Can those running this beta and GM watchOS 4 on an original watch confirm whether they can select in the watch app Settings/Notifications/Heart Rate? As I cant on mine.

I don’t it’s that Apple focuses its efforts on emojis and feels its the most import content of their updates, rather macrumors always points it out, parts joke parts tradition.

I am not on that exact combo, but do distinctly recall reading that the heart rate features on the original watch are very limited.

I am using the iOS beta, but other people I know with original watch running the standard iOS 11 ( non beta) have the option to select elevated heart rate notification, but I can’t. I just want to see if it’s a problem peculiar to me or whether the option has Been removed in the beta.

I suppose we need to have airplay 2 devices to try out first. At some point apple will enable Apple TV 4+

I thought there was a tvOS 11.1 also, so I was hoping it might get enabled by the combo of iOS 11.1 and tvOS 11.1 (Airplay 2 to multiple ATVs).

Don't understand the point of these incremental updates where they put 5-10 new emojis every time. They coulda easily put an "emoji package" into Appstore free to download and left it to user's choice.
No, they can't. Emojis are not random stickers. They are officially recognized characters in the Unicode Character Set (which is the One True Character Set supported by every modern electronic device - suggestions to use any older character set instead will be met with squeals of maniacal laughter from the entire tech community), and the Unicode Character Set is controlled by a standards group called The Unicode Consortium. To comply with the standard, you can't pick and choose characters ("I think maybe we'll leave out the letter 'Q', because I don't like it."), you need to support the whole character set. Some Unicode Consortium committee that is responsible for Emoji, keeps approving people's requests for new Emoji. Apple is just adding images (as required) to go along with the newly assigned characters.

Now, I'm no fan of all these new Emoji. I wish they'd stop adding new ones (I wish they had stopped a couple years ago). But I'm not in charge of this. And neither is Apple. If you want to get them stopped, go find the committee in charge of Emoji, at the Unicode Consortium, and complain to them.

Now, note that this article is about a new beta release of the OS. Said release fixes a bunch of things (along with adding a few new Emoji). MacRumors chooses to illustrate the article with two pictures: one of a phone with "iOS 11.1 Beta" written next to it, and the other with a picture of the new Emoji (instead of some picture relating to any of the other fixes). Which gets people riled up. And reading. And commenting. And loading lots of pages. Does that suggest anything to you?

Blame the Unicode Consortium for there being new Emoji. And blame MacRumors for waving the red flag of new Emoji in front of your face. But neither of those is Apple's fault.

I have a feeling that there will be one more beta before iOS 11.1 is released to the public. I also suspect that the people receiving the preordered iPhone X will have to update their iPhones to iOS 11.1. Just my little thoughts.

I'm not sure that's correct. I'm on Beta 4 (11.1 15B92) and the Feedback app is still on my phone.

Are you sure it just hasn't moved?

It has been removed from both my iPhone 7+ and my iPad Pro 10.5. Are you on the Public Beta, or the Dev? One of my friends is on Public, and it didn't get removed with the update. I'm on the Dev profile and it's gone for sure.

It was actually moved. . . at least on my S3. It's available under Heart Rate when you first open the Watch App. See screens.

Edit: I'm sorry, you said original Apple Watch, I didn't notice that until now. My Apologies.

Seems like short of something unexpected being discovered or needing to be addressed, it seems like this will most likely be the last beta (and the public release is probably within the next couple of weeks or so): https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ulation-thread.2048587/page-120#post-25252145

Never did.
That’s really strange, I thought it was going to be a beta issue as I have seen 3 iPhones that have never run beta connected to original watches having this feature. Yet if yours didn’t have the feature before you went to beta, that rubbishes that theory.

I am always on a beta though. Seems I have not had a regular release since the watch was delivered to me. LOL

Ive noticed that my SE will wake up in landscape mode when 10.x never did and sometimes it's difficult to get it to switch to portrait. Hope they fix this soon.. Really annoying. Although I haven't seen people complaining about it so maybe it's just me.
Restore as new. /s Lol
