The impatient ones will be disappointed as usual. The patient ones will maybe order one 5 months from now once the hoopla is over. Yawn.

Were you constantly reloading and killing the apple store app or just closing and reopening it? I opened/killed for about 15-18 minutes, then once in I got an error maybe half a dozen times but kept trying until it went through, never exited the app once I got in. By that time, delivery was 11/17, but to the store was 11/3, so I was psyched.
Yeah I was force quitting it every 15 seconds or so, lol. Maybe it was a coincidence as I got through after rebooting around the same time you did. I didn't even think to check store delivery because I already had my mind set on doing that new box swap thing because I live nearly equal distance, about two hours from Apple Stores in two opposite directions. Maybe I should have driven like the last two years, but I was really on board with the convenience of doing it this way and was scared if I spent extra time messing around the delivery date would get pushed back even more or worse, the app would have more errors and I wouldn't be able to get it through at all. It was a snap decision, but I'll likely be getting it closer to the 17th if I just slipped into that window and that's not awful. I just hope it doesn't come right before Thanksgiving because we're hosting the family. I also imagine a fair amount people will be cancelling orders. I saw a lot of people on Twitter and on the forums last night who were ordering from multiple places to secure one and said they're going to cancel duplicates, so hopefully I'm around Friday the 17th or maybe even the 15th but maybe that's just wishful thinking, lol.

Stretching keeps one out of debt, might want to try it sometime. The Devil is in the details in All financial decisions.
Apple is counting on many to take advantage (or to be taken for lol) of these payment plans. Undoubtedly many sees the monthly payment and think oh what's another $10/mo here and there let's do it. This is how they can afford to keep raising prices and still sell them by the millions. I positively hate these installment plans, but have to admit I'm guilty because many deals now involve convoluted monthly credits. My iP7 has 11 more payments to go, for a combined total of $200 off the phone which could only be had doing the installment plan. I can't even pay it off early, as I'll lose out on the remaining monthly credits.

$999 or $1149 is insane for a phone, as is paying $50/mo for one. And I'll come back and eat these words if I end up buying one :p although I don't foresee any deals will be given on it by the carriers.

I was. Woke this morning and it was sent about 3:45 a.m. MST. Followed the basic instructions, it’s already approved and set for Nov. 3 delivery. #lucky

Same here. I was up at the right time but had the infamous message that Apple couldn't connect with Verizon and was given a reservation. I've been waiting for the Apple email all day to complete the order. As promised, I just received the email, completed the purchase, and I will receive the X in 2 - 3 weeks. There could've been better communication for sure, but I'm happy now and looking forward to receiving the new phone. Thanks to all on this forum for sharing your experiences and keeping me informed.

I wonder what the price is where they would actually have trouble selling phones?
I personally think they could price something like the X at $5000 each and they would still sell all the ones they want to.

My experience doesn't jibe with that chart.

I wasn't able to get into Apple's website store and start ordering until 3:04 Eastern and my order of an AT&T 256GB Space Grey was finally completed at 3:08 Eastern (website was slow trying to check the AT&T part.) I got 2 week delivery of the 17-24th (which is more like 3 weeks.) Got a confirmation email from Apple of it all at 3:10 Eastern.

That doesn't jibe with the chart saying it didn't slip to 2-3 weeks until 3:17 Eastern.

Going to cry in my cheerios now, congrats to all that got delivery on the 3rd.

Installment plan pricing has made many people not think about that. Roll it into your cell bill and you don’t see the cost. Trade in and trade up programs mean that costlier phones keep people buying and that while plans have gone down slightly, carriers make money on hardware. Remember that the carriers get a wholesale price so while it is interest free financing of the device, the phone is still making them money. And on a monthly basis.

Partially true, but when you see the monthly payment of $54 it's a big huge OUCH!! Let's say you have 2 phones on your T-Mobile, $120 a month. Now add another $108 a month to that.. Damn that's a lot to stay connected in today's day and age. We went ahead with the Tmobile deal, get $300 for our existing iphone, pay $549 down with Tax, and get the 256 gig for just $17.50 a month. Much more doable.. Just depends on if you have the cash to plop. I'll definitely be thinking twice the next time the new iphone comes out.

And you know they're constraining supply how?

He/she doesn't. It's the same thing every year. You get armchair CEOs on Macrumors who have zero business or manufacturing experience sit there and claim that Apple is pulling a marketing stunt by artificially limiting supply. No company in their right mind would artificially limit supply if they know demand is there. Apple is a nearly $1 trillion company. They don't need to artificially do sh*t...

Bit fed up to be honest - wanted to join the Apple Upgrade Programme in the UK and within around 15 seconds of being able to get in the programme had switched to taking no more orders until November 4th!

The problem is people are comparing the monthly cost of the iPhone X to things like how much a cup of coffee costs per day. The proper comparison is to other smartphones like iPhone 8 or Samsung s8. You can't surf the internet with a cup of coffee.

Don't believe they could sell many at 5K for a second. The currently sell for about 1350 which is the 256gb upgrade program which comes with the warranty. So they could definitely go higher, but as they approach 2000, the numbers would drop significantly. Over that would fall drastically just like with the Apple Watch Edition which they discontinued. At least those were made of materials that were physically valuable. To sell premium version they would have to have it made of something with value in itself. I could see them someday selling a ceramic edition for a top tier and that they could certainly sell for 2K+, 3K+ etc.

Rule of thumb is never buy a first gen apple product.

I'll wait for iPhone XS
Good thing then this is a 8th generation product =).

How about a more accurate headline... "As expected, manufacturing delays led to early sell outs of new iPhone X".
I've got an even better headline:

"Consumer electronic company sells electronics.....to consumers."

It's 100% true after all....

Lol....that's what happens when you have a short supply.
THEY NEED TO FIX THIS! Apparently my reservation doesn’t exist anymore

Considering less than 100 comments after 12 hours from pre-order time period. Yeah that was successful knowing that some comments still not convinced how successful it is. From previous years being here at Macrumors I see flooded with hundreds of comments for every news of pre-order and after ordering. People brags how they get their orders went through despite millions of others doing the same thing. Yesterday, only less than 50 people made comments and more than half of them stated they are not interested on iPhone X. So yeah believe whatever you want but the number in this site is not lying. Unless those people has left this site and no longer interested of anything Apple. But just couple months ago when rumors about this phone, there are literally hundreds of comments. So where is everybody then?
The site went down. That’s why. I was trying to post but couldn’t.
