Tbh I laugh how every iPhone or mac news thread these days turn into a Samsung/iPhone pc/mac(but its not got a dvd drive) discussion. :p

Only thing I like with the iPhone camera is the hdr mode and panorama mode.

I would take out my dslr for something really worth photographing, iPhone is just handy if I didn't have my main camera to hand(pub).

I remember a series of like ten Apple ads where I went out and bought the music almost immediately. Lately, I can't even remember the music used. It could be a symptom of my getting older or it could be the lack of Steve Jobs' ear or it could be a complete coincidence. But at the same time, Apple seems to be losing its cachet. Related?

Worry about a company when they:
Extol the virtues of something that isn't new and isn't any better than the competition (the camera)
Don't have anything else to say ...

(Whisper it) New (post Jobs) Apple is on it's way out and that makes me sad... As a Mac/iPad/iPhone/iPod owner who has watched the decline in the last twelve months with pointless 'upgrades' such as Lightning connectors, smaller versions of what they do anyway (iPad Mini) and increasing prices for the same-it's a formula for disaster.

Hence..why I haven't bought any new Apple stuff for a long time.
I hope Im proved wrong. But I tend to see the patterns of "Kings Clothes Companies"' - and Apple MUST be the market innovators they once were within the next 12 months otherwise by this time 2015 it'll be be survival time. No more laurel resting and reworking the same old stuff...sort it out!

Cheerful sod ain't I! :D

Forget about the fact that people have been saying this as long as Apple has been in existence, I clearly remember people saying the same thing about the MacBook, the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. And if each of those people really hadn't purchased Apple stuff 'for a long time' why has their sales been increasing every year. And if you say that its because of new purchasers...then where is the doom and gloom.

One day you will be right...Apple's sales will crash. Just remember a stopped watch is still right twice a day... unless its a stopped iWatch...then you take it back to the Apple store and get taken care of :p

Shame it doesn't have a larger more richly saturated screen to enjoy those photos on ... or an SD slot so I can pop in more memory for when I do want to take more photo's!

Oh well, good job I swapped my iPhone for an S3 :)

Oh you enjoy overly saturated colors on your screens? Then enjoy your S3 I'll enjoy taking better photos on my iPhone and viewing them with more color accuracy on my smaller screen.

I like it.. But I think I'm sick of the plinky plonky-style piano jingle.

I think Apple should try doing something really edgy. Like somehow using your phone to rescue someone from a tragedy. Would be difficult in 30 seconds I know.. But the potential!

Clasic :)

removable battery, SD card, USB port, Flash etc. If you are into that kind of crap chances are you never had an iPhone and you are here just trolling (like so many S-Sheeps now days on this forum)

Good reply! I like the cut of your jib, Sir! :)

I get no pleasure from being all doom and gloom. Because I used to be proud of being a Mac adopter. Bit that was about five years ago when Apple stuff really WAS ground breaking. Now. Is just water treading. Once you've pulled away all the bunting, pinky plonk music and waffle...you're looking at exactly the same product as introduced nigh a year before.

This is NOT the work of an innovative company anymore. It's the work of..reworking...the epitome of a lazy outlook ... Looking navelwards.

Perhaps the iPhone 5 Ad should depict an ostrich plucking one out of the sand whilst looking and admiring itself in a giant mirror...

The new mission statement should be "No More iPadding- Lets Get Thinking!"

I just stopped looking forward to WWDC...highly doubting anything interesting will come if they are still creating new iPhone 5 advertisements.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great camera. But they don't commonly advertise their products this close to a new placement.

Cook already said no major new products until the fall, and this was an iPhone commercial, not necessarily an iPhone 5 commercial ( which is never mentioned).

The next iPhone going to be called the iPhone. There will also be another iPhone (even if it is the 5 for the time being) which will also take the cheaper place with another name, maybe something like iPhone light (I really don't know). Both will have 4 inch screens... The pricing will look like this:

- iPhone light 8gb $0
- iPhone light 16gb $99
- iPhone 32gb $199
- iPhone 64gb $299
- iPhone 128gb $399

Saw it here first, folks. If I'm wrong just call me an analyst. If I'm right, call me an accurate insider. :)

What's the point of this ad???

Every day, more photos are taken with the iPhone than any other camera? Why does it even matter?

I'm getting more and more worried at the future of Apple.

Yes - unfortunately you have to. Apple isn't releasing anything new any time soon and apparently they think that the iPhone 5 is capable of competing against the S4. So for the time being, it's only consequential to compare the iPhone 5 to the S4. Unless you're willing to admit that the iPhone 5 is a dated and inferior product, of course. But I'm having the feeling that you aren't :)

I really like the ad, btw.

What? Why wouldn't I? It's 6 months old. It is the definition of dated. Inferior, I would beg to differ because it is still an incredible phone (maybe in pure tech specs but as we learned with the S3, those don't mean anything on paper).

----------

Yes, because the camera of a phone released half a year ago by the doomed and un-innovative Apple is still better than the camera of the new shiny Jesus phone from the almighty Samsung.

I can't tell if you're sarcastically for me or blindy against me :D

that was about five years ago when Apple stuff really WAS ground breaking.

Five years ago, the iPod was on its last legs about to be out-innovated by Zune. People thought that the coming tablet revolution would involve styluses, Java and Flash. That netbooks would undersell and devastate Apple's notebook line, especially the new overly priced, form-over-function MacBook Air. Apple's stock price was a dizzying $249 (a bit more than half what it is now) and people were saying it wouldn't last.

Five years from now, one of us will be right. But my new MacBook Pro, the best computer I've ever owned, will be well past needing to be updated. My iPad 2 (now owned by my roommate) will probably be dead. My iPad 3 will have been upgraded at least twice. My AppleTV will probably have been superseded by something great. And hopefully, my iPhone 4s (which is getting very little use) will be replaced by something Dick-Tracy-esque. All because ten years before then, I hadn't declared Apple a tech-also-ran.

Simlpy, emotional, the best iPhone ad to date.

Samsung thinks that its enougt just to put camera on the back and make a shortcut on the screen, but its much more than that. Its about making the user apreciate its simplicity and funcionality at the same time. When the camera is part of the phone, and not just extra funcionality, the people start useing it.

As per the sd issue, that is definetively a trade off Apple decided to make over something they don't have control over.

This harkens back to the floppy-drive debate and the removable media debate on the Mac and iPad. Apple sees the Cloud as the successor of removable media. On an iPad which might not have cellular access, an SD slot might be debatable. But on a phone? I'll take the cloud over juggling a bunch of SD cards...and have you ever tried to find something buried in a stack of SD cards. I'm glad to not use floppies as well.

I think Apple should try doing something really edgy. Like somehow using your phone to rescue someone from a tragedy.

How about someone is trapped on a cliff face and makes a call from their S3 then a helicopter appears and lowers down to them an iPhone thus rescuing them from the tragedy of Samsung. Of course they eventually fall to their death as the screen fades to black with the caption... Apple. Die happy.

While I agree the point of the ad is stupid (as a user on the first page said, more work is done on a PC than any other computer), why are you getting more and more worried at Apple's future? I don't understand fanboy statements like that. They made a commercial, so you are worried?

Apple employees who read this - you know what would be even more effective and add more impact? At the end, show that the entire ad sequence was shot from an iPhone camera. Wont be as perfect as this one but would have been obvious

The Cloud is only a viable option for those with grandfathered unlimited data plans or if you always happen to be at a free hotspot area.
