I really cannot wait until people realise that more than one person works on OS X and resources are not being funnelled onto an additional set of icons...

So... are you saying that several people are working on several burrito emojis at the same time?! Jeez!

So? The article is headlined with "Bugs, bugs and more bugs" - and fails to mention a single, concrete one?! WTF? Instead it gives a link to the biggest noob forum on Earth, the Apple Discussion Forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_el_capitan - people discussing there are more often too dumb to even open a ****ing Terminal! You could tell them to "connect the ****ing Wi-Fi cable - and they'd try to do it!".

And that is the basis of this article?! Together with well-founded statements of the author like "Having dabbled with both the betas and final release on test systems, I've touched on enough issues [edit: like ****ing what?!] to make me uncharacteristically restrained when it comes to 10.11."?

Yeah, "dabbling with the betas" - 'nuf said!

Gimme a break!

Thanks for that info; after reading that I'll wait a little longer.

um, you know that this is just a FUD article by someone who browsed some typical forum hysterics, but has no real own experience. Most real experiences seem to be excellent. Of course, there are as always some problems for individual users, but on the whole 10.11 seems to be a very stable release.

When I bought my MacBook Pro with retina display in 2012 i paid about 18'600 NOK (with 10% student discount). That was the high end 15" with a 16GB RAM upgrade. (8GB was standard.) No upgrade to CPU or SSD. The high end MacBook Pro with retina display today starts at 25'750 NOK (with student discount) it now has 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD and 2GB VRAM standard, so it's certainly better, but because of this price increase and no increase in my economy as a student, I'm unlikely to buy a new Mac for many years unless I get a really good job right after completing my studies next year.

How long have YOU been using computers?! Certainly not in the 90's! Those where emoticons - not ****ing burrito emojis! And emoticons exist since longer than the 90'ies (specifically: in around 1986 on some ASCII NET Japan).

So much for history distortion...

Yup, My first experience using emoticons were back in the late 90's when I was using ICQ and AOL messenger. Maybe earlier with email, but I can't remember. And they were very limited to smiley faces. Nowadays with these emojis, you can build an entire multicultural skyscraper city.

It is sad to see Apple to focus on gfx happy faces instead of it's customers real happy faces. Do some debugging and stop chatting while using those emojis.

Apple is being intentionally cryptic at what's probably considered the 'non-breaking API' phase of development. This is standard in semver open source (except every git commit is commented on and tracked..) but they're just not making breaking changes, so every release says 'emojis'. It's probably an inside joke I have no idea

...and this has what exactly to do with the new 10.11.1 beta?

Finally, I can give people the finger in a wonderful new way. Thank you Apple! Another dream has been fulfilled.

Glad to hear about the fixes, etc. but for me it's all about the finger really in this release. I'll be installing this point release on day one so I can get about the serious business of properly making my true feelings known. The only question now really is who gets it first? Decisions... decisions...

If we have to have these emoji things, I wish they'd at least give me the ones I could use, the metal fist and 'the shocker'. :) (oops, just used one)

Is anyone else having a problem downloading and installing the beta? The installation fails with this error message below, and then downloads from scratch when attempting to install again. It's a cycle.

There was a patch for Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac, this should've solved the problems (at least it did for me).
The Office 2016 15.15 patch doesn't resolve the problems with 10.11: https://support.office.com/en-us/ar...-Capitan-4dc92cb5-57d1-43d3-aec7-6076b0da547f
Microsoft said:
This update doesn’t address the issues experienced by Office customers with OS X 10.11 El Capitan. We are actively working with Apple to ensure resolution with the next update of OS X 10.11 El Capitan.

Most likely, the fixes will be in 10.11.1.

That seems to be the case here. Running MS Office 2016 on this latest 10.11.1 beta appears to be very stable, and crash free (so far). I left Word, Excel, and OneNote running overnight, and they actually still worked this morning. Prior to this latest beta (even with the latest MS patch), the office apps would continually hang overnight (or during heavy use), and require a force quit. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is the winning combo.

A chill pill might do you good. You're taking my post way too seriously. If you don't want to lose credibility don't use profanity. Calm down.

Emojis are aggravating. They should have zero place in a work environment but the girls in my corporate office just can't seem to get enough of them. That should be a write up. Its just not business professional.

On the topic of the article, the performance on my Mac Mini has definitely improved. Snappier than 10.11. Fan speed is lower. Quit dropping my network randomly. Safari tabs quit freezing when I swipe back.

And Office is working again. Outlook doesn't freeze and crash. Excel and Word open up 10,000x (estimated) faster.

While I like the new beach ball, I'm happy to say that I haven't been seeing much of it at all.
