Finally, a porn app. Thank you apple for following EU rules. Won't change my porn watching habits on apple devices, but thanks anyway. Btw., the iPhone is probably the #1 porn cam nowadays, so hooray to that as well.

What would really make apple devices safer for kids, though, would be having multiple user accounts on ipads.

Exactly. I actually met Steve Jobs when I worked for Apple. He was an arsehole - a lovable arsehole, but an arsehole all the same.
Raise your hand if you have ever met a perfect person, Tim Apple doesn't count.

adults should be allowed to enjoy what they want. It’s like saying driving a car is bad because a toddler might accidentally get locked inside a car by themselves.

Locking a toddler in a car is probably negligible (or just a flat out red herring) when considering which of these significantly contributes toward human trafficking.

If they weren't so busy trying gouge every third party on the platform they wouldn't find themselves in these moral quandaries.

And they aren't—they disapproved of it before, they still do, and they just wanted to say so. I feel certain if the store hadn't done their campaign pretending Apple approved of their app, this statement would not have occurred.

This debate is irrelevant. You don’t need an app to access porn on your iPhone when you can use Safari.
An app is customizable, more energy-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing. Using a browser gives the 2005 vibes.

Amsterdam Red Light District APP store adults only.
Password protection for prying eyes for choice.
Hidden apps is just a start for privacy.

Age verification is being worked on websites so surely they can come up with something to make all happy.
Governments already have our numbers soooo....

Apple should focus their efforts on making the AppStore better so users don’t need or want to use an alternative. Get rid of all the scam apps and apps that are never updated.

A common sense approach would be to require each Apple ID to provide a passport or some sort of ID to prove they are 18+ thus authorise their account for explicit content. That way it could cover movies, music and gambling also
Precisely. I want to stick my middle finger up at Apple. If I want to look at adult stuff, as an adult I should be allowed to do so. I'm not saying that all adults immediately do this, however if they want to it's their business.

Most professional websites automatically detect and optimise themselves for mobile devices so they look just as good as an app.

“we certainly do not approve of this app”.

You do not approve of this app.
But you do and did approve this app.

👉 Because you force every developer into seeking your approval (for their apps).
As a developer, I have no problem with that. It's their App Store and their tools. They get to choose what to allow on it. If developers don't like it, they can stop developing for Apple's platforms.

The only thing Apple is concerned about here is its profits, not its users, not children. Just profits, nothing more, nothing less.
Any actual evidence that they care nothing of their users or of children? Pretty bold and almost certainly false statement. Don’t you think many people at Apple have children? Plus if your statement was true, wouldn’t Apple allow porn just like all other platforms since porn brings in so much money of which they could take a cut? Heck if they only care about money, why not venture into the $gazillion porn industry themselves? Think of how much subscription money they’d bring in if Apple TV+ was half porn.

If you mean that all companies do not care about anything but profit, that’s an erroneous statement too. Companies don’t care about anything. Caring is a human trait. Companies are machines. Saying that companies only care about profit is like saying a car only cares about driving. It does not, but that’s what it was built to do. But there are people behind the wheel who decide how to steer it.

Isn't that a little bit child like? It's like the kid with the bat and ball storming off with the ***** when they're not the best at whatever sport they choose to play in.

Faced with a duopolists of distributors for mobile apps, networks effect and platform economies, developers should not have to make that choice on a take-it-or-leave-it basis of no competition.

When they want to market to a large segment of the population (iOS users), they should not be forced to deal through a monopolist.

Particularly not when that monopolist has begun competing with (many) of the with its own products and services (gaming and streaming subscriptions).

👉 Monopolies have downsides consumers - and business that rely on them for distribution.

Your willingness or choice to accept, embrace or submit to such monopolies (for that market) has been rejected by European legislators and regulators (where they have a say in Europe).

Exactly. The company (in the case Apple) doesn't really care. Apple employees are human and have kids and don't want their children to see adult material. The adults however should get a choice what they consume.

Would you be happy if Ford or GM mandated that you only service and repair your car at one of their own garages?
