Just finished, sexy Hello screen. Got it all up now, seems to be working a little snappier with the new update. No issues to report yet. Time will reveal them, I'm sure.

uhm, i think mine is bricked. just rebooted it self and back to the same old screen. any suggestions anyone??

Find the reports of slowness and bad battery life hilarious. I used my daughters iPhone 3GS and I felt Amish...

Well, at least you're in touch with your feminine side. I still can't get used to the 'my little pony-ish' color schemes I'm seeing.

The "my little pony-ish" color schemes you've been seeing are only present if you have a 'my little pony-ish" color schemed wallpaper. The default wallpapers are unfortunately in that group. If you want a different color scheme, changing the wallpaper is all you have to do.

...seriously, as designer myself I really try to see the positive side of this new design, but I can't find any. I like the idea that the design will be flat, but the way Apple designers have designed it -so far- is something I simply can't comprehend.

It looks way to simplistic to me, as if designed by one without any passion for design, the icon's look sloppy, as if the designer simply stopped in phase one of the design.

Why can't apple just build in a way users can those between different themes?

Maybe its just me but i honestly don't see what the complaints are about.

That sounds normal... Mine rebooted after the progress bar filled up, then i went through a second progress bar that didn't take as long.

i see, well i hope i didnt ruin it by rebooting it my self earlier on. I decided to just let it be and see what happens in an hour...

till now its on the progress bar again.

This thread needs more people complaining about stuff that's common in early betas of any OS. Also needs more complaints about battery life and the new icons.

Yeah this silly excuse you never hear when Apple comes hit with a new system where all the Apple fanboys are chanting Hallelujah. It's also kind of naive to think the whole user interface design will look at release.

But you're free to use this excuse until release where you'll see that you're wrong.

Some of the icons can use a revisit. However anyone outside of sites like this that I have shown iOS 7 to has had positive comments. Everything from it looks cleaner, more modern, sleek, less cluttered. Of course my small sample does not speak for everyone else but I have a feeling that the mass majority of iPhone users will be happy with the change.

We're a small percentage of the total iPhone users but make a lot of noise.

Please tell me the 9 year old kids that designed the icons have grown up to be atleast 21 now.

+1 The iTunes Store icon hurts my eyes. Neon glow pink, I just can't stand it. Fortunately I don't use iTunes Store on my phone. The others are somewhat better, but too saturated, like a cartoon, and the gradient is too harsh, too overused.

This is afwul. Beta 2 is worse. Notifications dont show on the homescreen even if its turned on in settings. so when a message comes in it doesn't show. then when you turn the screen on you now have to pull down notifications centre to see whats come in

reboot

Icon Ha8ers

I personally think the icons look fine, yeah very different, overly simplistic, but wasn't that the point of the UI refresh? I'm more critical of functionality than icon design. You can't paint a picture that EVERYONE will love. I feel as long as the functionality of the software is there, who cares if the icons look cheesy or not? Apple still has that visual edge that sets them apart from the competition in more than one way.

That's a very grown up way of calling someone a girl, tell me did some big bully steal your lunch money today?

Stop.

iOS 7 doesn't look bad at all. Everyone who isn't a nerd has absolutely loved iOS 7 when seeing it on my phone. I'll admit, when I first saw it, I loved it, but then it began to look worse and worse as I waited for the update to go live on launch day. Once it did, and once I changed the wallpaper away from one of the stock ones, it looked 100% better. The entire feel of the OS changes with your wallpaper. If you have a bright, girly wallpaper, your phone will feel girly. If you have a dark, serious wallpaper, your phone will have a more serious feel to it. It works so well that it makes the phone feel a ton more customizable, even when it isn't. Sure, some of the icons are a bit rough and need redone, but for the most part, I can't even use iOS 6 anymore due to the stale, outdated look it has.

Apple isn't being destroyed by anything, so stop being overly sensational. If you don't like iOS 7, then simply switch to Android or Windows Phone. Absolutely nobody is forcing you to use it if you don't like it.

I'll agree with you here. But be careful, you make it sound like girls aren't serious.

Any idea on how to get rid of the nicknames that appear in iMessage instead of their full name?

I wished this was true for Apple, but it isn't.

http://news.investors.com/technolog...-aapl-facing-backlash-over-ios-7-redesign.htm

I also noticing that when criticize Apple's look and feel approach, even in beta as if the whole design will be changed at release (not going to happen), you get crucified here.

I love Apple products, but I became allergic to Apple fanboys dogmatic reaction in this. One criticize remark and you're making noise, are suddenly a minority, don't know where you're talking about etc etc... Even though I'm a designer myself.... but that aside. And no, I happened to like much of Apple's previous design so the sophism argument that I would always criticize other designs is also not true..

Emotions seems to stand a "normal" conversation in the way among many Apple fanboys. I just gave my point of view, I didn't raped an Apple although that would considered to be a healthy thing to do....

Not 100% sure but I think they tweaked the parallax effect on the home screen to make it a little more pronounced and work better from left to right while the iPhone is held vertically.

Music Player Woes

In all in I'm liking 7. Beta 2 has done a couple of things to Music Player though:

  • Can not delete a song from a playlist
  • Can no longer delete a song from Now Playing List view (click the list view button in top right and then the album tab if playing a playlist)

They still haven't added an Add Song To Playlist option in the New Playing Screen. I constantly send in a Feature Request for this.

I'll agree with you here. But be careful, you make it sound like girls aren't serious.

Tell a girl your honest opinion about her hair, makeup, outfit or music selections and they get serious really fast.... du-raaaaammmaaaa
