The list goes on. Apple as a corporation is far from a little angel.

Except that no one besides those at the receiving end of Apple's lawsuits actually care.

Apple's legal maneuvers and patent activities don't factor into consumer buying decisions. Nor is there any point for it to be otherwise.

this whole thing is bringing down apples image here in germany. Seriously. Im so sick of those "haha whos apple gonna sue next jokes" i here from ppl and in the media every day.

and this thing looks even less like the ipad, more like the htc fly. Its getting redic

You're gonna get downvoted to hell with this post. But apple is really making it hard for me to respect them. It's been like that since they started suing left and right

I've been disgusted with Apple ever since the iPod had its monopoly on the digital audio player.

That clever deal with Samsung to provide Apple dibs on NAND memory at low cost before any other competitor could sell a product at a fair price was TOTAL BULL.

Price fixing at its best.

Apple owes a LOT to Samsung for its success. If the iPod was never created or got off the ground like it did, it would NEVER have been the company it is today.

So why the hell have people been defending Apple so damn much?

As for the downrank, I dont care, I expect that on macrumors, its been very obvious as history has shown that any criticism towards apple is always downranked, not matter how much in favour of the consumer it may be in. Its blind ignorant worship at its finest.

Apple could release a product, throw in the typical limitation (choice) and I could point it out and I'd get downranked.

Basically, NO! Apple is a holy entity that cannot be questioned! Makes me sick to my stomach that people are THAT obsessed over an effing BRAND.

I buy apple's product for their PURPOSE, not for any other reason.

The first iteration of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was too close to the iPad, but the 10.1N is perfectly unique.
I must agree in this case that Apple is becoming a patent troll.

I... don't know about this. I definitely applaud Apple for defending its creations, and feel that Samsung has shown it's willing to negotiate by tweaking the design of its products. To continue to unilaterally sue Samsung into oblivion... I feel that Apple needs to draw a line somewhere and say alright, let's talk about royalties and features and functions you're going to hamstrung the Tab with in exchange for us dropping the lawsuit. That silver band and the different aspect ratio might be enough to set the Tab apart from the iPad. I just feel there needs to be dialogue somewhere, instead of this lawsuit bloodbath.

Exactly, and why is Apple only targeting Samsung, and not all the other iPad ripoffs? Samsung and Apple should try to have a special positive relationship due to the dependance on various parts… I don't think there's a point in this, and it's true that there aren't many ways to make a tablet: a screen is always rectangular, and a touchscreen means that there are no buttons, so that's all there is: a rectangular screen. There's not much you can do to make it special.

Sure, Apple was the first to say that tablets are awesome, and everyone followed. But you have to deal with this, and instead of forcing others to stop copying you, make something that they can't copy and let the others keep making bad products, which is already the case anyway. There's no point in making your competitors hate you, especially if you rely on them for your products, and especially if there is no real point since Samsung tablets don't really compete with iPads.

And I understand that it sucks that you have a great idea and everyone copies you with no respect, and that you just want to defend yourself and make justice, but in today's world you can't really fight it. It's the natural flow of things and unless it doing real harm, it has to be left alone...

Wow Apple give it a rest.

Samsung tablets are about as much of a threat as Geo Metros are to Ferrari sales.

Totally agree with you. If someone wants Galaxy Tab they want it for it being an Android device. I don't know of people who are going to confuse the two.

The box is going to have SAMSUNG GALAXY printed on it... not Apple iPad ;)

Apple should just let it go. Use their money for something more productive.

Samsung should really innovate their own UI! The design of iPad isn't good at all... Apple's taste has been downgrading since iBook and PowerBook... sadly...

This is getting ridiculous. So, only Apple is allowed to design a tablet with a screen and a black bezel? That's like saying only Ford is allowed to design a car with 4 wheels.

For your analogy to work Apple would need to be suing anyone who made a tablet that utilized a touchscreen for its primary input method. They’re not. If Ford were to do what Samsung has done, it would be more akin to them taking the Porsche 911, extend the wheel base a few inches, using their own engine engine and a new interior and trying to say it was their own. You better believe Porsche would be suing Ford out of business if they tried to do that.

I totally agree with you. Before the lawsuit, I wasn't even aware of Galaxy...

ok the new design even less like an iPad, in that case why are they not suing Asus, Motorola, Acer, Toshiba, Lenovo, LG, etc?

It's odd that Jobs was so proud to admit that he shamelessly stole good ideas, but would sue in a heartbeat if someone stole his. Apple is now bigger than Jobs alone, but that mentality still remains and it's extremely hypocritical.

Does anyone else get deja vu when they begin reading the responses on this "Apple sues Company X" threads?

...

What you're trying to say:

I was hurt when Apple had monopoly over the digital audio player market through their iPods.

Does it even make sense?

The original iPod was a great product. And iPods have a come a long way since then. Being sad or disgusted just because a company sells a ******** of their stuff is not just stupid, but sad too.

Manifestation of Steve's vow to go Thermonuclear War to kill Android (or its ilk). Lawsuits against Samsung are a proxy to that effort.

Ok, so we know you didn't have an iPod.

I acually did. I sent it back for repairs and sold it because:

1) The battery died on me in less than 10 months, lasting me no more than 25 minutes on a 'full charge'
2) Once the battery died, the hard drive inside was reporting as failed.

Apart from that, I never went back to an ipod because:

-forced use of itunes
-no removable battery
-no way to retrieve music or other files from the device from other computers
-no custom 3 or 5 band equalizer settings
-piss poor battery life regardless of new or used
-awful sound quality (not even debatable, its been proved that apple's SQ is the worst)
-no support for other formats (ogg, flac, etc)
-etc.

Its only saving grace was the scroll wheel.

ps. It must be humbling being proven wrong.

10.1 v 10.1N

Am I the only one that see's that the 10.1 and 10.1N devices look about 99.9% the same? I hope the revisions to make it a 10.1N were not just the physical look of the device.

And Apple thought it could get away with 'copying' Creative's UI.

Are you aware of what those patents are that Apple's crying about? They're vague and verbose. They should be thrown out of the courtroom and Apple should be told to continue innovating. Steve Jobs bitched about Google entering the mobile devices area and deciding to compete with them, but for some reason Google got exempt and has gone after Samsung, an area where Apple decided to compete against THEM?

Wow. Your facts.

And people up rank you for that...

You mean you don't remember this:

And then this:

???

EMPHATICALLY, NO! DON'T give it a rest! Apple has not only the right, but the obligation to defend its patents. If it doesn't, it loses them, plain and simple.

You're thinking of trademarks. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to post with certainty like that.

I buy apple's product

So why do you keep buying Apple gear and then posting about how much you hate Apple on an Apple-centric forum?
