I Have to LOL

When I see post by Iphone 4 fans about not wanting a 4in screen like the droid. If apple release a 4in iphone 5, you all would get it! Its just that simple, you dont know what you are missing until you get it in your hands...

Honestly I've had a 4" screen for the past year and really at the end of the day the only time I appreciate it is when my iPad is dead and I'm forced to browse on the phone on the train back home from college or reading documents. But the form factor of the iPhone serves a better purpose than me doing extensive browsing on a phone.

I guess since people intend to play 3D games, watch movies and such on their iPhones 4 inch would be amazing, but for me 3.5 is optimal, maybe 3.7 if they can manage to keep the form factor. But thinking about the majority what would they love a bigger form factor + a bigger screen or the same factor and possibly a slightly larger screen.

If this is even remotely true than it will be the biggest letdown for an Apple product release ever.

The iPhone 4 works beautifully running iOS 5.

Unless they've improved the physical handset, screen, dimensions, etc... I see No reason to upgrade....and I've upgraded every year prior.

----------

The 3GS's processor and GPU already runs all features of iOS5 and 99.9% of the games/programs in the App Store.

Most test results indicated battery life in the iP4 /iP5 was marginally better than the 3GS, nothing noticeable.

A gimmick. I've yet to encounter an iP4 user who uses his front-facing camera regularly (beyond testing it out when he first got it).

A gimmick, especially given the wifi limitation.

Nice, but worth $200 and 2 year service agreement?

I suppose if I had kids, I might care -- but I don't. The only video I shoot on my iPhone is gimmicky 10-15 second clips to send to friends.

I'm a guy. I don't feel the need to take pictures constantly just to show what an interesting life I lead to all my Facebook friends. I take pictures of funny things to send to friends, none of which require anything beyond what is already in the iPhone 4.

Add an optical zoom or a real flash and maybe I'd be interested.

You mean I too can own a phone that shatters from 3 foot drops? Fantastic!

Again -- gives no access to new iOS features, opens up no new possibilities for apps on the app store.

Does what, exactly?

I've yet to encounter an app that my 3GS couldn't download or couldn't run. When I start encountering apps like that, I'll grant you the point. But I'll all but guarantee you those kinds of apps won't start popping up so long as the iP4 remains popular.

What jump?

iOS 5 and virtually every app on the app store already runs on the 3GS.

Wow what a load of complete and utter crap. Hardly any of that is true, yet the hilarious part is that you probably believe yourself.

What is softwear? Is Apple releasing a phone that looks like a comfy sweater? maybe it will be a shoe phone like Get Smart uses.

Dear God, that was a pathetic attempt at a flame.

"Internetz Rulz No 1 - Only those with nothing worth listening to, correct people on their grammar online".

They said this about the iPad 2

As I read this I can't help but remember what the "analysts" were saying about the iPad 2 before it's release.

At first they said there was absolutely NO POSSIBLE WAY that Apple would be releasing another iPad any time soon. They had inside sources deeply rooted inside the various stages of production, and none of them had heard a peep about any new products. There was NO WAY that Apple could produce millions of units and keep it under wraps.

Then when it was pretty clear an iPad 2 WAS coming, they reassured everyone that it was only a minor spec bump. It would look identical to the current iPad, and bring only a faster processor and more RAM to the table. Regardless, because of the lack of chatter from the production lines, the soonest they could ever launch a new product would be months and months away.

Then Apple finally sent out invited for an event, and they made it blatantly clear it would be about the iPad and it was only days away. The day of the event comes, Apple announces a BRAND NEW iPad, and it's completely different from the original model. It's in a brand new enclosure, it has front and rear cameras, it's much faster, and it has innovative features like the magnetic cover that nobody saw coming. Then to top everything off, they announce it will be available for purchases in a matter of DAYS, not months, like the "experts" predicted.

After all of that I lost all hope in any legit leaks coming from analysts regarding specifics about hardware. Apple already had a tight ship before the iPhone 4/Gizmodo incident, and they tightened it even more afterwords. You and I both know that ANY new feature the next iPhone has will be copied within months of it's release, maybe even sooner. That means Engineers from competing companies most likely begin the copying process the second they hear about it during the product announcement. Apple didn't become the most valuable computer/electronics company in the world by sharing company secrets, and considering the iPhone is arguably the product that got them to where they are now, you can expect them to be EXTREMELY secretive about it. The only leaks regarding the next iPhone that can be taken seriously are the leaks surrounding future deals with carriers (i.e. Sprint getting the iPhone).

The fact is, this analyst, nor any other, knows a damn thing about the next iPhone.

see, i believe that apple will release a cheaper model iphone 4s and the iphone 5, because that will make everyone happy. Those who want a new design will be happy and buy the expensive iphone 5, and those who love the iphone 4's design can keep it and still have some upgraded features the iphone 5 will be sporting. I just think that makes the most sense and makes everyone happy.

I just would like to ask a question about rumours and what Apple release.

How many people here have been waiting for the next Apple release/upgrade weeks before it was due have.

