I can't wait to hear what Tim is going to say
today at apple, we are thrill to announce a new iPhone
is the same iphone we launch in 2018
but this one comes in green, blue or yellow

we also have the same overpriced old obsolete macs
nothing different on the iPads

this man is incredible, he is killing apple

man I really hope that they announce a new iMac and the most waited Mac Pro
I think this is the beginning of the end for apple
they really have to get rid of Tim

maybe they will come out with a beta car, since they are so desperate
look I put my iwatch together with the iglasses and when i drive the icar
I look like an idiot

:D

The "It's Show Time" tag line clearly suggests this event will be focused on services, specifically Apple's streaming & news services.

Apple is so lost right now. Instead of producing great products, they are looking for any which way possible to milk their customers. How can such a great company fall down this stupid path.
Like it or lump it, we live in a services led era now. How many billions would Apple have lost had they not launched Apple Music, for example.

Well there's a difference between "lost money" and just saying "they left it on the table and didn't partake".

Can't wait to see them try to hype up a Netflix clone with a bunch of bland, politically correct, non offensive content

That’s my main issue with them going into original content. All their shows/movies are gonna be bland and safe. If they look at ratings and award shows, what makes them think that’s the kind of content people are looking for?! Such a waste of time and resources. Just focus on making good hardware and software updates.

ain't gonna pay for new subscription service whether it is Apple or Disney.

Funny I hear this sentiment a lot nowadays.

But 2-3 years ago everyone was shouting for a la carte tv. That they should be able to buy separate “channels” they want. Now it is a reality and they are now complaining about separate channels and wanting everything in one place...... go figure.

I wonder what their primary announcement could possibly be with a headline like that
/s

Prolly TV/streaming subscription app. Not expecting much from this event- subscription services. Updated mini with for visual changes. AirPods wireless chaging case. Anything more would be a huge surprise. To be honest, not sure even if these small updates are happening

They should just buy Netflix or Hulu and call it a day.

If Apple had the foresight to care about content they should have bought Netflix and Spotify years ago. That’s the problem, they get into the game either way too early or way too late.

Get rid of the old Air and the M-MacBook. Put the new Air down to £899 or whatever. iPhone - have 3 models. 4 or so inch phone. Have the plus and Max models. Call them iPhone, iPhone plus, iPhone max. Etc etc. Release good updates every year. Buying a Mac is so confusing now.

I wrote a post, and deleted, proposing the consumer-pro grid that SJ implemented

iPad: Consumer: iPad Mini, i. Pro: iPad Pro, IPad Pro+
iPhone C: iPhone XR mini, iPhone XR. P: iPhone XS, iPhone XS+
Mac: C: Mac mini, iMac. P: Mac Pro ( MIA)
Etc.

Simplify the product line and stop selling old models. There does not need to be a redesign every year. But there does need to be a refresh. And then cover the price strata with current models.

Lots of people do, man. Ideally people want all you can eat subscription with books, movies, news, games, etc but that will take time to find the right revenue model.

Have to agree with the first guy. Nobody asked for TV subscription service. People already have Netxflix and Hulu accounts. Soon a bunch of content will be pulled from Netflix and added to Disney streaming services, so you have to subb to that one if you want to see specific content. And then there is this Apple one? 5 services ? Does this really sounds convinient?
And don’t forget, that all Apple services are very North America centered. A vast majority of the world still will not have access to these services, just like TV app and Apple Pay and News app and ECG on Apple Watch and Apple Care etc. So, globaly this is for very limited audience.

Apple News is awesome, especially now that I've figured out how to block certain news sources like E! and BGR. I just wish I didn't have to use the desktop app to block them.

The only truly annoying thing is that there seems to be no way to get a straight http:// link to share with people who don't use Apple products. Not surprising, but annoying af.

That's why we have choices.

Not everyone is going to enjoy family-friendly shows, just as not everyone necessarily enjoys shows like 24.

I wonder if Apple is trying to cast as wide a net as they can with content that has a larger appeal, especially if Apple intends to make them freely available in the TV app (which means it needs to be safe for anyone with an iOS device or Mac, including children). Plus, these would be shows that they are able to screen in their own Apple Stores, unlike more edgy content like say, Game of Thrones, which would be subject to more restrictions.
You've completely missed the point:

"Not everyone is going to enjoy family-friendly shows, just as not everyone necessarily enjoys shows like 24"

That's OK as long as the network you choose has both and YOU make the decision what's acceptable.

"I wonder if Apple is trying to cast as wide a net as they can with content"

No they're doing the OPPOSITE by not having controversial content thus narrowing the “net” you think they're casting.

I don't see what buying these companies would have achieved, apart from removing another competitor.

Neither these companies brought any special technology to the party, and Apple would likely have to re-negotiate all the contractual terms with content owners all over again once these companies changed ownership anyways (which kinda defeats the point of acquiring them in the first place).

It's not like Spotify has any music unique to its own platform, and I don't really find Netflix's original content all that fantastic. We also don't know if either of these companies would have been a fit with Apple culturally.

It would ultimately just be cheaper to grow Apple Music organically, and that seems to be working in countries like the US, where iPhones enjoy a larger market share.

That's OK as long as the network you choose has both and YOU make the decision what's expectable.

So are you agreeing or disagreeing with me?

If Apple allowed all content and allowed the user to make a choice what they want : Agreeing
If Apple say "we know best" : Disagreeing
How does Apple not choosing to make more controversial content (for the moment at least) prevent you from watching them on another service such as Netflix or HBO on your iPad or Apple TV?

News app - boring, I read enough of that over the top crap already
TV Services - Apple locks your family to accounts you have in your family with only one credit card. So if your kids want to make a purchase it goes on your card. No way. Netflix, Amazon and HULU are already ruling this space. Apple would have to untether family accounts AND provide such good content that I couldn't look away. Otherwise, we're so soaked in media content (my backlog on movies and TV shows are huge) so yeah.

I'm more interested in hardware.

It doesn't but you're crazy if you think Apple is currently thinking "we'll provide this, OUR customers can go elsewhere for this other stuff" Apple doesn't want you to do any of the things you suggested and by not provding an alternative could prove to be their downfall. They are betting the farm on "trust Apple; it's all you need".
