Hopefully they've fixed the beach ball effect with Safari. The majority of the time, when I close Safari, I get the beach ball!! Very annoying.

Your issues are not ubiquitous to Safari users. I suggest you delete safari .plist files, or rebuild. Empty caches and turn off extensions. A Safari fresh install works perfectly.

I am a beta user and when trying to install the PB 5 it downloads, restarts, and then tells me 'Can not verify the update' and stops the update. I have re-downloaded and tried again with the same result. The first 4 PBs worked fine.

Any ideas or anyone else having this problem?

It's working for me. More than once I've had to restart my Airport Extreme to be able to make calls from my Mac. The other aspects of HandOff always seemed to work. I'm on latest iOS 9 PB.

Interestingly, making calls from my Mac works absolutely fine. And AirDrop works in both directions. It's just the application handoff bit that's not working.

Never mind -- let's see what the CAT guys come out with between now and 10.11's release.

EDIT:

Just looked through the Console logs and found:

19/08/2015 23:51:46.400 sharingd[284]: 23:51:46.399 : Device Capabilities (Handoff:YES, Instant Hotspot:YES, AirDrop:YES, Legacy AirDrop:YES, Remote Disc:NO)

... so something's working at some level. Also saw this, which made me chuckle:

19/08/2015 23:51:44.646 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.sharingd) This service is defined to be constantly running and is inherently inefficient.

:)

i can understand split view on a tablet due to natural of apps are full screen only, but i can't see this on a desktop where all u gotta do is work in a window....

do users really want to keep an app in full screen always on a desktop at the same time as using another full screen app?
Some people do. Some people don't.

An example are my children, who (to my madness) run everything full screen...

Why are people still complaining about the green maximize button?

Want a great window organization utility? Download BetterTouchTool and activate window snapping (like in Windows 7). It's fantastic. Also BTT works for reprogramming any mouse/trackpad/tablet to do whatever you want with gestures, so it's very useful.

Whoever thought that was the proper direction needs to be fired.

It was done because the vast majority of OS X expected the maximise button to behave like a full screen as it does in Windows hence it was changed to accommodate new comers to OS X as well as existing users who were fed up with the inconsistent behaviour of maximisation. Personally I think the whole idea of maximising and going full screen doesn't make any sense - technology has advanced to the stage where we can have multiple applications running at once and the ability to drag and drop between windows or to multi-task using the Dock and it amazes me how people want to go back 20 years because of some mythical, "I'm more productive!" when in reality it was simply bad habits picked up then re-enforced by Windows and people around them believing 'this is the way things are done'.

When everyone hits the servers at the same time, it doesn't matter how many resources they have, it will be slow.

We're not talking about just the developers but the public beta as well.

Some people just don't get that. Sometimes, it's better to wait a day or two, despite the temptation.

Hi everyone,

Is it a Delta update, or finally a full installer?

Best!
The full installer now gets you to build 15a263e without any interim updates. I assume the large size of this update is so that it'll update any interim build of the beta too.

Double clicking the title bar will maximize without the need for Alt key as well.

Not when you set it to minimize the window to the dock! (System Prefs, Dock, Double-click a window's title bar to minimize.)

You gotta make a choice! Personally, I never use the maximize button or fullscreen.

Loving the update, however it still hasn't resolved an issue for me that I noticed within the recovery partition, starting with the prior PB. I've only been able to see it while on Disk Utility in the Recovery Partition...is anyone else seeing under their OS X volume, multiple mounted "untitled" volumes with eject buttons next to them?

It amazes me that some people are so shortsighted and think that everyone has the same workflow :p You are right of course that Windows users often have this awful habit of working with maximised for no reason windows, and this hampers productivity. This is why OS X has no maximise feature. Fullscreen is not maximise, fullscreen is for focusing on a single app. There are tons of workflows that benefit from that. For example, when I am writing a paper, I have TextMate fullscreen in one space and Preview fullscreen in another one. This allows me to write comfortably, using the entire screen real estate (it really makes a difference) and if I want to look at the PDF of my paper, I can quickly switch to Preview. I also go fullscreen in Mail when I am doing my emails review (I get on average 100-120 per day), because it allows me to see more.

I am going to try to restart in safe mode and install that way to see if it rectifies the problem. Will let you know what happens when I download the update for the third time...

Thank you. I´ve tried to install the update second time with no success.
