And watch Apple release a iPhone 5s knowing full well that it will not surpass iPhone 5 sales. Heck; the iPhone 5 is getting beat by iPhone 4s/4 models. Apple just does not have the guns to go up against Samsung let alone the entire Android army. No more innovation left at Apple so they have to use our money in court.

Your sarcasm detector needs a tune up. That being said, let's stop making up facts. The "vast majority" of android phones sold are not 4.5 to 5 inches.

Yes the vast majority as of now is between 3.5-4.3.

I'll provide the source since you didn't

The S4 is practically the same as the S3, why wouldn't Apple add it to the list?

Are you implying that both the S3 and S4 are copies of the iPhone?

I'll provide the source since you didn't

So, again, the vast majority of phones sold are not between 4.5 and 5 inches, right?

Like I said, let's not make up facts. Thanks for backing up my statement.

Can we ALL stop making up facts. That includes you and your "blog" :)

So normal is dependant on the "era" and not on the size of the human palm?

Size of the palm is just one aspect. Who said that palm size should be the limiting factor here? We use, say, laptops that are much bigger than palms just fine. Two other factors:

* Technical feasibility. In 2007 the battery on a 5' screen phone would last an hour, the phone would cost $2000 and graphics would be extremely slow.

* What we use the phones for. Nowadays we use them for anything but phone calls. We use them mostly as computers and people prefer to have decent (size wise) screens for their computers.

So, sure, those who use phone mostly for calling will prefer smaller phones. Others (the majority) want bigger phones.

seriously, so annoying. didn't cook even say he never supported the idea of taking samsung to court? why won't they just stop it? the judges should fine both of them 1bn and donate it to children in africa

Or they could judge against apple and get hired by samsung. Oh wait...

I'll just add that Apple is great at marketing and they have brought a lot to the cell phone market as well.

But that diagram showing phones before and after the iPhone is relatively meaningless as that was the direction phones were going. Several manufacturers already had full touch screen phones in the pipeline. You might argue whether or not their OS would have been as good. But the hardware - the phones were already being designed in that manner. Further - you could also argue that Apple was great in CONFIRMING what the public wanted and needing which helped drive adoption for competitors. But at no time should anyone crap on/dismiss or ignore the tremendous history of research, development, financial stake of those companies that came before Apple in the industry.

Apple entered it "officially" in 2007. Cell phones and even smart phones were around much longer.

so basically technology company like apple is more busy w/ lawyers than engineers who haven't done @#$ in about 5 years for iphone.. wow.. what a crap.. I see so many people at my work switching over to HTC or samsung s4... I wonder how much apple will go down in stocks this year when they troll out iphone 5s

Ah makes me remember my first debate with an iPhone fanboy. He kept on arguying that the camera on the original iPhone was better than the camera on the Nokia N95... Good times.

Right, because your co-workers switching to HTC or Sammy S4 are indicative of people as a whole moving away from the iPhone and Apple's decline in stocks. ;)

I don't really make calls on my phone either, but I still don't want a huge thing in my pocket. The whole point (again, for me) is that I have a super portable device that I can do lots of wonderful things on without it getting in my way.

Phone sizes may be getting bigger, but my pockets aren't.

It's refreshing to see that Apple fans are now sick of this stuff too. I just got an S3 (I'm not an apple hater I own 2 MBPs and ipad and an iphone). The S3 is so much more interesting than my iphone. Apple has had a hard time doing innovative things in the phone realm for a while but they've certainly taught us how important court is in developing new ideas.

Yeah, these are hard core apple geeks who live and die by apple products who used to laugh at idea of joining the other side. I don't care how much stuff apple sells in others.. phone is where war is at and they are losing it. Things are changing fast and apple is standing still.

People like you with no clue is why apple is sliding in their stocks.

Says the guy with 2 MacBooks, iPad in his signature and calling himself "The biggest MBP fan and believer". ;). You feeding them the way you are helps them to stifle innovation. Why should they improve anything with you around. Blame yourself, don't call me clueless.

I too know several people who switched from iPhones to Android phones. 2013 was the year I also bought an Android phone, a Nexus 4. I also used an AT&T upgrade this year to but a 4S. I didn't feel the 5 was worth using an upgrade on.

I don;t now of one person personal life or in my job who owns an iPhone anymore. I am the only one.

The Macbook and the iPhone are two completely different products. I, too love my Macbook, but could not get attached to an iPhone. Get over it.

buy a computer?

you dont see me buying a car for hauling 20t of sand, - photoshop on a mobile phone.

until we get expandable screens, mobile phones are 'exchange information' and 'poor media consumption devices' at best, even with 5 inches screens.

so why try to build a phone around a computer paradigm when the results will always be poor. lets build it around 'perfect mobile phone paradigm' with occasional semi-computer use, like iPhone for example.

the fundamental difference between the computer paradigm and perfect mobile phone paradigm is that you HOLD YOUR PHONE IN YOUR HAND, hence the size of the palm is not a limiting factor, its a FUNDAMENTAL FACTOR around which a mobile phone is built.

5 inch screens? you get slightly better media consumption (from ****-poor to piss-poor) in exchange for lack of one-hand operability, a large table in your pocket and an idot-aura when using it as a phone on your ears (some of us still make calls, believe it or not)

but come on people, media consumption on a 5 inch screen? 6 inch? get a grip, and buy a computer with real screen, or at least a tablet. i wont even touch media production.

btw, theres a reason for differentiation. mobile phones cant be computers. both are built for different uses and if you mix them, you always get mediocre results, thats why they are separated. remember? differentiation? thats what got us here in the first place, from the stone age, i mean. and just to make sure, difference between computers and mobile phones is solely the size, both are basically computers. question just popped in my mind, why not make phones like imacs with 27 inch screens? it would be awesome to watch movies on that.

and if you really insist on super-mobile devices with larger screens, check out the tablets.

thank god for apple's authoritarianism

ps. please, reread the bolded statement at least twice

and no hard feelings, im just killing time :)
