2019.... and i'm excited about getting the Esc key and a working keyboard.

This has got to be the best post on this entire topic!!!

Just hope the keys are better on this keyboard. Problem with the ultra-low-travel keys is it's hard to feel the gap between the keys -- which is why keyboards traditionally used trapezoidal keys with a pronounced 'dent'. The current MBP's keys are awful as you can't feel where the keys begin and end.

Alas I feel I'll be barking at the moon as the world only cares about shaving grams off here and there.

Need to replace my 17" MBP -- probably for something costing more than twice what I paid for the 17".

You bring up a great point.
The actual shape of the keycaps is awful on the latest keyboards also.

It's so true.
There doesn't seem to be anyone at Apple in a position of power who's truly focused on what it's like to use and interact with components like the keyboards.

I was just considering the problems of having the latest OS on the machine if it's stockpiled for any length of time, and that got me thinking - how DO they put the OS on products in the first place. Phones, iPads, Macs... is it written onto every hard drive / chip before installation? How does that part of the manufacturing process work?

Yay- another comment section about this... come on, Apple, release this thing!

It's important for us to have a new playground each day to recycle and refine our comments from yesterday..

...and the day before..

...and the day before that...

...and from last Summer..

lol

For God's sakes,

Calm yourself. This was just meant to be an example.

Second, read the reviews.

Like all of these that are currently on the market, the reviews are not generally good. That is why I haven't yet bought one of these.

The reviews were not generally bad either. Mixed, sure. And yes, there are alternatives such as....

https://www.amazon.com/Magnetic-Ada...ds=usb-c+magnetic+power&qid=1572540799&sr=8-2

Like I said. This was only an example. Apple doesn't need to always have solutions in the box that others can provide cheaper.

They need to do something about that garbage keyboard. My 2018 failed after 6 months of use, and I started to have issues with the repaired keyboard, with 2019 parts. I'm a graduate student and type a lot.

If they don't fix the keyboard, they're going to be dealing with the same replacement issues all over again. It's the only Apple product I've regretted buying.

Tomorrow we'll probably get a new "rumor" or "leak" that "confirms space grey, silver and platinum black colors for upcoming 16" MacBookPro"

October is over .. Looks like MacBook Pro Q1 - Q2 of 2020

I don't honestly know if I'm going to be sticking around that much longer at this point.
I've been waiting years now..

I don't love Windows, but at some point I may have no choice to move back to it full time.

This is so ridiculous.

I wish they'd spin off the Macs or allow macOS officially on 3rd party hardware or something. They clearly DGAF about it - open it up or do something to not choke it to death Tim.

Cheapest the 17” ever retailed for was $2299 for the Mid-2010 Core i5 dual core. So $4598? I’m sure the 16” will have a decked out config at that price, but not the base model and some choice upgrades.

so.. I still have my MacBook Pro 2012 retina.
the battery needs to be replaced. It’s swollen lol
Is it worth it to upgrade or replace battery? I use it for work and graphic designing. Thank you.

I did this in June. I ordered the 2019 mbp a week before they discounted a storage option 200$ and introduced back-to-school headphones. Instead of just re-purchase I decided to hold onto my old 2012 and redo the battery. It’s a big task but absolutely doable and it gave my laptop a little longer to live

I’m squeezing every last breath out of a 2010 MBP, and refuse to purchase one of the latest 17-18 models due to the list of issues. I’ve strongly considered just going the iPad Pro route as a replacement, but the longevity of the MacBook vs the iPad make me consider getting this 16”. I’m at an impass waiting for new stuff to release so I can make a decision. I just won’t purchase anything 2018 with new models lurking on both sides.

Besides functionality restrictions - having so much of the experience tied to iOS releases and updates would be a complete non-starter for me.

If Apple does not launch anything else this year, then 2019 will be a lackluster year in terms of hardware releases. The biggest hardware release this year so far has been the Mac Pro, which was a great upgrade some were expecting a long time. We also had the AirPods Pro, the Apple Watch Series 5, the 10.2-inch iPad, and other minor upgrades (such as re-utilizations of the 7.9-inch and the 10.5-inch displays in new iPad models). Kind of disappointing.

In 2018, in contrast, Apple released the all-new MacBook Air, two new sizes of bezel-less iPhones (the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS Max) and the 11-inch iPad Pro. It was more substantial at least.
