Unfortunately, the flow is still:
Artist -> Albums w/songs showing

instead of how it used to be (prior to iOS7?):
Artist -> Albums -> Songs

For people like me that actually like listening to albums, this is really annoying. I don't want (a) to have to scroll through a list of songs to get to an older album and (b) the next album to just start playing right after the album I wanted to listen to.

I don't understand the value of showing all the songs along with the albums. It's basically flattening the hierarchy and making it harder to navigate. If someone can point out the value of the Albums w/songs display, maybe I can learn to like it a bit better, but right now I find it really annoying since I have to scroll around so much more just to play an album.

Thus ends my emotional rollercoaster from reading "Revamped music app" (joy) to this post (rage). The demise of Artist > Album > Songs coupled with horrific sorting is why I use Picky instead.

I just want to use Artist mode like I normally do, but with the albums as separate folders and NOT in a never ending list. That's the only thing that has frustrated me since IOS 7 :mad:

I think it makes sense because you probably have a preference for how you browse your music (whether it's by album, artist or genre) and do it that way 90%+ of the time. Now that is your default view and saves the navigation buttons for different types of content.

Still, that button is in an awkward position. Couldn’t they have moved it to the upper bar at least?

Just go to Album view already Jesus Christ why are people still whining about this

Because then you have to scroll through EVERY album and not just a certain artists ALBUMS, thus being more work, when that should have never been taken away in the first place...

Also, now at the bottom of the screen, just above "My Music Playlists Radio" there is a now playing bar. Tapping it will bring up the current track, album art, and other controls such as shuffle, up next, make available offline and delete .

The playing now bar stays right there even when moving back and forth between albums, playlists, and radio

upvoting because of mitch hedberg

I just want to add a currently playing song to a playlist :(

On the Beats Music app, the player screen has a prominent + button that lets you add/remove the song from your library, toggle whether it's available offline, or add it to a new or existing playlist.

If Apple kills the Beats UI and replaces it with the crap that is their Music app I'm going to be seriously pissed.

If you can turn on orientation lock for the music app only, I'll be happy. Music is the only app that I need orientation lock for because I use it while I'm running. I have way too much music to browse in landscape view anyway.

Because Apple is taking the time and resources to redesign the entire app; they might as well do it right.

That's not really a counter-argument. They still let you view your music one album at a time if you so choose. Just go to Album view scroll up, search for Album name, and there it is. It's not an 'issue,' it's good, streamlined design. Otherwise you'd have two separate Album views in two different part of the app.

I'm just glad Apple's the one calling the shots on this one. :)

Because 640k isn't enough for everyone? I don't see how scrolling through hundreds and hundreds of albums (I have 650 albums, which I consider pretty modest) is efficient.

I just want a view where I'm not forced to see album covers all the time. Also, when I tap on an artist, just seeing a text list of their albums that I can drill into instead of being forced to see not only all the album covers, but the full contents of every album. Makes it a real pain to pick a specific song/songs for an artist that you have more than a couple of albums of. Some of the artists on my iPhone I've got over half a dozen of their albums, more than ten albums in a few cases. A real pain in the arse to find what I want to play with the current setup.

Known issues: AirPlay streaming does not work.

AirPlay streaming hasn't worked since iOS 6. One of the major features of of Apple TV, and it's completely unreliable. Hopefully they'll release 8.4 along side an Apple TV update that finally prevents it from cutting out consistently.

I expect to be able to quickly browse through an artist's albums without having to wade through an endless list of tracks. That's why I selected Album view.

I agree 100%!!! If we all complain to Apple maybe they'll change it

Does anyone know if the albums are sorted chronologically or the current reverse chronological order?

Uh oh. Looks like the new Music app will be more cumbersome than ever, especially if one likes to frequently switch between different means of organising the library (albums, artists, songs). Why did they have to take all the function out of the tab bar?

I'm wondering the same thing. More specifically, does this version of the Music app adhere to the "sort album" tags set in iTunes? This has been broken since iOS 7.1.

Custom iTunes radio stations don't seem to be working and there's a weird bouncing effect when dragging the mini player down. Only radio stations working are the preloaded iTunes versions. Can't remove my custom radio stations either.
