Those pointing at APPL stock price price increase might just want to check out Amazons 13% jump today having smashed their Q3 results. Alphabet, Twitter, Snap and Facebook to name a few have all gone up similarly to Apple, no doubt in part as a result of this and Twitters recent improved news increasing confidence in tech companies.

Delayed shipping times and a meaningless puff piece from Apples marketing department that was probably written weeks ago do not normally excite shareholders.

Sold out about as quickly as we expected. 5-10 mins.

And coupled with many of us not getting in the iPhone app where we had preapproved early in week for at least 10 15 minutes we were already out of luck for November 3. I am November 17-24 for it arriving now. Not terrible but I wont't get to play next week ;-)

For only having 2-3 million available for Nov 3. Did they expect it to not be sold out when it went on sale to multiple countries. I think there were what 80 so countries available to pre-order. They knew they were going to have supply issues. They should have only made available to 20/25 top countries with the rest to follow in December or January. I mean why even bother. Pre-orders went live and within mins the highest gb model was sold out. Now you have delivery dates into freaking December. Apple really screwed this iphone up. What they should have done is done pre-orders along with the 8/8plus. Then made it delivery October 27. This way they could get a jump on their production for the holiday. Just saying

Ditto - a subscription service would be ideal in this situation. At least for big fans that truly want a new iPhone on launch day every year.
Yes I would love that but at least I am getting it a couple weeks after for the delivery time frame not terrible but had hoped being a IUP customer with the second upgrade we might have had a bit more chance with crappy overloaded servers ;-)

I'm going sit back and see how it does before 2018. It'll be interesting to see if the naysayers/analysts/doom-mongers are correct in predicting low quantities and shoddy quality.

I suspect that this won't be the case, Apple have a lot riding on this phone. It has to be perfect.

The level of cuckoo in this thread is pretty astounding! Right up there with all the tantrum throwing "adults" who didn't get launch day confirms.

Relax, folks; breathe. It's not the end of the world and Apple is not out to get you.

Lol, I was hoping for a launch day iPhone X, however it is now expected to be delivered around 21 Nov. With the weeks passing-by quickly it really does not matter to me to wait just a bit longer. I did want to play with the phone before the holiday season as I lover pushing the limits of photography with an iPhone (personal choice).

So to sum it up, not disappointed, though would have been icing on the cake if I received one on Nov 3. :D

Oh f*ck off Apple with your inane statements. You never post numbers so nobody ever actually knows how many you've sold. It's very easy to sell out of something you have f*ck all of in the first place.

This drivel is one of the many reasons I've left the ecosystem, it's become a company that is pretentious beyond words.

Come on Essential phone, up your game, you look and feel like the Apple I used to love

If I stock only 5 breads every morning in the bakery, me saying the sales are off the charts is pretty stupid. They can't think we're this stupid.

This is the first time since 2007 that I will not have my new iPhone available for pickup or arrive at my front door on launch day.

Because Apple didn't cater to one person of the millions of iPhones they will sell and you won't have it on your porch on launch day. Please explain how that would be anything consequential to Apple or your delivery experience. Some as yourself don't fathom the magnitude of how large an iPhone distribution is when They deliver millions of units across the world.

No, you didn't. You posted speculated articles that have no evidence contrary to what you believe, because there is no indication of what Apple has for launch day devices in store. It's just your narrative doesn't agree with Apples, nor indicative of what somebody could possibly know a week from today. Again, speculation.

False. You quoted my post that I replied to from another forum member in Post 91. Please re-read the posts before assuming.
You are on a roll. I was wrong twice and you caught me. Good for you.

Beta testers will make my iPhone X better.

Welcome to the world of technology, there is always going to be some new technology or feature improved in the upcoming iOS product. If you are worried about being a beta tester, guess what even with the perceived refined “S” models there is always going to be some issue either minor or major. One would be waiting forever hoping for the bugs to be ironed out.

I usually upgrade every year to every 18 months, and have not come across any major issues other than the constant battery drain issues with EVERY generation. Am I complaining, nope. I enjoy technology and love to use and learn about the new features and how it will benefit my day-to-day workflow. :)

Keep waiting for that perfect tech or iPhone, as with software there are always some bugs that pass through the cracks, this is technology :)

Supply should stabilize quicker than all the FUD implies.

