When I see post by Iphone 4 fans about not wanting a 4in screen like the droid. If apple release a 4in iphone 5, you all would get it! Its just that simple, you dont know what you are missing until you get it in your hands...
Because the iPod Touch can hold 2 NAND chips. The iPhone only one.
The 3GS's processor and GPU already runs all features of iOS5 and 99.9% of the games/programs in the App Store.
Most test results indicated battery life in the iP4 /iP5 was marginally better than the 3GS, nothing noticeable.
A gimmick. I've yet to encounter an iP4 user who uses his front-facing camera regularly (beyond testing it out when he first got it).
A gimmick, especially given the wifi limitation.
Nice, but worth $200 and 2 year service agreement?
I suppose if I had kids, I might care -- but I don't. The only video I shoot on my iPhone is gimmicky 10-15 second clips to send to friends.
I'm a guy. I don't feel the need to take pictures constantly just to show what an interesting life I lead to all my Facebook friends. I take pictures of funny things to send to friends, none of which require anything beyond what is already in the iPhone 4.
Add an optical zoom or a real flash and maybe I'd be interested.
You mean I too can own a phone that shatters from 3 foot drops? Fantastic!
Again -- gives no access to new iOS features, opens up no new possibilities for apps on the app store.
Does what, exactly?
I've yet to encounter an app that my 3GS couldn't download or couldn't run. When I start encountering apps like that, I'll grant you the point. But I'll all but guarantee you those kinds of apps won't start popping up so long as the iP4 remains popular.

What jump?
iOS 5 and virtually every app on the app store already runs on the 3GS.
What is softwear? Is Apple releasing a phone that looks like a comfy sweater? maybe it will be a shoe phone like Get Smart uses.
As I read this I can't help but remember what the "analysts" were saying about the iPad 2 before it's release.
At first they said there was absolutely NO POSSIBLE WAY that Apple would be releasing another iPad any time soon. They had inside sources deeply rooted inside the various stages of production, and none of them had heard a peep about any new products. There was NO WAY that Apple could produce millions of units and keep it under wraps.
Then when it was pretty clear an iPad 2 WAS coming, they reassured everyone that it was only a minor spec bump. It would look identical to the current iPad, and bring only a faster processor and more RAM to the table. Regardless, because of the lack of chatter from the production lines, the soonest they could ever launch a new product would be months and months away.
Then Apple finally sent out invited for an event, and they made it blatantly clear it would be about the iPad and it was only days away. The day of the event comes, Apple announces a BRAND NEW iPad, and it's completely different from the original model. It's in a brand new enclosure, it has front and rear cameras, it's much faster, and it has innovative features like the magnetic cover that nobody saw coming. Then to top everything off, they announce it will be available for purchases in a matter of DAYS, not months, like the "experts" predicted.
After all of that I lost all hope in any legit leaks coming from analysts regarding specifics about hardware. Apple already had a tight ship before the iPhone 4/Gizmodo incident, and they tightened it even more afterwords. You and I both know that ANY new feature the next iPhone has will be copied within months of it's release, maybe even sooner. That means Engineers from competing companies most likely begin the copying process the second they hear about it during the product announcement. Apple didn't become the most valuable computer/electronics company in the world by sharing company secrets, and considering the iPhone is arguably the product that got them to where they are now, you can expect them to be EXTREMELY secretive about it. The only leaks regarding the next iPhone that can be taken seriously are the leaks surrounding future deals with carriers (i.e. Sprint getting the iPhone).
The fact is, this analyst, nor any other, knows a damn thing about the next iPhone.
It isn't 1997. I like my products to be competitive with other hardware on the market. I'm willing to pay a premium for Apple's OS and build quality, but I'll not pay a premium for an inferior product. Why so many complaints? Of all people, Apple fans should be used to enjoying under-specced hardware.

Post of the month....
Side note: That 5" phone you speak of does not require a stylus. It's a drawing and note taking aid. Something that's impossible to do on a 3.5" screen. Is spreading misinformation part of Apple's mantra too?Apple does what Apple wants first and foremost. If the rest of the world is making stylus based 5" phones with slide out keyboards, awesome. Apple will keep making their stylus not required, 3.5" screen etc. Until they are ready to do something different.
You have to realized that most likely the reason for a fall release instead of June like before isn't because they were designing a whole new phone, its because Apple wants iOS 5 and iCloud to be perfect without a hickup not like the mobileme fiasco.
As it was said at the begining of WWDC; this year its all about the software.
I hate the way competition copies Apple stuff but if it wasn't for them, maybe Apple will be still selling iPhone 1st gen (and making tons of profit).Maybe that's why Apple is supposedly not upgrading iPhone4? Competition still didn't catch up?
No, please stop saying this. We are not all drooling over android screen sizes or designs. Stop acting like you speak for the majority because you most certainly do not. who do not.
Are there not 64GB NAND chips available yet?
There are quite a few of us from back then. We actually used to have heated but still intelligent discussions with people like AidenShaw, without all the personal attacks that seem so common now.First of all, you've been a member here since '04? That's crazy.
If there's one thing that would absolutely blow me away, it would be an iPhone 5 with a max of 32GB's of internal storage. I know that they're going to be pushing iCloud, and it's ability to negate the need for internal storage, but the fact is I need locally stored content when I get on an airplane.
I bought the 32GB iPhone 3G, and I'm beyond sick of playing musical chairs with my data. I never have more than ~1% storage left, and it's something I have to think about every time I update an App, buy a new app, or download music to my phone. Apple is literally losing money because I don't have more storage to buy content from iTunes. I'd love to see them leapfrog all the way to 128GB's, but 64GB is much more realistic.

You asked what would be in it for 3GS users upgrading to the iPhone 5, therefore it INCLUDES all of the features they never got since they didn't upgrade to the iPhone 4. Clearly this is something you don't comprehend.Battery life? Really? My 3GS is enough battery and that is worse than the 4.
Front-facing camera? Derp. I could get that with a 4.
FaceTime? Never use it. Don't care. Already in the 4.
Retina display? Already in the 4.
HD video recording? Meh. Maybe. Doubt it. Wouldn't be good quality if it had it.
8MP camera? Yup. This is one feature that would be better. And again, meh.
New design (to them)? If iPhone 4 is the same design, its not a reason to upgrade to the 5.
Twice as much RAM? Which buys what exactly. My 3GS and wife's 4 perform the same with the apps we use. that is a non-reason.
Gyroscope? For what exactly? There would have to be a REALLY compelling reason. The compass never worked well for me, nor was it ever implemented in anything non-gimmicky.
Access to improvements in optimized apps? When the apps demonstrate a true benefit to the new hardware I'd say you're right. But that won't be the case on release... probably not till the iPhone 6 is out.
