On a 3-month average between updates (10.5.7 has taken 4 months), that would put 10.6 out until at least January.

Snow Leopard can be released and Leopard still updated... they've done that with Tiger for example.

Apple needs to get the next version out the door before windows 7, so Apple can market it against Vista and MS can't compare W7 to the soon 'outdated' Leopard. There is clearly a race to be first, lets hope for a reasonable bug free release.

I just really hope that Apple has fixed the bug where the dock keeps popping up while watching a movie in QuckTime in fullscreen mode. It's so annoying!

3 * 3 = 9. Nine months from now is January.

Apple will release Snow Leopard this year, Probably no later than September. They were burned when they had to delay leopard i think they will try very hard not to delay this one... it has been promised for approximately 1 year after June 2008 and i think they will stick to that... though i may end up eating those words ;)

Me too! I've complained to Apple, but they don't seem to care.

I don't understand why people keep saying "hmm maybe 10.5.7 means SL will be released soon" ... why would it make it difference, I don't think Apple goes by that ... if they need to fix something in Leopard, then they will.

Looking forward to getting 10.5.7 though they have spent a lot of time on it so should be a pretty solid release

It's a bug with MobileMe syncing of preferences and Dock items. If you turn off syncing of those two things the issue goes away.

How? What?

The new OS X this year? Do you think they will show us some of the new Leopard Snow OS this June at the WWDC?

Does anyone know if Apple will be changing their notebooks' lineup this year? I want one and also do you think that the new OS will come out this year or perhaps early 2010?

My 8600M GT fried yesterday so my MBP will be "in the shop" for a week or so. I hope I get it back before the update is released.

Why? No seriously, Why? That's kind of a bizarre statement to make so I'm just curious.

Because maybe he likes the stability of 10.5.6 and thinks the Apple Store will automatically upgrade him to the latest (10.5.7) when the fix his MBP.

I don't think so, they rushed 10.5 out and it was hell for a while with all the bugs. I'm sure the release of Windows 7 wont significantly affect continuing sales of 10.5 and macs, and future sales of 10.6.

Gah! You beat me to it. As soon as I saw "dock bug" I knew it was nothing to do with Quicktime. Shame it happens, but it sometimes alerts me to new messages in Mail :p

An OS update is appreciated but are there any rumors on Safari 4.0 beta being updated at the same time 10.5.7 comes out? That would make sense since this article states there are still issues with it not working with the latest OSX builds. :)

You all crack me up. Every single time they seed the next build everybody jumps on here and says it will be out next week. Statistically, you are all horrible guessers. It's been over a month of next weeks already....:D

I am still on Tiger. But I hope for the happiness of the board that you are all right this time. Good luck with Monday.
