Are you the ministry of misinformation?

Utility companies are run by humans so they, too, will be impacted but my point is utilities aren't free. You have to consider all citizens and not just the Paris Hiltons so if they're on extended lockdown without work, their funds run out and so do their utilities.

You say utility companies will be impacted... I say they were not impacted in China. They were one of the first things to resume day to day operations. Running out of money and being cut off? That's not how it works in China. Beauty of Communism and state run organisations vs corporations that don't care ❤

Great gesture that shows what Apple is about. They are true to their words that are said during keynotes. I think Apple is on a different scale regarding the companies of this category in the world, because of the attention and care they express versus the "being the biggest and best with the most profit" idea many company seems to follow...

PS.: I love it when a serious topic comes up, like this virus outbreak and the "smart" people come out to put out "facts" so they can think high of themselves. In reality, they come out dumb, misinformed and with a strong tunnel vision in stupidity. Please just for once, think out of the box, things are not always about you and you are not alone on this planet, no matter how hard you want to think that.

The government can force landlords to waive rent. They will also force utilities to stay on. Basically the Chinese government will do what is necessary to maintain stability (and also to avoid embarassment).

Nothing is perfect and things will fall thru the cracks and there will be economic victims... but generally when the government says to do something the business owners, landlords, corporations will comply. In China you don’t mess with the government.

Sigh.. marketing.. there's liars, lawyers and marketeers..

Damagecontrol for the "It feels to me that China is getting the coronavirus under control" remark?

We know, apple takes care of their own.. with cookies and an iPad..
Damn. And I thought thought I was cynical.

I will always call out a business, any business, if I think they are wrong or throwing BS at us. Apple has had my disapproval many times.

But good lord this is a wonderful gift by Apple. Kudos to Apple.

Say what you want, but this is a very good move on Apple part.

Struggling to figure out how the usual naysayers will turn this into a bad thing.
See below 😏

There are other companies and even schoolchildren doing this too, but actually keeping it on the downlow because of reasons I can’t personally confirm, as it would be considered hearsay. Since I can’t post a link to an official report, I won’t repeat it here. But yeah, it’s a good thing Apple is doing, but maybe should have been kept quiet.
Where exactly did you see an official Apple statement about their gift ?

You can buy an iPad for 30 pounds?
You should start calling them for what they are: haters, not “naysayers “. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think Cook should sign-up for a week on the iPhone Assembly Line, including living in the Dorms there for the week !
Tim Cook is an high level manager, and he lives and works when he is supposed to live and work.
Besides, iPhone assembly line is Foxconn, not Apple.

So, you too recognize that Cmaier tried to "pre-empt" any criticism of Apple. This is very common in this forum (and unusual for most other forums).
So you too recognize Apple was going to be criticized for this goodwill and whatever they did will be spun around (like a top).

As COVID-19 is starting to spread and impact the US let's have hope that those in decision making roles, healthcare institutions, other employers, etc. are more competent.

If citizens are on extended pandemic lockdown send them essentials like clean water, food/MRE's, emergency radio since Apple removed it from iPhones, light source, medical supplies, cold weather gear, emergency funds, etc.

It's not Xmas so don't send sugar laced snacks (better to be constipated from MRE's and use less toilet paper than diarrhea), tea and iPad when utilities for hot water and internet service are questionable.
We made it through hurricane sandy without power for two weeks, so not worried in the least.

Give them loads of sugar gifts. Not surprised. Apart from the lack of nutritional value, maybe Apple hopes the sugar hit will give them more energy to work harder and longer.
What does nutritional value have to do with anything? These are stranded employees. As far as we know they’re not sick and don’t need certain kind of food/drink.

The food in the packages is unhealthy
Lipton tea is unhealthy?

Most other forums aren’t so predictable.

news item: Tim Cook finds cure for HIV and provides it to patients for one dollar.

falainber: why didn’t he cure cancer? It should be free! He’s just doing this so there will be more slave labor for his chinese factories! He should be lowering prices on RAM upgrades instead of sticking his nose in diseases where it doesn’t belong.

I wasn’t trying to “preempt” anything. I was predicting the future. And I didn’t have to be Nostradamus.

Did anybody else catch the fact that the note said “CareKit?” Nice touch, Apple.

From the makers of other great kits like UIKit, ARKit, and HealthKit, comes the newest ‘Kit’ designed specifically to raise the morale of the working class like no other.

Coming soon:
Apple SocialKit, the easiest way to build your social credit score and honor your leaders.

Come on. Even if you hate Apple. How is this not good? Yes it is great PR but it wasn’t done for specifically for that reason. And yes I’m sure the pr aspect was discussed. They are a business after all
