Fedex page still shows that mine left Memphis at 3:30am. Called regular CS, was told they won't deliver until tomorrow. Just spoke with very helpful lady at IPD who said its actually in my town ready to be delivered today. She said I'll have it by 4:30 today. Damn, I don't care, today or tomorrow, just need to plan my day...

Exactly. I'm glad I know what day I'll be getting it. At least I won't waste my time going all the way home for lunch today to check on my package knowing it's coming for sure tomorrow.

Where's the conflict? Apple set an email to every purchaser stating to ignore fedex's delivery date. They stated it 3 times that it would be here today. If people are going to freak out because they can't read then there's nothing apple can do about that.

We can read just fine. But when there is a conflict -- Apple says the 23rd but the delivery co's tracking and CSRs say 24 who do you believe? They can't both be right.

I called the FEDEX number and the rep told me that mine should be delivered today. She said that there was a maintenance problem with one of the planes leaving Indy where mine was and this has been taken care of but it did put the deliveries back a little. She told me to call back a little afternoon for an update if I had not received my package before then, but it looks like for me it will be an evening delivery. The morning trucks have left the Urbana site for delivery and mine is there.

The email said to ignore the Fedex tracking. All Fedex csrs do is look at the tracking info that is currently 5 hours behind.

I'm in NYC. I just received my iphone, notwithstanding that the FedEx page still indicates that it "departed FedEx location (Newark, NJ)" at 2am this morning. No indication of it hitting a sort facility (usually in Brooklyn for my deliveries) or being out for delivery. But, I'll take it :)

Why is everyone getting all up in arms about what the Apple email said. We know what it said, but guess what? Apple isn't FedEx. Its not like Steve Jobs is calling every single delivery driver and ensuring the iPhones will get there when the email says it does. I'm sure SOME people who got the "June 23rd" email will actually get it on June 24th.

Because you don't send an email stating that it will arrive on June 23rd, that's why. When Apple states something people tend to take it as absolute. Yes, variables factor in to the delivery date and Fedex is in control at this point but that doesn't mean people won't or can't be pissed at Apple because sending out the email may not have been the best thing for them to do.

Uh, no Mr. Ph.D. It says, and I quote (bold added for emphasis):

"Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of June 23rd to track our package to your doorstep."

So let me interpret this for you. Apple's email explicitly asks customer to use FedEx tracking this morning, not to ignore it. If you want to be helpful great. Otherwise go bother some other thread.

Called FedEx at 1800-455-4588 and was told my phone was on the truck for delivery by 5pm. Sweet! She did also say they are working on the site to get the updated statuses working.

But mine had left Sort facility this morning and was on a truck around 8-9am EDT

I'm more talking about the people who are saying stuff like "OMG can't you READ YOUR EMAIL? It says it right there!"

Well Apple said they'd have white iPhone 4s too, we all see how that went.

Yep and the system is currently 5 hours behind. What do you expect apple to do about it? The packages will arrive today no matter how many calls people make.

They shouldn't have sent it until they were absolutely sure phones would be delivered today.

The email pretty much told us to rearrange our original plans.

My phone called 10min ago..

My beautiful black 32g called a few minutes and told me to slip on
Something saucy because she would be arriving this afternoon.
She then went on to say something dirty but the call DROPPED!

I HATE YOU AT&T! You ruin everything

Try calling FedEx IPD (1800-455-4588). So much more helpful than the customer service. They told me my package in on the truck for delivery....
the customer service representatives told me I will not get it until tomorrow.

He also said that due to the high volume of system data tracking data is WAY behind.

Yea! I called the IPD department directly and they told me that the package went out on the truck at 7:50 this morning! Tracking status is still showing "At dest sort facility."

Painless!

- Steve

Just got mine, but I'm having no luick activating it -- keep geting message that my sim is invalid.

EDIT: APPLE SUPPORT NOW TELLING ME THAT I CAN'T ACTIVATE UNTIL TOMORROW. WTF?

OMG YES! I just did this, same response. Man that CSR I got before was pretty clueless, but the IPD guy seemed extremely professional and confident.

Beautiful!! Thanks for the number.

Website is showing one phone at local facility and one phone in Indianapolis, FedEx rep just told me that both are on the delivery truck and will be delivered today.

FedEx website is way off right now...

Now I feel bad for the IPD customer service reps. Their job is now essentially looking up tracking numbers and reading back tracking information because the website isn't working.

Their call volume has to be through the roof compared to a normal day.

Now that's odd. The SIM should be valid in at&t's system by this point. And the people who got it yesterday activated just fine.
