If this was a real issue, this forum would have been filled with complaining.

If this was a real issue there would be millions of defective phones, just like there would be millions of bend phones if bendgate were true. I'm not sure why Apple is acknowledging a non issue.

People should stop bending their phones and stop loading so many apps. Looks like user error in both cases to me.

Oh great. Now not only do I have to wait on a manufacturing change, I have to wait on all the ones that have been delivered to get a replacement. I won't see my 6+ delivered for months.

It seems odd that it's only the 64GB 6 and the 128GB 6 Plus that uses TLC.

But saying that, my friend has a 64GB 6 and has been experiencing lots of crashes, while my 64GB plus has been fine.

I have several co-workers also having this issue. Amazingly, I have a 64G 6 and have not had issues -- very happy with my phone so far. Hopefully 8.1.1 really does address the problem.

me two! Hopefully before June will see our phones :p

Clearly the people posting here that think a firmware update is a bandage fix don't understand the realities of modern hardware development. There is quite a lot that can go wrong in hardware due to bugs in firmware. Even things that seem strictly in the hardware realm, like this. If this is a controller issue, there is large probability that it can be fixed via software.

In other words, calm down folks. Apple will address this properly and not just apply some hackish bandaid on top of broken hardware.

No problems here.

I'm just a regular Joe, not an Apple employee, and have a iPhone 6+ 128 over 50% full and have never had any problem. It's been a great phone. And if I ever do have a problem, I know Apple will replace it, no problem.

Keep in mind that even if Apple products do have occasional glitches (hey, it happens. I certainly realize how unbelievably complicated the devices are), they sure beat the alternatives out there.

Haters will hate, but I for one find joy everyday from being so instantly connected with knowledge, friends, and solutions to the everyday problems that life presents. I can't wait to see what the next 20 years bring.

No issues on my 6, with 128 gig memory. If something pops up, I'll be sure to post it. It would be nice if we were told how to reproduce it. Otherwise there will just be a lot of speculation...

So what? Just because you are expensive others being expensive doesn’t excuse a rip off.

Expensive is often a relative measure. If you get enough value from your $700 phone you could call it inexpensive by the same token.

I have a 128 GB plus. I haven't had any boot loops, maybe one crash. Is that a normal level of crashes and boot loops.

2009 iMac 128GB ssd 8 GB RAM
Late 2012 Mac mini 16 GB Ram custom fusion 1TB 128GB
Iphone 6 plus , iPad air, late 2013 rMBP

In before the countless threads about how the phones they just purchased came out of the box rebooting and bootlooping. And how Apple wouldn't replace them.
Seriously. Everyone calm down and wait ti see how Apple handles the entire issue before burning them at the stake.

No problems with crashing for my 64gb Plus, or any of my co-workers that have the Plus that I'm aware of.

Now random iOS8 rendering issues when turning from landscape to portrait is another matter...:(

When will these new phones go into production? I have a space gray 64GB 6 that I have had for 3 days and the overheating is bad; could burn you. I have to return it. I don't want one with the defective flash.

Obscene prices? Have you ever actually looked at the prices of their competition?

Have you looked at the margins on the iPhone 6 compared to the competition? Apple used to command high prices because they were known for their high quality. Now under Timmy, Apple cuts corners everywhere, builds a crap quality product, and it sells because of their former reputation. But that only lasts so long before their customers figure it out.

They charge $200 more for the upgrade to 128 gig, which certainly is obscene given the price of NAND flash these days. How much money did they save by using TLC instead of MLC? 50 cents per unit times 10 million or so top capacity models? I hope Timmy thinks an extra $5 million in profit was worth burning their customers again.

Flash

Recall? That would only occur after the accountants determine if the cost of the recall would be less than the profit margin achieved by using TLC NAND vs MLC NAND. More than likely, Apple will do in store replacements for those affected and hope the defect rate isn't that high.

Lesson: Just because it's cheap it doesn't mean it won't cost more in the long run.

Isn't Apple's notification to users and willingness to replace the affected units sort of a soft recall?

This is one of those problems that no one knows they have and experience no symptoms until someone tells them they have it. It's like telling a hypochondriac that they looked tired. Suddenly they go from feeling fine to thinking they have the flu.

No, that was last year. Now people think they have EBOLA!!! Seriously. A doctor friend of mine says it's only just beginning. Thanks 'liberal media' for that bit of hysteria.

The internet is like an auction. You have to be careful what you buy into. Comments about products doubly so.

But be sure to keep your iPhone away from theirs. You can't be too careful... ;):D:cool::rolleyes:

Apple hasn't even commented on this issue if it's even an issue. It's all been industry sources and a Korean publication.

This is much ado about nothing.

The 5S had obvious vertical scan lines on the screens.. that was never recalled. This is a more serious issue though and they may have to replace phones because of it. This will suck for those who jailbreak though lol.

'crap product,' eh?

seems to me like watching moore's law in effect would please even the youngest most demanding customers who've never experienced dumb/flip-phones. but no... that would imply reasonability and a modicum of patience and appreciation.

the free market means you're free to buy what you like.

Guess we will all be returning our phones at some point :\

Why? I haven't had any issues at all as many others haven't.

Seems to me that there are some specific circumstances that cause the issue with the phones mentioned.

Really? Not even close to being on topic.
