Tlc 64gb nand?

I see this teardown of a 5S:

http://www.techinsights.com/apple-iphone-5s/

Which shows a 64GB Hynix part. I would thin Apple would continue to use this part in the 64GB 6/+.

Apple uses NAND with just an ECC controller. I can't find a TLC part from Toshiba nor Hynix which is just an ECC flash.

Anyone know which brand NAND is used in the 128GB 6/+?

Good thing that I had realized Callgate was a much better name than Cellgate.

Wait, it's TLC. Maybe we reached Watergate, finally?

I also like that Triplegate rhimes with Applegate.

Just swap out the phone. Be thankful Apple is willing to swap out the phone. Most companies you'd just be SOL.

Be thankful? Apple has a contract with the consumer that includes a 1 year warranty, Apple is required by law to replace or fix the items. If this is a real problem, Apple will be thankful if they don't have to replace every 64/128GB iPhone 6/6+ already sold.

Anyone else having the same issues?

As far as we know, the only people reporting it (that aren't related to a single bad app) are those with huge amounts of apps installed 500+. One user had 700.

Really? I know when I was using a Mophie on my 5 they highly recommended leaving it on and letting the phone run on their battery first. Well this is good to know, this battery I have seems to turn off once the phone is at 100%.

From Mophie's own product page FAQ's:
What is the best method for charging my iPhone using the juice pack?

Assuming the iPhone and juice pack are both fully charged, we recommend waiting until your iPhone has 20% battery left. When you're in the red, flip the standby switch to green and let the juice pack to do the heavy lifting. The iPhone requires more power to charge past 80%, so if you want to get the greatest battery boost from the juice pack, we suggest flipping back to standby mode until your phone battery is low again. This isn't the end-all-be-all, but we like it.

Excuse me? Thankful? You're treading very close to "apple apologist" area there with that kind of statement.

But since you brought it up - what companies wouldn't allow you to swap out the phone if it was found defective.

One of the reasons that Apple makes it easy to return (I say ONE reason) is to avoid recalls.

So what does this mean for people who are ordering the 6 or 6 Plus through a carrier's website? Do you think the carrier would go ahead an ship out a 64 GB or 128 GB with TLC? Or are the carriers going to return their current stock of iPhone 6 & 6 Plus' back to Apple & wait for Apple to ship out the new devices with MLC?

The only one I could think of, is if it was not bought in the USA or if you try to get service in a country where the phone was not purchased. He kinda sounds like an apologist to me.

People?
Stretch the truth much.
How about ONE person reported an issue that had over 700+ apps.
I seen no abundant amount of reports of people with 500+ apps having issues.

Apple obviously believes there is an issue & replacing HW.
This means there will be a lot of 6/6+ exchanges in the upcoming months.

Read the actual referenced article. Sketchy as all hell. Reactions to that lame bit of writing are over the top here as usual.

That too. I didn't know this was affecting 64GB phones. I haven't experienced an issue with it yet.

Apple obviously believes there is an issue & replacing HW? Really? I must have missed that statement form Apple announcing this. But I guess the tech site with a poor rumor track record is all the evidence you need, right? And you need to do a little more reading. A LOT of people with large libraries were the ones reporting this.

Here's a clue: one tech site rumor does not equal fact.

If this is indeed an issue and Apple replaces your phone, it will be replaced not with a brand new, sealed, in the box phone but a REFURBISHED phone. They don't call their replacement phones refurbished but trust me, they are. I've gone through this process with the 4S. When I pay full price for a product and that product has a manufacturer defect/flaw, I expect a brand new replacement.

Do you seriously believe that Apple will simply replace your phone with another phone that is going to have the same issue?
If (that's a big if), Apple determines that the crash and boot loop issue is caused by the TLC NAND and IF your phones is one of the affected devices, Apple is going to replace it with one of the newer phones using MLC NAND. Otherwise, what is the point?

Oh wow

I don't have that many.

I didn't do a clean install though..

AppleCare wants me to do a restore which I'll do this weekend.

Love the screen (iphone 6 plus

Thanks for your comment but I'm not talking about replacing the phone now. I'm talking about if there is indeed an issue and Apple changes the phone, I would expect a new phone and not a refurbished phone.

I don't see the big deal here lol. As I'm not a fanboy of either Apple, Samsung or any other company, I do admit that Apple has THE BEST customer service. If it's a real issue and apple admits it, a trip to the Genius Bar will fix it all. My only problem is every damn time I go to a Apple Store I buy something LOL:D

Mixed in all this could be a few phones with true defects, clouding the issue. But a few reports I read said that users with lots of apps are having the issue on both 128GB and 64GB phones, though its more prevalent on 128GB phones simply because they have more room to store more apps.

But I seriously doubt that the TLC flash they use is all bad. It may not perform as well as the better MLC, but that doesn't mean TCL is defective, any more than an i5 processor is "defective" because it can't do the same things as an i7.

two words: screen. lottery.

I've had 7 different model iPhones over the years and have never returned one because of the screen: I've had 2 returns over that time - a 3GS for a cracked back shell and a 4S that was DOA but apart from that I've had no issues at all.

Either I'm very lucky or (more likely) not as sensitive to issues as some people are

I wasn't being an apologist with my statement. When I have problems I go in and exchange it. If I don't then I keep my phone. It's that simple. Really. I don't have to go through the same rigmarole when getting my device replaced with other devices because I have to buy any other companies device through a third party. That in and of itself makes returns much more of a hassle.

All I wanted was for Apple to address this legitimate issue and they are. I've already stated that it's a legitimate issue in multiple threads and that Apple needs to address it. I guess that makes me dangerously close to being apologetic.

People get what they want and they are still complaining. I don't understand the logic.

OCD can wreck havoc in returns ;)

By the way, Murphy needs to update its law, there are 300 billion stars in the galaxy and a LOT more in the entire universe
