so.. I still have my MacBook Pro 2012 retina.
the battery needs to be replaced. It’s swollen lol
Is it worth it to upgrade or replace battery? I use it for work and graphic designing. Thank you.
I think the life expectancy of the 2012 is basically Catalina, I doubt it will get any new macOS updates. If it were me I’d either replace the battery or wait. I am also still using my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro, use it primarily with design, CAD, Architecture rendering (revit with boot camp or parallels), and I am starting to look the 16” looks like it might be worth it when it drops. I had the battery replaced a while back, luckily (for me) when the supply was short and ended up being replaced for free.

I'm guessing this will be announced next Monday November 4th. To be released on Wednesday November 6th.
It may be AirTags instead though with this new MBP being announced and released the following Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th.

There's no way this is releasing in 2020. Not a chance. A 14" version will release between March and May 2020 along with a low cost iPhone SE 2, new iPad Pros, etc, but this 16" version is 100% coming out in November 2019 along with AirTags.

Guarantee it.

I don't see Apple launching a product like Air Tags without them being part of an event. They need to explain what they do, etc.. I think Air Tags will be in the March event. Hope you are right about the MacBook Pro though.

A close up reveals the new key to the left of the touch bar is only cosmetic, like previous MBP speaker holes.

I don’t think Tim needs your supply chain coaching.

First, you don’t know what you’re talking about and second, we don’t even know the facts here.

Tim Cook has demonstrated he’s the best supply chain mind in the world, period.
As others have stated APPLE has basically STOPPED STOCKPILING IN WAREHOUSES. Yes Apple does like to keep a reasonable stock coming into various market but have stopped storing them. Essentially my point is that is most likely not the case. But thanks for your input.
From post #47 Obargy said
If you have ever read the book "Tim Cook" you will know that the term "stock" doesn't exist in Apple anymore since the era of Cook. They just sell freshly assembled products out of the factory to save on warehouse costs.

i agree, would be to confusing to alot of people just to release them without any explanation, and I cant see them doing an event with just the air tags, I would say the MacBook pro 16 inch would be released on the march event also :)

I'll have you know that every poster on MR is a CEO of a multinational billion dollar conglomerate and we all have significant experience in supply chain management, as well as general company operations, detailed systems analysis, hardware architecture design, and sales strategy thank you very much.

I was personally overseeing Apple's development in my mentor role to Steve Jobs before Tim Cook was even born.

I’m not in the market for it, but I just want the damn thing to be released already lmao. About to be November 1st and we have no extra details on the Mac Pro or Pro XDR Display and no idea when this 16” MBP will launch :(
Technically we have 61 days before the new year in case Apple wants to hold off on launch due to certain limitations or events that are outside of their control. To Apple a “fall” release date could literally be the day before winter starts lol

Is there a source on this? I must have missed the article.
The Apple TV+ shows are launching tomorrow, the 1st. There's been advertising all over the place online, and in real life.

I see why you and @x-evil-x evil quoted, meant the tv shows, NOT the AppleTV console.

@CyberBob859 - yup I remember the trash can launch was in December.

Why would you wait till March to sell a state-of-the-art laptop with a prior year's chips?

Hoping to get a maxed one of these to replace my 2015 MacBook Pro. :)
Next year of course but, can't wait!!!

We will likely have information next week.

Interesting that it is being held in conjunction with Apple (at Apple campus and visitor center on Friday with a meeting with product team). Would be the perfect time to pitch the new wares to pros.
Completely forgot about this... more likely at FCP X summit than Adobe MAX. Thanks for the info.

I just realized that if they do fix the keyboard then all of us who have been holding off for eons for a laptop purchase (including me) will finally get our chance - BUT that machine will no doubt come with Catalina :-(. That hot steaming pile of OS bugs is it's own separate can of worms. Sigh.

You’re right. And even then, they can just push it back entirely to next year or scrap whatever they want Lol.

We’ll see.

because they have done it many times before over the years.... the 16 inch MacBook, apart from a slight screen increase, its going to have the escape button and power button separate, i dont see anything else being upgraded, its still going to have the T2 chip, overall its just going to be as powerful as the 2018-19 version.
