I actually don't mind this feature.

Yeah i dont mind it either. Coming from a 6S with the worst battery in the world, i used to toggle **** completely off all the time to save battery.
I like how it just disconnects but stays on for next time

Yes, its hilarious. People are actually defending and coming up with explanations here such as control center isn't used that way etc...
[doublepost=1511902579][/doublepost]

Im not worried, i just want to be able to quickly turn things off like i have for several years now. There is absolutely nothing gained for most users, just loss.

Then again, I am still on 10.3.3 and wont upgrade for a year likely anyway.

I am one of those who have never been happy with turning WiFi and Bluetooth off completely, so I actually like the change Apple has made here.

Dude, this feature isn't going anywhere. Let it go.

Let it go you say? Geez nice attitude you have there buddy. There's actually thousands of people irritated at this solution. Not because we don't want the people that forget to turn wifi/bluetooth back on to be able to press the button accidentally and then know it's gonna not be completely off (whoever asked for this feature? which you're so quick to "give up" on?

To ask other people to "let it go" because you don't have the stamina or whatever, to pursue a correction of this flawed new "feature" and to disrespect thousands of other people, who actually CARE about something like having wifi, bluetooth, 4g turned on or off at their convenience. Well, I can only shake my head at people like you.

Give us your opinions on why on earth you would disrespect the opinions and needs and wants of thousands of people by just "letting go" of key features that most users have come to expect?

It's like if they took away the camera icon cause they wanted you to go to the springboard some more and press apps....wouldn't you be like "give me my god damned camera icon back on the lock screen"

or if from the next update, you're not actually going in to the mail app when hitting a notification in the lock screen - you're taken to disneyworld.com because that's the new partner of apple and we should just "let it go" that we wanted to go into our mail app and read the damn mail immediately like we asked for when hitting the notification on the lock screen.....

Why not just hit the airplane mode button and then turn back on whatever you need. Very simple solution and only one extra button push over the old way.

It wasn't really lag or performance issue, but basically an animation interaction bug, and it was already fixed in the first 11.2 beta.

I just downloaded the current beta and yep it's fixed. I wouldn't say it was just an animation problem...well it was in that the animation of the orange buttons played too long so when I went to calculate things quickly, it wouldn't compute, it would just press multiple numbers... ie. 1+2+34+5+6+78+9

Now I can delete this other calculator app :)

Nope. Did you guys even try this before typing it out??? Wifi on - airplane mode - wifi back on.......wifi disconnected "till tomorro...lol what a joke" airplane mode - wifi disconnected "till tomorrow" etc...
[doublepost=1511920321][/doublepost]From what i know, Apple is doing this to keep wifi and bluetooth open so "they" can track you. Don't want your phone to not be locating your location and activities now do we?!

"In Control Center on all devices, there are two new informational pop-ups that are displayed when using the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth toggles. These pop-ups explain that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are disabled temporarily rather than permanently when accessed from Control Center."

This is still a really dumb UI element. The fact that you need a popup explanation to explain that "off" does't really mean "off" should be a clue that this is completely non-intuitive. It makes no sense I have to go all the way into settings to turn on and off bluetooth and wifi; that was the whole point of putting it in a quick control center access. The UI for all intents and purposes is lying. At least then add a real "on/off" quick control panel button then if this isn't it!
Can you shed light on why you would want to permantly turn them off? Unless you never want to use them again then going into settings once doesn’t seem like that big of an undertaking, but if temperarly disabling them provides the same essential function why is his a big deal? *this isn’t sarcasm*

Yes, it has been tried and works as usual when Airplane mode is used (the only new thing there is that it will remember the last state that you had from the last time you used Airplane mode).

As for the reason why things have been changed so that the Control Center settings disconnect rather than turn off now, well, there's what you think is the reason (a conspiracy of some sort), and then there's the quite a bit simpler (although certainly less exciting) more likely reality: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208086

Was about to link that but you beat me to it. Article explains clearly why it works the way it works.

