It’s worth remembering there is no secret stash of iPhones... if someone has their order prioritised, someone else is getting theirs de-prioritised.
Actually there is... Apple business customers are filled out of a different inventory the consumers.

Oh that’s fine then, it doesn’t count as a de-prioritisation if it’s a business customer does it...

so then what was the point of sending the damn email in the first place?

I got a slightly different email (emphasis mine)

I ordered at 12:06 PDT and had the 11/3 delivery date. I purchased with the IUP and got the processing message. I was concerned because I had no order number or reservation number or anything.

Sooo, I went and placed a second order. Paid outright. Ship date 11/17-11/24. Dangit. It had an error that it could not contact AT&T for verification and would email me within 24 hours to confirm. I went to bed.

at 4:30 I got up for work, and had the dreaded email that my initial IUP order had been cancelled and I needed to re-order. So I did. Went right through, ship date 5-6 weeks. I called and spoke to apple, was told that they couldn't do anything, but they asked for and took my order numbers.

I haven't received any email form apple, but after reading here earlier today, I went ahead and emailed them first. I have not heard back in the last 8 hours. I kinda hope that my call and giving my order number will fix it.

I just now got an email stating I had two orders and needed to cancel one within the next 48 hours. I called Apple again and they had no additional information. They agreed with waiting the 48 hours before cancelling and if I hadn't heard back then to keep the earlier delivering one. Sounds like my best option

Yep. Even though I never got an email requesting them to send my order number I did anyway and explained myself and they sent me this email. Hopefully my date moves up a lot!

My "fixed" order for a 256GB space gray model on AT&T originally was scheduled to ship out in mid-December but has been updated to November 17-24th at some point in the past six hours. Hopefully that estimate gets updated further, seeing how I canceled an order with AT&T that would have arrived on Launch Day so that I could use the IUP instead of AT&T Next Every Year. One should hope that Apple, especially given the pedigree of their leadership, understands that a premium product requires service to match, and that merely shoving us back into the middle of the line rather than the beginning isn't enough.

[doublepost=1509313449][/doublepost]I got the same email, and I just looked and see that I have been upgraded to November 3rd from 12/12. Good luck everyone, they are expediting us by where we were supposed to be.

Just re-checked my delivery date, and it got moved to November 17-24 (my original date) from mid-December. This happened within the past 6 hours. (Didn’t think it would change on a Sunday.) I’m a happy camper again!

My date when I clicked order was originally 11/3. My new order was 12/18.

Apple has now updated my new order to 11/17. That’s a pretty decent up swing, as I know right after my order I watched all the phones slip to 2-3 weeks, which is where I stand now. Thank you Apple for your response to this issue.

Thanks everyone for giving out their updates as well.

They only do both charges (from citizens one and the apple charge) once it ships right? or is it when its PFS?

YAYYYYYY

Mine says check your order status in 2-3 days but when I check it now it still says dec 11-13. I have my fingers crossed for a 2-3 week figure!!

Wow amazing. Does your order status show as shipped with a tracking number and everything now? Or is it still "in process?"
[doublepost=1509326747][/doublepost]It’s still in progress, but show 11/3, and they just charged my card the initial payment.

I switched to Verizon's upgrade plan after the snafu in order to get my phone by the 15th but am now considering cancelling my order and placing a new one through the upgrade program in order to get my original date of 11/3 back. This thread is encouraging. If anyone hears anything else before the midnight PDT deadline post here to help others in the same position

Update: I sent an email to orderupdate@apple.com early yesterday afternoon, but I haven't received a response.

I have now spoken/chatted with 16 Apple reps and 3 Citizens One reps. I finally got a rep on chat (rep #12) that knew about the situation and told me that I likely wasn't included on the "list" from Citizens One and that I'd need to contact them. Citizens One again confirmed that I was affected by the error, but said that they can't call Apple to provide my information, Apple would have to contact them. The Apple reps I've spoken with since are unaware of this issue. A supervisor may call me back on Tuesday.

I have now spoken to 9 Apple reps (iPhone sales, customer service, manager, etc) and all of them insist that these emails were never sent to any customer. I experienced this same issue and have not received an email. I'm currently at 2 hours 53 minutes on this call with Support arguing about this (for a total of 6 hours of calls with them).

Can anyone provide the email address this came from or any concrete evidence that Apple is offering any resolution on this? Because they are adamant that they are not offering anything to customers who encountered this failure.

At least Apple is trying to do right for people who experienced preordering snafus. I actually did not apply for one of the Critizen One loans this year because I was concerned glitches like these would occur.

Apple really needs to re-examine how they do their preordering process. A mad rush a 12AM PST doesn’t seem to be practical anymore.

No matter the time of day preorders go live there would be a mad rush. How do you propose they fix the situation?

I just wonder how it is with the shipping dates. I have a feeling apple is playing with it more than usual to get an hype going.
They want those lines at the apple store at nov 3th!
A week after nov 3th, when everyone is hyped up and think they won’ t be able to get one before the holidays, apple could improve shipping dates, so it will have a second rush for the iphone x.

If you look at current shipping dates of 5 to 6 weeks, and the rumors that apple will get 20 million before the end of 2017, i guess apple must have sold about 10 million in opening weekend. Great numbers ! But i get a feeling that it is less scarce than apple has lead us to believe.

This is sad, the ordering system was such a mess, they are reaching out to the customer for details...... owww dear....

How is this a bad thing? Seriously I swear some people can never be satisfied. Find me one other company that tried to help customers who got glitched out during a massive pre-order.

Target, Amazon, and Gamestop never helped me when I lost out on the SNES Classic preorder due to heavy site traffic and glitches. Heck people are still waiting on their Amazon preorders despite Amazon magically filling their Treasure Trucks with them.

Walmart never helped me when they listed a preorder for the SNES classic, charged my card, then cancelled it a week later because "preorders weren't to go up that early". Then when they did go up people who snagged one are still waiting a month later...all while the retailer is getting units in the stores.

The fact that Apple is reaching out to people who got screwed by the issues that arise with heavy internet traffic is a great thing, yet everyone wants to criticize.

This seems like a ton of unnecessary effort!

Did you get an email stating there was an issue with your order? And did our reorder?

All I did was forward them that initial "failed" attempt email and told them my new order number. They got back to me in less than 30 hours and told me to check my order status in 2-3 days.

I too did not get apples email re: them wanting to fix the situation but Apple is the pass through to citizens bank- no need to call them.

Just tried a chat with Apple Customer Service. I explained the situation (Citizens Bank thing) and they said they sent a request to get my ship date bumped up to the original 'expected by date'. I should know in the next 24-48 hours. So give a try folks, nothing to lose. I basically decided I was not going to wait for them, that I had to at least attempt to make something happen.

We will see tho, cautiously optimistic.

PS I was online the second they opened and made my order, so I didn't wait on it. Refreshed my app a hundred times.

I called twice on Friday with no luck. I then received the email, placed a new order, and then replied with my order number. My delivery date is now 11/3 which is not the same as the in-store pickup I wanted since I'll be out of town on Friday but it's better than waiting several weeks.

So today, I saw my shipping estimate of Dec 12-19 go back up to Nov 3! I'm happy that they followed through.

How long did it take after the "we've updated your information" e-mail to see a change in your shipping date? I got that follow-up e-mail yesterday early afternoon but my shipping date remains unchanged.
