without running out of room thanks to the Samsungs Micro SD slot!

Call Samsung if you wish, but be fair in your criticism! (ex iPhone 5 user who moved to an S3 and looking forward to the 4!)

I always found iPhone cameras to be some of the best out there :) Even the 3GS camera at a time had better detail than a so called newer phone with a higher MP.

That was ****ing extraordinary! I like how 90% of outdoor scenes where during bad weather - we're fed up with "happy people sunny weather" cellphone ads. And how they tried to find the special moments in everyday life - fantastic!

Since I just regularly carry an SD card around with me incase I run out of space to store photos on my phone...

I don't want a phone as big as the S3 or S4.

I don't care about the screen on my phone that much because it's tiny compared to my iPad and professionally calibrated televisions and monitors. And knowing full well what an accurate screen is suppose to look like, I'm more than satisfied with the iPhone screen for roughing things out.

Everyone I know with an S3 has a terribly scratched up screen by the way. I figured they'd use the same Gorilla glass Apple uses, but something isn't right. They either scratch far easier, or Samsung users beat the living **** out of their phones while installing their micro SD cards.

One of The All Time Best Apple Ads Ever!

I am incredibly in love with this full one minute ad. I put it up there among the best ever if not THE BEST EVER Apple ad of all time. :)

It's a brilliant ad. But I echo the thoughts of an earlier poster - it would have been perfect with no voiceover at the end.

Not bad..

While I can see this is more and more better feature to use, we know its "just better".

But this concept doesn't stay with me.... ok, how is it better in terms of hardware. We know Apple uses multiple lenses to "achieve" better, and while its going out out perform "most low end point and shoots" its not going to replace them..... ever..

The gap is closing, yes, but will we see a day when "Only pro's use DSLR's, while the rest use iPhone." as a "complete" replacement ?

I seriously doubt this. But its a good step.

Interesting.

When someone makes mention that android is more popular than iOS, people on this site claim that just because its in the majority, doesn't mean it's the best quality.

And yet in this thread (and in the ad), there are many claims being made that the iPhone must be the best because its the most used for taking photos.

Interesting phenomenon, right? But nothing new. People tend to take thensidenodnthe argument that is in their favor. I remember all kinds of silly arguments. It all started with "but apple is only on one carrier in the states", and quickly evolved to "but apple is only selling one device". People no longer have that to fall back on.

You mean those OVER-saturated, bubblegum colors? Thanks, I pass.

If you don't have a new product to compete with the HTC One or the GS4, then run an ad on the best feature of your current product.

Beautiful. Keep this coming, Apple. The emotional aspect is one that Apple still has over anybody, and their marketing firms haven't been exploiting that enough. Remind us of why Apple = love, the soul behind the company, why Apple = magic.

I have a feeling Tim Cook has received his wakeup call and is about to get more serious than ever....

Too bad for you. I did as well and the S3 is the biggest POS with a cheap cartoon display. The only and I mean ONLY reason anyone thinks Samsung is this "godlike" phone is because they've been brainwashed by the corporate conglomerate that is Samsung, who has spent RECORD amounts of dollars to convince those like yourself that their old-tech, passe, horribly inaccurate AMOLED displays are in any way competitive.