I tried and it works just as expected:

47 MB on my X. All battery jokes aside, I'm almost afraid to upgrade because beta 4 has been pretty damn solid for me, and I have been getting well more than a full day of heavy use out of the battery, which is easily the best I have ever gotten from an iPhone.

Same with my 5s. I 'm skeptical if it will get better than this. I hope they don't spoil this smooth experience, it happens more often with IOS

I had mentioned it in a follow up reply as an aside I've never had bluetooth "re-connect" after clicking the "disconnect to connect" sequence in control panel successfully. I've always had to force a reconnect through settings. Apparently they've also added some weird timeout if it doesn't connect successfully (both bluetooth and wifi) after a few iterations it gives up and never does it again automatically. So a quick function to disconnect bluetooth (nor wifi for that matter) has never been helpful to me than a full and quick access to off and on function for both devices.

Primarily the reason to quickly turn Bluetooth off is for power conservation or that I don't want it to actively hunt for bluetooth devices. I typically as soon as getting out of the car or enter the airport turn it off quickly as I'm very unlikely to use Bluetooth during a day's travels in an airplane and rather conserve battery life all day. Otherwise its on hunting or searching for airdrop contacts, trying to connect for iOS continuity features, etc even when "disconnected".

I want to re-iterate that I'm not totally against the "disable" feature, but given that the control panel is supposed to be customizable, at least give a pane option (for those of us who have relied on that feature since 2013) that does turn off fully and turn on fully those devices (WiFi and Bluetooth) in control panel for fast access. It also gives the piece of mind that "off" means "off" and I won't find out later that someone has figured out a security vulnerability in the future for on disabled bluetooth and wifi.

With respect, I could also use your argument to say if "off" effectively does the "disconnect" and turning "on" from "off" actually forces a re-search action and initiates a re-connect why is it a big deal not leaving it the way it was for years as "on/off".

Dude, this feature isn't going anywhere. Let it go.

Except this feature kills your battery even faster than the iOS 11 itself does, since in order to turn off WiFi or Bluetooth you now cannot turn it off (completely) from the Control Panel, but have to go into your settings.

The feature to Enable/Disable WiFi, Cell, Bluetooth, etc., via Control Panel is a great feature, but if you turn it off it should be “Off” and not just disconnected but still “On”.

I use Bluetooth for connection to headphones, my car, laptop, etc., but when I am not using the Bluetooth connections I always turn it off to save battery life...but now with the iOS 11.2 feature that it is not truly “Off” except if turned off in Settings makes the Control Panel feature less useful and will only add to the list of new iOS 11 features that kill your iPhone / iPad battery even faster...

Will Devs PLEASE provide feedback for bluetooth/wifi in control center to actually turn the functions OFF!!?!? Why Apple implemented the 'temporarily disconnected' buttons has to be one of the most idiotic software updates they have ever made. A user shouldn't have to go into the settings app to turn off this feature.

I seriously can't understand what the big deal is here.

I understand both sides of this argument, but it seems like an easy compromise to just implement a 3D touch ability to disconnect and/or disable wifi/bluetooth from control center. My personal preference is to disable wifi, as I rarely need to disconnect from a wifi network that's already part of my auto-join list. But I've adapted to the new way as well.

About the WiFi and Bluetooth implementation.

Use 3D touch for the real on and off.
Everybody is happy.

Come on Apple give us some choices!!
Next time Tim decides the Phone Dialer should not be present at night ;)

And for the next Beta put camera options in the camera app itself please.

It was implemented for a reason. Is not going to change. Make peace with it.
Am I the only one that actually likes how this works now? It was hugely frustrating to forget to turn wifi on after just wanting to disconnect from a network, and then only realise that it was off when I get a warning that I am nearing the end of my mobile data.

1. Control Center doesn’t turn off Bluetooth or WiFi, just disconnects current connection. This is a change in function in iOS 11. You don’t use Control Center to turn off either.
2. Can you provide any evidence besides your hurt feelings at this change that more battery is used or even that turning off Bluetooth or WiFi saves much battery?

i actually love this feature.