A. listened to rumours and analysts and believed them?

B. how many of those analysts/rumours were proved wrong?

C. when Apple call an event and what they produced say wow I'm getting that, or I can't wait.

In Apple we trust, don't forget there is a BIG change at the top, an Mr Jobs will NOT allow his shares to slump for the sake of Mr Cook, its his baby and only a select few know whats going on, thats what HTC, Samsung, Google would pay over $10,000,000,00 to get this hype and following.

Ask google over the past 4 weeks +, which is the most searched term, starving children, economy, no iPhone 5, mmm and they have android.

iPhone 4s?

I'm sorry, but if it's just a minor update from the iPhone 4 I will not be purchasing. What a joke if a minor update is all we get after waiting for how long now? The iPhone 4 is an awesome smartphone, don't get me wrong. I love it and its fast enough for me. Sorry but a new chip and minor changes to the appearance won't be a strong enough selling point for me.

^^^^ correct ^^^^

Post of the month....

Why so many complaints? Of all people, Apple fans should be used to enjoying under-specced hardware. So what if Samsung Prime will have NFC, LTE, 66% higher screen resolution than iPhone, 2x RAM etc. It's the experience that matters. And nothing beats the experience of owning an iPhone with its rumors infrastructure that keeps people entertained for the long months between releases!

It isn't 1997. I like my products to be competitive with other hardware on the market. I'm willing to pay a premium for Apple's OS and build quality, but I'll not pay a premium for an inferior product.

oh, and you edited it down...

The hardware in Apple products is better than 70% of pc/other products, the other 90% is software based, and the remaining 80% is down to customer satisfaction...:p:D

I'll put it this way, if the next iPhone is an incremental 4S-type upgrade, Android is going to run Apple over. I don't think anyone wants to see that happen, especially not Apple. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Apple does what Apple wants first and foremost. If the rest of the world is making stylus based 5" phones with slide out keyboards, awesome. Apple will keep making their stylus not required, 3.5" screen etc. Until they are ready to do something different.
Side note: That 5" phone you speak of does not require a stylus. It's a drawing and note taking aid. Something that's impossible to do on a 3.5" screen. Is spreading misinformation part of Apple's mantra too?

You have to realized that most likely the reason for a fall release instead of June like before isn't because they were designing a whole new phone, its because Apple wants iOS 5 and iCloud to be perfect without a hickup not like the mobileme fiasco.

As it was said at the begining of WWDC; this year its all about the software.

And if that's all Apple has after 15 months, then they really have nothing left to "shock and awe".

I hate the way competition copies Apple stuff but if it wasn't for them, maybe Apple will be still selling iPhone 1st gen (and making tons of profit).Maybe that's why Apple is supposedly not upgrading iPhone4? Competition still didn't catch up?

Oh and apple didn't copy androids drop down notification system

And right now apple is playing catch up. Everything in os5 has been out on other platforms for over 2 years

No, please stop saying this. We are not all drooling over android screen sizes or designs. Stop acting like you speak for the majority because you most certainly do not. who do not.

1st it's his opinion and 2nd calm down it's just a phone people

Good question

Are there not 64GB NAND chips available yet?

First of all, you've been a member here since '04? That's crazy.

And why was your post knocked down? I wonder that as well. If there's one thing that would absolutely blow me away, it would be an iPhone 5 with a max of 32GB's of internal storage. I know that they're going to be pushing iCloud, and it's ability to negate the need for internal storage, but the fact is I need locally stored content when I get on an airplane.

I bought the 32GB iPhone 3G, and I'm beyond sick of playing musical chairs with my data. I never have more than ~1% storage left, and it's something I have to think about every time I update an App, buy a new app, or download music to my phone. Apple is literally losing money because I don't have more storage to buy content from iTunes. I'd love to see them leapfrog all the way to 128GB's, but 64GB is much more realistic.

There are quite a few of us from back then. We actually used to have heated but still intelligent discussions with people like AidenShaw, without all the personal attacks that seem so common now.

And because the musical chairs of data degrades the user experience, it is certainly time to increase the capacity of the iPhone.

Come to think of it, if it had an A5 @ 1 GHz, 64 GB storage, LTE, and an improved antenna, I might just bite after all.

Battery life? Really? My 3GS is enough battery and that is worse than the 4.
Front-facing camera? Derp. I could get that with a 4.
FaceTime? Never use it. Don't care. Already in the 4.
Retina display? Already in the 4.
HD video recording? Meh. Maybe. Doubt it. Wouldn't be good quality if it had it.
8MP camera? Yup. This is one feature that would be better. And again, meh.
New design (to them)? If iPhone 4 is the same design, its not a reason to upgrade to the 5.
Twice as much RAM? Which buys what exactly. My 3GS and wife's 4 perform the same with the apps we use. that is a non-reason.
Gyroscope? For what exactly? There would have to be a REALLY compelling reason. The compass never worked well for me, nor was it ever implemented in anything non-gimmicky.
Access to improvements in optimized apps? When the apps demonstrate a true benefit to the new hardware I'd say you're right. But that won't be the case on release... probably not till the iPhone 6 is out.
You asked what would be in it for 3GS users upgrading to the iPhone 5, therefore it INCLUDES all of the features they never got since they didn't upgrade to the iPhone 4. Clearly this is something you don't comprehend.