"Although 3D sensing assembly continues to face some yield issues, we believe LG Innotek can supply 4-5M units per month in October, higher than iPhone X production needs."

Also see lead time analysis:

". . . lead times look encouraging from a demand perspective. If ordered now, iPhone X ships in 5-6 weeks. We checked lead times for US, UK, Germany, UK, China, Japan and UAE, and interestingly the 5-6 week lead time is consistent across carriers, colors, memory size and geographies. This could mean that the 5-6 weeks number is conservative and users would likely receive it before that timeline . . . The lead times are higher than the previous three iPhone generations (7/6s/6) and lifts any demand concerns given the high price point. We do think this should ease the pressure supply chain stocks and AAPL (to a lesser extent) have witnessed recently on news reports that iPhone 8 sales have been soft."

This is exactly what happened for me!

I opened the iOS app, and kept informing me that the site was down. Same with the website on Safari. After about 25-30 mins, it finally allowed me in on the app and website. I placed my orders, received the email and it reported a shipping date of 21 Nov. Would I have preferred a launch day iPhone X, sure. Am I having sleepless night, nope. Will the weeks fly till I receive my shipment, you better believer it. :)

In store pickup for a 256GB in Space Grey X scheduled for 8:30am on November 3rd. Guess I got lucky o_O

I got in at 12:06 and got in store pickup for the 3rd. Tmobile 256 space grey, had the option for nov 3 delivery but chose in store pickup

I chose in store pickup too, shipping had already slipped to 2-3 weeks but I was able to pick up in store at a scheduled time. Does this mean we are reserved/guaranteed a phone? Does this mean we can slip in and out of the store quickly? I have a time set for 12:30-1:00, we are leaving town that day and need to leave as soon as possible.

Yes, of course. Apple has no interest in making and recording sales as quickly as possible. And if some potential sales go to Samsung and google, it's all good.
Disagree. If someone was looking at the X and couldn't get it and they couldn't wait the delay out, I believe a customer looking at iPhones would pick up an 8, not abandon the platform.

Except that Apple usually breaks sales records year after year too so it's not really spin. People are actually buying the phones. Apple has the revenue reports to prove it.

I ordered the X. It's 100% not worth the $1200 I paid, but the $700 I paid for the 7 wasn't worth it either. I'll enjoy the X's bigger screen and better camera though. If one is looking for value then there is always the $99 Amazon Moto e4.

No disrespect here: I know folks are buying the phones and thus breaking sales records due to the higher price point, the spin I was referring to was making a negative into a positive insofar as marketing.

The only unfortunate about breaking this sales record this is year is that it proves that people will pay $1000 and more for an iPhone (before taxes, AC+ etc.)

Politely: For me, value comes in how much use and enjoyment one gets from the product they purchase (along with customer service etc.) My Moto Z droid is a piece of poop and was a complete waste of $500.

I do not feel any Apple product I bought this year was worth the $ (not in cost, and certainly not in my usage and enjoyment.) I hope that will change when it comes time to update this iMac. This year was a great lesson for me as far as Apple; what I need and what I think I want are two different things. Going forward, my Apple purchases will be based on needs first.

Enjoy your X. :) :apple::)

Exactly. I'm waiting until the earnings call next Thursday to see what Apple says. If iPhone X preorders were stupendous you'll hear them talk about it in their future guidance in more concrete terms. Do they expect it to contribute significantly to an increase in revenue and/or profit?

They will give their expectations of $XX billion in revenue, XX% gross margin, and $X.XX in earnings per share for the upcoming December 31 quarter. 12/31/15 revenue was $75.9 billion and 12/31/16 revenue was $78.4 billion. Unless shipping times have stretched into January or February by the end of next week (which would indicate the potential for continued production constraints) I would expect an "off the charts" launch of the iPhone X combined with the iPhone 8 to push expected revenue real close to $90 billion. Any guidance under that will be troubling.

The iPhone 8 is just the iPhone 6 again with a better chip inside. No one was buying it,

No one was saying that last year when the 7 came out, it was the best thing since sliced bread then... I don’t care about it having the same design, it works for me. Yes, I bought the iPhone 8. £1000 for a phone is insane, and everyone who bought one is telling Apple that that price point is okay. Expect prices to rise and rise.

People were saying that last year. The 4s people needed an upgrade and the 7 was a natural fit.
